McIntosh (sp) RACE 1: Livamol 3YO Maiden Plate 1600m: Augustus held up rounding the home turn and, approaching the 400m, was tightened for room when attempting a narrow run between Langley and Boomtown Rat. Boomtown Rat approaching the 150m, raced in restricted room between Augustus and Stella Victoria, which shifted in slightly. Bullet Shot A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormality. Seababe held up rounding the home turn. RACE 2: Matt Jones Birthday Memorial Maiden Handicap 1400m: Fabricator pulled hard in the early and middle stages. Inclined to lay in in the early part of the straight and, passing the 400m, was awkwardly placed on the heels of Chief Kidder, which shifted out. The gelding continued to lay in for the remainder of the straight and proved difficult to ride out. Deny was a late withdrawal at 1.01 p.m. by order of the Stewards when the gelding dislodged its rider and broke through a railing in the back straight after taking fright from Torque, which galloped riderless towards the barrier stalls. Torque which became fractious, dislodged its rider after leaving the mounting yard and galloped for some distance before being recaptured, was a late withdrawal at 1.01 p.m. Stewards subsequently ordered that all monies placed on Torque be refunded in full and, with regard to betting with bookmakers, all successful wagers made prior to 1.01 p.m. be subject to the following deductions in the dollar on the face value of the ticket: 1 st Chief Kidder less 4 cents win, 10 cents place; 2 nd Daydream Explorer less 7 cents place; 3 rd Fabricator less 5 cents place. Trainer Mr J. Austin was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding for its prerace manners. As rider T. Wolfgram suffered injuries to his left knee and right shoulder and was unable to fulfil his remaining engagements, Stewards permitted the following replacements: Race 3 Race 8 J. 20170902 HAWK 2 Itasca When questioned regarding the performance of the gelding, rider M. Bell stated that his mount was inclined to race keenly in the early stages and was obliged to race wide throughout, and as a result could not sustain its effort in the straight. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormality. Chief Kidder raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Daydream Explorer held up rounding the home turn. Jawhara slow to begin. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormality. Rose Of Savannah A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormality. RACE 3: Brooklyn Underwriting Colts, Geldings and Entires Maiden Handicap 1100m: Grand Finalist rider P. King reported that, in his opinion, the gelding had got its tongue back during the race, and he recommended to connections that a tongue tie be added to the gelding's gear. Creative Vision A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormality. Spencer bumped on jumping by Stanley Park, which shifted in. Stanley Park When questioned concerning his riding of the gelding passing the 800m, and in particular why the runner to his inside, Star Bolt, was able to improve between his mount and Grand Finalist, S. Guymer stated that Stanley Park was inclined to lay out away from the leader Grand Finalist and, when joining the course proper, that runner shifted in toward the running rail which allowed Star Bolt to improve between his mount and Grand Finalist. S. Guymer advised that at this stage he attempted to shift his mount inward and hold Star Bolt in a pocket, however, Stanley Park was inclined to hang out and was obliged to race three wide thereafter. RACE 4: Irresistible Pools And Spas Fillies and Mares Maiden Handicap 1100m: Bounding Badger raced wide without cover throughout. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormality. Daphne Ann slow to begin. Trainer Mr G. Frazer was fined $50 under AR59A for failing to produce the thoroughbred identity card for the mare. Latin Girl Trainer Mr J. Thomsen was fined $50 under AR59A for failing to produce the thoroughbred identity card for the mare. Miss Breffni underwent a veterinary examination and was passed fit to start after kicking out in the raceday stalls. Caper Trainer Mr S. Singleton was fined $50 under AR59A for failing to produce the thoroughbred identity card for the filly. Tightened for room shortly after the start between Latin Girl and Lugard Road, which shifted out.
20170902 HAWK 3 Cosmic Kitty raced greenly in the straight. The pre-race manners of the mare were brought to the attention of Trainer Ms R. Brewer after it was reluctant to proceed to the barriers. RACE 5: Aveo Bella Vista Benchmark 64 Handicap 1100m: Charlie Chap slow to begin. Right As Rain was a late withdrawal at 2.55 p.m. acting on veterinary advice after the mare became fractious in the barriers, reared and got its near foreleg up over the partition for an extended period of time. Stewards subsequently ordered that all monies placed on Right As Rain be refunded in full and, with regard to betting with bookmakers, all successful wagers made prior to 2.55 p.m. be subject to the following deductions in the dollar on the face value of the ticket: 1 st Charlie Chap less 21 cents win, 18 cents place; 2 nd Shalama less 27 cents place. Stable representative Mr J. Beers was advised that the mare must barrier trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to its next start. Malzoom When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of the gelding, rider W. Costin stated that after beginning well her mount travelled well on the speed. She stated that her mount was inclined to lay in and when asked for an effort shortly after straightening failed to respond to her riding and furthermore made a respiratory noise. Trainer Mr G. Neale could offer no explanation for the performance other than that in his opinion the gelding may have got its tongue back during the event. Mr Neale undertook to report back to the Stewards on the progress of Malzoom in the days subsequent. Anne's Gift raced wide without cover throughout. RACE 6: J & G Excavations and Asphalting Class 2 Handicap 1000m: Parlay Vous approaching the 150m shifted in abruptly obliging its rider to correct his mount. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have bled from one nostril. Trainer Mr J. O'Shea was advised that the gelding must gallop 1000 metres or barrier trial prior to its next race start. Smokey's Joy a post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have bled from both nostrils for the second occasion. Trainer Mr S. Singleton was advised that Smokey's Joy will now incur a lifetime ban from racing under AR53A. Knotted When questioned, rider W. Costin stated that her mount travelled well on the speed but shortly after straightening was disappointing and failed to run on. The only explanation she could offer was that the gelding may have resented the addition of a tongue tie today. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormality. Trainer Mr G. Neale could offer no explanation for the gelding's disappointing performance. He advised that he will remove the tongue tie from the gelding's gear and undertook to report back to Stewards. I Am Capitan inclined to lay in away from Parlay Vous over the final 150 metres. Atum inclined to race keenly in the early and middle stages, and passing the 800m the bit lifter broke.
20170902 HAWK 4 Caribou slow to begin (2L). RACE 7: MFA NSW Albert O'Cass Memorial Benchmark 65 Handicap 1400m: Ready Set Sing approaching the 1200m was briefly tightened for room by Moss Trip, which was inclined to lay in despite the efforts of its rider. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Humility passing the 200m was tightened for room between Pretty Smart and Moss Trip (A. Layt), which shifted out after initially being carried wider by Carluca. A. Layt was advised to exercise more care. Man Of Colours slow to begin. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. A postrace veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormality. Moss Trip began awkwardly. RACE 8: World Polo Championship 21-29 October Benchmark 60 Handicap 1800m: Anthony's Best crowded for room shortly after the start by Pena Ajena and Espresso Shot, which shifted out I'm Bulletproof B. El-Issa (Dragon's Shadow) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR137(a) in that near the 1600m I'm Bulletproof had to be checked when crowded for room by Dragon's Shadow, which shifted in when insufficiently clear. B. El- Issa's licence to ride in races was suspended for a period to commence on Tuesday 26 September, at the expiration of a suspension incurred at yesterday's Goulburn race meeting, and to expire on Sunday 8 October 2017, on which day he may ride. B. El-Issa was cautioned in respect of his conduct during this inquiry. Miss Bourbon Bar raced keenly in the middle stages. Celtic Diamond underwent a veterinary examination after striking its nose when leaving the enclosure and was passed fit to start. Heroes When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of the gelding, rider R. Murray stated that her mount never travelled throughout the event and weakened badly from the 800m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be displaying cardiac arrhythmia. Trainer Mr D. Mirfin was advised that a full veterinary clearance, including the results of an ECG, would be required prior to Heroes then barrier trialling to the satisfaction of Stewards.
