Rhoose FC Football Club Rhoose FC were formed in season 1969/70 as Rhoose Social in the then Barry and District League (now the Vale of Glamorgan League). The original club (Rhoose Social FC) mainly comprised of a group of friends, the majority of which were playing for established clubs in the 1st Division of the Barry & District League centred around the Rhoose area. Success came relatively quickly and the club were regular winners of league and cup honours. At around season 1980/81, following several attempts, the club were elected as members of the South Wales Amateur League (SWAL). The relative step up in class at that time proved to be daunting for the club and it's fair to say that tough times followed on the field of play.in consequence the club failed to progress out of the 2nd division of the SWAL and subsequently dropped out of the league. However, they "re-emerged" as winners of the Vale of Glamorgan Premier League as Rhoose FC in season 2006/07 and were accepted back into the SWAL 2nd division

for the start of the following season. Again, the new set-up included a close group of friends as the nucleus of an emerging successful club - the majority of the playing squad having played together from under 8 (mini) level. The club retains its original identity through the involvement of a number of the original Rhoose Social FC members as officers of the present set-up namely: Ken Bryl as Treasurer/Secretary;Steve Jones as General Manager; and Andy Pritchard as Chairman - as well as a number of other original members on the periphery. season 2007/08 and followed that success by winning the John W Owen cup and the South Wales Senior Cup in successive seasons since gaining promotion to the SWAL 1st Division. Since then the club consolidated and established their position in the SWAL 1st Division culminating in being crowned as 1st Division champions in season 2012/2013; and subsequently winning the South Wales FA promotional play off against Sully Sports. This resulted in promotion to the Welsh League (3rd Division) for season 2013/2014. The club were also successful again in wining the John W Owen cup during this season and also runners-up in the South Wales Senior Cup. Our first Season in the Welsh league saw us finish a creditable 9th. However the management grossly under estimated the step up from Amateur League, and the players were extremely naieve on the pitch. However more new and expienienced players have been added to the squad. Hopefully the lessons learnt from last season and the new signings will allow the club to finish much higher this seson.

Goalkeeper: Barry Niblett Age 52 Club Appearances 8 Joined us last season where he forced his way into the side and played in the John Owen Cup final and Play off Final Welsh league, and kept a clean sheet in both games. Defender: Christian Baldock Age 28 Club Appearances 160 (Known as Bully) Has been with the club since the age of 12 very consistent right back, but has been known to play mid field also Defender: Craig Green Age 26 Club Appearances 57 Signed from Grange Albion 3 seasons ago.
