Note from the President Charity Begins at Home By the time our next meeting rolls around we will be down to 33 days left until our annual Mustang & Ford Roundup. We should all be excited being this is our 40th annual Round-up this year and our clubs sponsor (Roberts Ford) 50th year as a Ford Dealership. A few of you have been here since the beginning, and some of you joined in the last few months, but wither you're in either of those groups or like most of us, in between, we wouldn't have had one round-up without YOU. Through hard work, hot weather, rain, small turn outs or gang busters like last year, through thick and thin you've been there. It's a lot of time and work you've put in, mostly unnoticed by others most times. But you've invested for others at your own expense, time, efforts and willingness to step up and give a hand for the good of the club, putting others before yourself and the most you can expect in return is a heartfelt "Thank You". With all the hard work we've done so far, we haven't finished the task yet. That won't be completed until after the last award is handed out and the last car/truck has left Robert lot on the 15th of July. In years past, we have had over $3,000 in our club account going into June. This year we have just under half that, and with $750-$1,000 going out on the day of the show to club charities and scholarships, you can see that we need all the help we can get. So I am asking each and every member (family) to try for just one sponsorship push at your local car parts, insurance, eatery, grocery store, movie house, sale barn, gas station, whatever, if you get my drift. You can download a copy of the Sponsorship Form that came with the newsletter. I was looking at our club roster the other day and seen that we have 109 members, and while we're hard pressed to get 25 to come to a monthly meeting. That's understandable. Life has priorities and a Mustang club meeting on a Tuesday night might be a hard pressed thing to do. So for those of you who get this newsletter and by that it means that you are certified members, if you never make a meeting, club event, cruise, please try to make it out for the car show. Bring a $3.97 bottle of car/tire shine from Wal-Mart as an attendance prize and heck if you enter you car even as a "display only" you'll get to pick out an attendance prize to take home with you. If you haven't made the annual Round-up in a few years make sure you try to make it this year as we've really tried to make it special being our 40th. We've got John Clor, a Ford Performance Superstar, who will be talking Ford Performance and giving away some pretty cool stuff, we have a Ford NASCAR truck and car coming, the Model T Club will be assembling, driving and then disassembling a Model T and then there's the Ford, Lincoln, Mercury's and of course Mustang's to fill the show lot. There will be the aroma of brats and burgers wafting thru the air thanks to Jeff and Jack and Theresa with her gang of gals to serve it up to you. You'll be able to cool off with a snow cone form Legendary Mustang Sanctuary while reminiscing to the oldies coming over the PA. Heck, it worth it just to show up and heckle the Corvette guys who will be judging our show again this year. If you haven't been around for a while because you thought the club had moved away from its roots, This year we listened to club members concerns and brought back the "Founders Trophy" and added a Best of Show award for Modified Mustang's! Most people who join a club think that if they show a car it has to look as if it's about to roll onto the Barrett-Jackson auction block. So I tell you here, from the horse's mouth (some say from the horses other end) I/we don't care if you went out and bought a new/used Ford 50 years ago, and kept it outside it's whole life, the SIMA Newsletter-June 2017 Page 4

engine compartment looks like a Texas oil well during a gusher and you got the standard sized STOP sign lying or welded across the floorboard or it smokes more that a Saturday night bar of more than 20 years ago, bring it out! We'd love to see it, we've all been there, are there, still there (me, more times than I care to remember). So for those of you that get this newsletter and that's all to have to show for your dues. please come out and say Hello, Kiss my fanny or whatever, we'd love to see you come out anyway. For those of you who signed up at the last meeting to help out--thank YOU!! I'm already looking forward to the brain freeze from the home-made ice cream on Friday nites pre-show set up (June 14). Lastly, special thanks for those that showed up to support the Legendary Mustang Sanctuary's "Mustang's for Mustang's" event on May 27th. I was unable to attend, due to work, but Kim was there for me in the afternoon along with Bill and his grandson Logan. You morning folks missed being interviewed by the local Alton Newspaper...well there's always next year...hope to see you all at the next meeting----steve Visit our website: http://soilmustang.org/ Car Show Roberts Ford July 15,2017 Introducing the M6A, the club of 6 cylinder mustangs only.
