Thank you to Marsha and Linn (and all their helpers) for making this a memorable event. If you are thinking that during the winter all we seem to do is have fun that involves eatingö you are absolutely correct! I hope you are all planning to attend the February Drive and Eat on Saturday, February 7 at the Mosly Street Melodrama. We will enjoy a great barbeque dinner and I know we are in for losts of laughs and music to top off the evening. Mary needs your reservations and payment by the February 4 meeting. I hope to see you all at Don Hattan on February 4 for the meeting! Keep warm, Dale Page 1

We welcomed our guests Steve and Karen Kealey from Abilene who have a 1986 Corvette. A motion was made and passed to approve the minutes as published. Gene Brown announced the Drive & Eat would be to Arlington and the cost would be $15.00 per person. Dale then proceeded directly to officer reports. Vice President David Snodgrass reported that we have two new members. Because of the officer transition an accurate membership list was not available but is forthcoming. He stated that checks had been written the post office box payment and $250.00 to The Lord s Diner. Secretary - Marsha Battaglear had nothing. Officer-at-Large - Lin Smith reminded everyone of the Awards banquet at 6:30 Jan 16 th at the Petroleum Club on the 9 th floor of the Bank of America building downtown. We were reminded that parking is in the parking garage across from the bank. She stated that the points are starting new for the 2009 year. Jack & Murla and Keith & Margaret asked to join Bob & Marsha and Rex & Candy to not be included in this year s points race. There was some discussion about the points and the Board agreed to review, revamp if necessary and make the points list available to members. Lin then asked Dale to ask Jim Hattan for his half of the money towards the awards. She also mentioned that no one had yet invited a representative from Don Hattan to the banquet. Dale agreed to take care of both items. NCCC Governor Bob Battaglear stated that he had yet to receive anything from the regional or national NCCC. February, 2009 Volume 43 - Issue 2 Awards Banquet Another year has passed and we can say goodbye to 2008, but before we do that we want to recognize our members who have been especially active. We do that at our Awards Banquet. Our banquet this year was lovely as usual thanks to the Petroleum Club. After a delicious dinner we were entertained with The Not-so-Newlywed Q-tip game. Marsha Battaglear hosted and ten couples bravely participated. Dale & Barb Brotton, Earl & Deanna Kunc, Kevin & Paula Mansfield, Travis & Trish Pearson and Dave & Leslie Snodgrass were in the first group. Kevin & Paula were victorious. I must digress here to mention that I never thought I would ever use Meatloaf and Paula or Trish and Dean Martin in the same sentences. (who knew?????) Anyway...the second group consisted of Barry & Helen Hoofer, Terry & Jerri House, Randy & Terry King, Dick & Connie Volkman, and Art & Darlene Warren. A set of tie breaker questions was used to determine the winner between the Kings and Hoofers. Randy & Terry King were the victors to go against Kevin & Paula in the final round. After the dust settled Kevin & Paula Mansfield were the final champions. Congratulations on a game well played and thanks to everyone who were great sports. We then drew for door prizes. The grand Door Prize was awarded to an active new member. The recipients of the 2008 award were Jim and Susan (Kopina) Phares. Lin and Randy Smith then recognized the E-Board members with a token of appreciation. The final act of the evening was to recognize the members who have earned the most participation points. First place went to Chris & Monte Rans, second place went to Jack & Murla Crossman, third place went to Kevin & Paula Mansfield, fourth place went to Lin & Randy Smith and fifth place went to Randy & Terry King. The whole affair was great fun. Special thanks to Lin & Randy Smith who hosted the event. Page 6
