The qualifications to become a member of the squad are as follows: Maintain a 2.0 minimum GPA requirement, you must have spirit and enthusiasm, want to be involved, enjoy performing, be ready to work hard, and ready to assume the responsibility of representing PHS! Poms can be a truly rewarding experience, but it is also a large time commitment and can be costly. The squad requires earnest efforts and sincere dedication. Be aware of these facts as you prepare to take on the responsibilities of representing Poolesville High School. If selected to be a PHS Falcon pom, there are many specific responsibilities, obligations, and behavioral expectations that your child must accept in order to qualify for and to remain part of the squad. Parent Responsibilities: The Parent/Guardian permission form must be completed and signed by a Parent/Guardian before the first day of practice Tuesday, May 31st in order to participate.*mcps Form Number (SRS-6), Health Inventory also must be handed in on Tuesday, May 31st Make sure that each form has been filled out completely and correctly. Team Member Participation Standards, Expectations and Responsibilities: Athlete expectations Our expectations for the girls on this team are very high. They are expected to conduct themselves appropriately at all times. They are representatives of the school, the team, and the coaching staff and as such we expect them to behave as young ladies at all times. Violation of these expectations will result in disciplinary action, up to and including suspension and/or removal from the team. Some things to note: *Foul language will not be tolerated. *No excessive PDA s *Smoking, alcohol, drug use are prohibited at all times both on and off campus. *Courtesy to team mates, school staff, and all students is expected at all times. *Notification of any change in contact information MUST be made to the coaching staff immediately. Absences affect the teams ability to progress, and unlike other teams we do not have the luxury of substitutions. Practices and games are mandatory. You will be on time and ready to participate. The only excused absences from practices are for illness that require the athlete to miss school or for school events that result in a grade. You MUST be at the practice immediately before any performance game, exhibition, or competition. If you are not there for ANY reason, you will not perform. Excessive absences or tardiness, regardless of reason, will result in disciplinary action including suspension and up to removal from the team. Summer Camp The pom squad will be attending summer camp. Camp dates are July 10th 13th. Camp will be held at the University of Maryland, Baltimore campus. Parent transportation will be necessary. Camp cost is about $330 payable in increments of $50 and $280.
