B I S H O P R A M S E Y Church of England School Headteacher: Mr A J Wilcock MA (Cantab) 15 th March 2018 Dear Parent/Carer, USA Ski Trip Final Arrangements As I write this letter snow is falling in the Brighton ski resort. So far this season over 6 meters of light fluffy snow has landed on the slopes it s a good job they know how to deal with it better than we do in the UK! On Sunday 1 st April our connecting flight into LAX (flight number VS23) departs from Heathrow, Terminal 3 at 15:45hrs. This requires us to check in at 12:45hrs. With this in mind, we will meet at 12:35hrs, in Zone A, close to the Virgin Atlantic check-in desk. I have attached a copy of the Terminal 3 map with our meeting point highlighted. On arrival at the airport, your son/daughter should register with their appointed member of staff. We should arrive at the hotel at 00:30hrs local time (-6hrs). The baggage allowance per passenger is 23kg, plus one standard hand luggage bag. When packing please remember that should any purchases be made at the outlet stores, this will also have to be included in the weight allowance on the way home. Your son/daughter should have the following in their hand luggage: their passport, visa waiver and any medication they may require for the journey. As with any flight, all liquids should be in bottles/containers no larger than 100ml and held in an easily accessible clear plastic bag totalling no more than 1000 ml (this includes creams and make up). Any item exceeding this limit will be confiscated by security officials at Heathrow. Our direct return flight from Salt Lake City (flight number DL50) departs at 20.34hrs on Saturday 7 th April and is scheduled to arrive at Heathrow, Terminal 3, at 13.29hrs on Sunday 8 th April. Please ensure that you are there on time to meet us, as I have no doubt that my team will be keen to get home to rest after a busy week spent with 44 excited children! Students will find out next week which member of staff they are registering with throughout the trip. They will receive their hoodies at the same time. Clothing hired from ski-togs should arrive at school in the week beginning 26 th March. I have monitored weather conditions in Brighton over the past few weeks, where temperatures have dropped as low as -18C during the day (plus wind chill!), although they have recently increased to a much more pleasant level. I wanted you to be aware of the potential for super cold conditions. With this in mind, it is essential that students have suitable clothing, including a proper ski jacket and salopettes, under layers/mid layers/fleece jumper/specialist ski socks, beanie hat, snood/face mask, goggles and ski gloves/mittens. For the resort liability form, please fill in all details. These forms are standard across USA ski resorts.
