Thanks to your generous donations, we were able to surpass our goal of $20,000.00, and collect a total of $20,500.00!!! The kids enjoyed a beautiful day and lots of fun with Oscar the Owl, and Mr. V. leading them in the fun run! We would like to thank Jerilynn Pintar, Janelle Napolitano, Melissa DeGraw, Suzanne Boland, Jackie Tull, Jennifer Fredenberg, Dana Meyer, Wendy Smith, Kim Illijanic, Mr. V. and Heather Cicco for their time and effort, and for putting on such a great event. We would also like to thank Aaron Smith for sweating throughout the day as Oscar the Owl! The kids loved having Oscar there and we loved watching him dance his way through the Hoot Scoot! Cont. on Pg. 2

North Hill would like to thank the following businesses that generously donated to the Hoot Scoot raffle! Doolin and Haddad Advanced Dentistry, Half Day Café, Orange Leaf, Froggy s Toy Stop, Grit Obstacle, Emagine Theaters, and i9 Sports. We appreciate your generous donations, and the winners loved their prizes!!! This year, we had a raffle for families that donated $250.00 or more. The lucky winners were announced on Wednesday: IPad Air Garrett and Ella Clor Front Row seats at 5 th grade farewell Erin Coleman Front Row seats at 5 th grade farewell Tommy Pintar Parking sign Madison and Aidan White Mr. Murphy and several other teachers will be participating in fun relay races for the whole school to watch, because we hit our goal! That date will be announced soon. Thank you again to all the families who donated to our wonderful school!! Halloween Dress Guidelines: Please help us to promote a safe and enjoyable day. For the safety and positive experience for all children, please adhere to the following guidelines: No play weapons of any kind No violent outfits Each classroom will choose the timing and details of their own classroom celebrations. Our parade will begin at 3pm if the weather allows. The parade route will go along the front bus loop, south side of the building, and continue on the northbound service drive behind the building. In the event of poor weather, there will not be an indoor parade, but classroom celebrations will proceed as planned.

North Hill Elementary 2016-2017 Reflections Art Program Entry Submission: October 12 October 27 Student entry forms and National PTA category rules are posted on the NH PTA Reflections webpage: A student entry form is required for each entry along with a title and brief artist statement, which explains what inspired the work of art and how it relates to the theme. It is recommended that you read the full National PTA category rules to ensure your entry qualifies. The rules can change each year. Here are a few highlights: Visual Arts: New this year 3D artwork accepted Jewerly, sculpture, photographic collages, crafts, drawing, painting and many more. Maximum size of 2D is 24 x 30, including mat. Framed art work is not accepted. Your name should not appear on the front of the artwork. Paper entries MUST be mounted on some type of cardboard to be able to stand alone. 3D Art MUST Include packaging material & 3 photos of entry Photography: Single print or photomontage (one seamless print of multiple original photos). Maximum size is 11 x14, including mat. Photos with added graphics over the image, including lettering is not acceptable. Student submitting the entry must be the person who takes the photograph. Your name should not appear on the front of photograph. Print MUST be mounted on some type of cardboard to be able to stand alone Music Composition: Entries may include works of voice, instrument(s), or a combination of both. Entry may not include commercially pre-programmed imported MIDI or other source files or use algorithmic composition software. Entry must be submitted as audio file on a CD/DVD/Flash drive, not as CD/DVD movie. The file can t exceed 5 minutes and 1GB in size. See rules for accepted file formats.. Literature: Entries may be a work of fiction or nonfiction, prose, poetry, short story or drama. Entry must not exceed 2,000 words and may be handwritten or typed. Only 1 piece of artwork drawn by the student is acceptable, however, only the literary content will be judged. Dictation and typing by another person is permitted. See the rules for additional info. Submit your entry on 8.5 x11 paper (one side only with pages numberd) Film Production: The student must be the director, screenwriter and camera person. All editing and storyboarding must be done by the student. Entry must be submitted on a CD/DVD/Flash Drive and is not to exceed 5 minutes or 1GB in size. See rules for accepted file formats. Dance: An original choreographed dance created by one student must be recorded on a CD/DVD/Flash Drive and shouldn t exceed 5 minutes or 1GB in size. See rules for accepted file formats. Choreographer may be the performer or one of the performers but not required.

Earning money for our school with Box Tops for Education is so easy. Every Box Top you submit is worth $0.10 for our school. Families simply need to cut, rip, or tear the Box Tops official coupon off the package and turn it into the front office at North Hill in a blue container labeled Box Tops. Box Tops do have expiration dates. Please be cognizant of expiration dates when clipping your box tops. Please feel free to turn box tops in as you collect them to ensure that we don't miss out on expiration dates. No donation is too small! Our first submission deadline for this school year is November 1, 2016. We have a goal of $1000.00 for this year so please check your pantries and see what Box Tops you can round up to help us reach our goal. Box Tops are not only on processed food items. Many Box Tops can be found on many non-processed items as well. Box Tops can be found on Ziploc products, Hefty bags, Hefty tableware, Reynolds parchment and paper and baking cups, Land O' Lakes butter, Green Giant FRESH and frozen vegetables just to name a few.
