Frill Seeking then was inclined to lay in under pressure in the straight. Summary of whip use: Stewards noted the following riders exceeded the permitted strikes of the whip prior to the 100m under AR137A(5)(a)(ii): Race 3 App. A Adkins (Lamma Hilton) 7 strikes prior to the 100m Race 4 P Moloney (Fifty Ways) 6 strikes prior to the 100m Race 7 T Berry (Beyond Thankful) 6 strikes prior to the 100m Bearing in mind the totality of whip use, no action was taken. HAWKESBURY Saturday 29 April 2017 Race 7: Blacktown Workers Club Hawkesbury Guineas 1400m Spright trainer Mr G Frazer advised that following the race the filly was suffering two black eyes and also swelling in all four legs. He said Spright had subsequently been treated and had pleased since. Mr Frazer was advised he would be required to furnish a veterinary clearance prior to the filly racing again. RACE 1: Parravans Caravans Benchmark 65 Handicap (Scaled 0.5kg) 1100m Worldly Impact slow to begin. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any Sweet Surprise raced keenly in the middle stages. When questioned regarding her riding of the mare in the early stages, App. D Panya stated she was under no specific instructions. She added after beginning well she rode her mount along to take advantage of its good start, however when the rider of Memes seemed intent on holding its position and she felt she would have to make too much use of her mount, notwithstanding she had obtained a narrow margin
2 on Memes to her inside, and when in her view it became apparent she would be obliged to do too much work, she elected to restrain and remain racing outside that runner. Cockles when the pace steadied in the middle stages had to be steadied away from the heels of Sweet Surprise and was shifted to the outside of that runner. Cockles then raced wide without cover. Marrock raced wide without cover throughout. RACE 2: McDonnell Air Conditioning Maiden Plate 1000m Skilled Magic slow to begin. When questioned regarding his riding in the early part of the straight, App. N Heywood stated, after being held up rounding the home turn, he elected to shift to the outside of Miss Breffni in an endeavour to obtain a run between that runner and Avery s Luck. App. Heywood reported, after being disappointed for that run, he elected to shift back to the inside of Miss Breffni, however he was again disappointed for a run when that runner shifted in slightly. He said he then elected to improve to the outside of that runner, however when briefly crowded by Miss Breffni, which shifted out, his mount ran out abruptly and raced greenly thereafter. Bobbing slow to begin. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages and for some distance passing the 700m was restrained away from the heels of Barangaroo Lass. Making the first turn after the 600m Bobbing shifted out and was steadied when awkwardly positioned close to the heels of Ephriam. Inclined to lay in in the straight. Secret Pedrille bumped shortly after the start by Japhite, which shifted in. Ephriam raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Japhite raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Raced wide without cover throughout. Barangaroo Lass held up until the 200m and shortly after was tightened for room between Avery s Luck and Ephriam, which shifted in. Miss Breffni a post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to have bled from both nostrils. Trainer Mr S Singleton was advised Miss Breffni will incur the mandatory three month ban under AR53A and must trial or gallop 1000m prior to racing again. RACE 3: Nor-West Jets Maiden Handicap 1300m Elite Label bounded on jumping and lost ground. Held up in the early part of the straight and had difficulty finding clear running in the straight. Our Celtic Star bumped shortly after the start by Bint Snitzel, which shifted in slightly. Held up rounding the home turn and in the early part of the straight and then had to be shifted to the inside of All Too Sweet, whereby the gelding was disappointed for a run between that runner and Playbook. Our Celtic Star was then shifted to the outside of All Too Sweet to obtain clear running Red Notice raced wide without cover.
3 Bint Snitzel held up rounding the home turn and in the early part of the straight and was then tightened for room between Drop The Hammer and Our Celtic Star, which shifted out. Fourth Protocol inclined to lay in in the early part of the straight and when disappointed for a run had to be checked off the heels of Drop The Hammer. Continued to lay in in the straight and proved difficult to ride. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any Playbook a post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any RACE 4: Prestige Racehorse Transport Class 2 Handicap 1300m Asked To Leave on return to scale the connections of the 3 rd placegetter viewed the official video footage to ascertain if there were grounds for objection against 2 nd placegetter Hutcho. It was established that approaching the 75m King Viv laid in and brushed Asked To Leave. A short distance later Asked To Leave was then again brushed by Hutcho, which shifted out. Asked To Leave then raced in restricted room for the final strides of the race. After viewing the films, when the connections were satisfied there were not sufficient grounds to lodge an object and Stewards were similarly satisfied, correct weight was declared. Raced wide without cover. Disperse slow to begin. Shifted out across heels passing the 100m to obtain clear running. Stradazzle slow to begin. Hutcho crowded on jumping between King Viv and Admit, which shifted out slightly. Admit knuckled shortly after jumping. Smokey s Joy pulled hard in the early and middle stages. King Viv inclined to lay in in the straight. Fantasize when questioned regarding the performance of the mare, K McEvoy stated that his mount was not suited by today s slow tempo and, furthermore, that he was held up rounding the home turn and was unable to improve into the race after passing the 600m. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any RACE 5: Sieders Truck Repairs Provincial & Country Maiden Plate 1300m Red Centre Ruby checked shortly after the start by Veuve Girl and Chocolate Coated, which was taken out by Dad s Boy. Evolet raced wide without cover. Major Stress inclined to lay in in the straight. RACE 6: Beards Of Hope Class 2 Handicap 1600m Zijin Cheng the colt, which became cast in the race day stalls at Muswellbrook on 13 April 2017, underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit to start.
4 Poet s Advocate the declaration of correct weight was delayed when the Stewards viewed the patrol films relative to the start afforded to the gelding. After interviewing trainer Mr S Singleton, rider J Taylor, along with barrier attendant Mr M Hepworth and starter Mr D Evans, no application was made on behalf of the connections of Poet s Advocate to declare the gelding a non-runner. Stewards found that prior to the start being effected Poet s Advocate became fractious and was being assisted by Mr Hepworth. Poet s Advocate was standing in a position where it was able to jump, however got its head down once the barriers opened, which resulted in Mr Hepworth attempting to correct the gelding and assist J Taylor, which ultimately led to it being slow to begin and losing ground (3L). As the Stewards were satisfied that Poet s Advocate got its head down as the start was effected and Mr Hepworth was only assisting J Taylor, the gelding was declared a runner. At a subsequent inquiry Mr Singleton was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding. My Milly Moo the front gates of the barrier were slow to open, resulting in My Milly Moo losing some ground. The matter was brought to the attention of the starter to be remedied prior to the next race. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of the mare, rider T Clark stated that his mount travelled only satisfactorily throughout and when placed under pressure failed to run on. He said in his opinion his mount raced flat and may have come to the end of its preparation. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any Marilisa raced wide without cover. App. A Skerritt was cautioned against the practice of applying the whip on her mount when it was clearly out of contention. Zijin Cheng briefly tightened for room near the 300m between Bluetwentytwo and Colonial Reign, which shifted out. Betrayed hung out in the straight. Lady Sansa when questioned regarding the performance of the mare, rider J Parr stated in his opinion the race was run solidly throughout the early and middle stages. He added approaching the 600m, when Chavo improved three wide, he shifted out to obtain a position to that runners inside trailing Bluetwentytwo. He said that rounding the home turn Lady Sansa was held up and he was unable to improve and, as the leaders had set a quick tempo, when they commenced to weaken he was further held up in the early part of the straight. J Parr further stated that after straightening his mount was positioned to the outside of the heels of Our Ventura and, whilst he noticed a narrow run had appeared to that runner s inside, bearing in mind where his mount was positioned in relation to the heels of Our Ventura, he was unable to shift Lady Sansa inwards and obtain this run. He said as a result his mount did not fully obtain clear running until approaching the 50m. J Parr further added that over the concluding stages he noticed that his saddle had shifted and for this reason when Lady Sansa had clear running he did not ride his mount out to the finish. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any RACE 7: Mektronics Australia Pty Ltd Benchmark 60 Handicap 2000m Ardanza raced wide without cover. Thunder Road briefly hampered by Eerised (App. J Van Overmeire), which shifted in near the 200m when insufficiently clear. App. Van Overmeire was advised he should stop and
5 straighten his mounts in future when they commence to shift ground and to exercise more care. O Reilly s Angel - App. B McDougall (Lindwall) was reprimanded for shifting his mount out when not clear of O Reilly s Angel, resulting in that runner being bumped on several occasions and both horses becoming unbalanced on straightening. Lindwall held up for clear running in the early part of the straight and shifted back to the inside of Letter To Juliette near the 250m in order to improve. Too Chic A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be displaying a poor post-race recovery and showing signs of tying up. Trainer Mr W Slinkard was advised that a veterinary clearance would be required prior to the mare s next start.
