I heard it is supposed to be colder up there this Winter than it was last year, so hopefully we will see even more of our friends from the North. John DiMenna and Lorraine Dienes are doing a wonderful job of running our Karaoke contest. Make sure you come in for the Finals on September 13 th and listen to some great local voices and help decide who wins the $500 first prize. We will not be serving lunch the week of September 8 th through the 12 th. Adele is taking a week to enjoy her family. She will be back beginning September 15 th. Our Legionnaire of the Month is Fernando Medina. He has been very busy at the Post helping in the kitchen. He has done such a good job, that he has replaced me for the Fish Fry on Friday s. Darn It ;-) As food prices continue to increase, we are asking that beginning in October you help us cover these increases by increasing the amount of your donations for our meals. We appreciate your help and understanding. A special Thank You, to everyone who has supported our Post this Summer. We have had a great Summer and continue to maintain a good position fiscally. The officers and I could not do it without your support. As always, if you have any questions, concerns or ideas for our Post, Please call me at the Post or stop in and see me. Gentlemen, do you remember when Barber Shops were not a franchise operation in a mall or filled with high dollar hair products? The Barber Shop used to be a place a guy could go for a haircut and shave while talking with other patrons or the Barber. Those days seem gone as the shop has turned into a salon. For those of us on the Treasure Coast, we are in luck. There is a Barber Shop here that has been in the same location since 1975 and provides all the memories of times gone by, including finishing your haircut with the shave of a straight razor. Best of all, it belongs to Pat Watkins a fellow Veteran, having served in the Navy. Pat recently purchased Don s Barber Shop, were he has worked for over 20 years. If you are looking for a good barber shop, stop in and see Pat. Haircuts are only $11 and the shop is located at 2935 S. US 1. (On The Corner of Emil and US 1) The shop is open Tuesday - Friday 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM and Saturday 8:30 AM to noon.
