Delmarva built a 4-0 lead against Marlins top prospect Tyler Kolek, but the offense went dormant against the Grasshoppers bullpen. A couple of big innings, a four-run 4th and a five-run 7th, lifted Greensboro to the come-from-behind win. Alex Murphy collected three RBIs, including a two-run blast in the 9th inning, to add to his league-leading total. TODAY S OPPONENT: Ben Holmes will start game three on Saturday night for the Greensboro Grasshoppers. The left-hander made a relief appearance against Delmarva on Opening Night, pitching two scoreless innings. Holmes lost his first start against Lakewood, giving up two runs in five innings. The Miami Marlins selected Holmes in the 9th round of the 2014 MLB Draft out of Oregon State University. WALK THIS WAY: The Shorebirds lineup currently leads the South Atlantic League in on-base percentage at.358. This is partly due to a strong batting average (.254), but Delmarva also leads the league in walks drawn with 39. THE GOLDEN RATIO: Delmarva s pitching staff has one of the best strikeout-to-walk ratios in the South Atlantic League. The Shorebirds have recorded 3.2 Ks per 1 BB, 4th-best in the SAL. As a team, Delmarva has struck out 80 batters, tied for 3rd most in the league. ORIOLES WATCH: The Baltimore Orioles lost 3-2 on a walkoff in the series opener at Fenway Park. Ubaldo Jimenez was ejected in the 4th inning for plunking Pablo Sandoval who had earlier taken out Jonathan Schoop with a hard slide. Jimenez had not allowed a hit at the time when he was ejected. Caleb Joseph hit his first home run of the year for Baltimore. Boston won on an walkoff single by Xander Bogaerts. PLAYER TO WATCH JOHN MEANS P The Shorebirds Opening Day starter has begun the season with a perfect 2-0 record in two starts. Means did not allow a run in his season debut, and then took home another win after yet another quality start in Game 1 of Wednesday s doubleheader. Zach Jemiola (ASH) and Connor Kaden (AUG) are the only others in the SAL with two wins. WHO S HOT/WHO ELSE WHO S HOT ALEX MURPHY The Shorebirds catcher is raking to start 2015, hitting home runs in back-to-back nights in Greensboro. Murphy currently leads the South Atlantic League with 14 RBIs in nine games, five ahead of Carlos Tocci. WHO ELSE CONOR BIERFELDT The outfielder is back with Delmarva for 2015, after leading the team in home runs last season. So far, Bierfeldt has four doubles (T-4th in SAL) and five RBIs in the opening week of the season.

Game #10 Delmarva Shorebirds vs. Greensboro Grasshoppers (Marlins) NewBridge Bank Park MANAGER RYAN MINOR Minor, 41, returns for his seventh season on the Shorebirds coaching staff, and his fifth as the team s manager. In 2014, he led the Shorebirds to 66 wins, the most victories for the franchise since 2009. This is Minor s second stint in Salisbury, having previously managed the Shorebirds for three seasons (2010-12) and spent two seasons (2008-09) as the hitting coach for the Shorebirds. In between, he managed the Frederick Keys (Advanced-A) in 2013. During his tenure as manager of the Shorebirds, the team compiled 232 wins, the most of any Delmarva manager. Minor aided the development of current Orioles, Manny Machado and Jonathan Schoop, who played for the Shorebirds in 2011. Minor, a longtime resident of Salisbury with his wife Allyson and two children Reagan and Finley, enjoyed a four-year run in the major leagues from 1998 through 2001. He spent his first three years with the Orioles and his final season with the Montreal Expos. Minor s playing career is best remembered for replacing Cal Ripken, Jr. at third base on September 20, 1998 when the consecutive games streak of 2,632 came to a close. The Orioles drafted Minor in the 33rd round of the 1996 First Year Player Draft out of the University of Oklahoma. In 1997, he played for Shorebirds and was an SAL All-Star third baseman. He batted.307 with 24 home runs and 97 RBIs. Minor still owns the franchise single season records for doubles (42). Minor also owns a decorated college basketball career. He is sixth all-time in scoring at Oklahoma with 1,946 points. He was selected in the second round (32nd overall) of the 1996 NBA draft by the Philadelphia 76ers.
