I HAVE A DREAM (Troy Turner) Raced keenly in the early and middle stages and worked forward from the 1200m and raced wide to the 800m when obtaining the lead. When questioned regarding allowing his mount to stride forward and take the lead between the 1200m and the 800m, rider explained that approaching the 1200m when racing keenly the pace had reduced marginally and he was of the opinion that it would be advantageous to allow his mount to stride forward without having to be urged and to take the lead approaching the 800m. He further explained that he had been instructed that should the pace reduce he was to have the gelding in a forward position as he was one-paced. Trainer Mr I. Haggerty confirmed that he had instructed the rider to ride the gelding forward should the pace reduce. TONED (William Pike) Impeded behind the heels of a tiring runner between the 600m and the 400m. RACE 3: TABtouch.com.au HANDICAP - 1100M STEEL ALMIGHTY (Clint Harvey) Dipped on jumping. DAWN APPROACH (Shaun Meeres) When questioned with regard to his mount leading in today s event, rider explained that he had not been given specific instructions and was always of the opinion that he would be racing in third or fourth position with cover, however after commencing well from an inside barrier the gelding had moved into a favourable forward position without any effort and in view of not being challenged for the lead allowed the gelding to stride forward and obtain the lead and set a moderate pace as in his opinion this was the best tactic to adopt given the circumstances. RESPONDENT (William Pike) Bumped at the start and crowded shortly after. When racing keenly shifted outwards away from heels at the 700m and bumped with another runner. Raced wide on straightening. DANABLUE (Ben Paterson) Raced wide throughout. LITTLE SHADOW (Patrick Carbery) Mis-strode near the 700m. General: Stewards inquired into the reason for BELTANE (S. Meeres) having to restrain at the 100m. It was established that THUNDERLUV N (J. Azzopardi) which had been racing on a straight course had shifted inwards and away from SHINING KNIGHT(Jerry Noske) which had lay inwards and shifted ground towards this runner. This had resulted in BELTANE (S. Meeres) being tightened for room and having to restrain. When considering the evidence tendered by the riders as well as the vision, Stewards were mindful of the fact that SHINING KNIGHT when laying inwards, may have influenced THUNDERLUV N shifting inwards marginally which had resulted in BELTANE having to restrain from THUNDERLUV N heels. Stewards were of the opinion that no rider had ridden carelessly and as a result no further action was taken. GENERAL Routine specimens were taken from all winners. Pre-race blood samples were taken from: Race 2. FLIRT WITH TIME, TONED Race 4. FORT LOTUS, SAXON S PATCH Race 5. VAMPI LASS, KAI S DIAMOND
