COMMUNITY $300,000 C O N T R I B U T I O N S Caloundra Newsletter Spring 2018. Dicky Beach Surf Life Saving Club wins 2018 Summer Surf Girl. The future is bright for the Dicky Beach Surf Life Saving Club with new funding in place thanks to the crowning of Jessica Simpson as Surf Life Saving Queensland (SLSQ) 2018 Summer Surf Girl. Our Caloundra Community Bank Branch is a proud sponsor of the Dicky Beach Surf Life Saving Club and has been actively involved in supporting the Club s activities over several years. The SLSQ Summer Surf Girl Program is one of many programs undertaken by the Club, encouraging female members to develop their skills and experience for use both within and outside surf lifesaving. The Summer Surf Girl Program has now injected more than $15.8 million into surf lifesaving clubs throughout Queensland since the program s inception in 1964. All funds raised go back to the host club to be used in a variety of ways such as the maintenance and purchase of new rescue equipment, surf safety education, member development, growing volunteer memberships and expanding training programs. Jessica Simpson wins SLSQ 2018 Summer Surf Girl. Jess Simpson has been a member of Dicky Beach Surf Life Saving Club since 2005 when she joined as a nipper. She is now a Board Member chairing the Lifesaving Operations Committee; a member of the SLSQ UQ 18-30 Leadership Excellence Program Coordination Team and is also a Patrol Captain holding over 70 lifesaving awards including being a qualified Bronze Medallion Trainer and Assessor. Jess is also heavily involved in developing youth in surf lifesaving, leading and mentoring several branch and state leadership programs. Congratulations to you Jess from all of us at Caloundra Community Bank Branch. We wish you a wonderful year ahead and thank you for all your time and efforts as we work together to make our beaches safe. Congratulations to Jess and the Dicky Beach Surf Life Saving Club. Spot some familiar faces on the big screen! Several of our Caloundra community groups have come together to be involved in a new Caloundra Community Bank Branch campaign titled Make the Change. These community groups along with sporting, emergency services and other community groups from across the Sunshine and Cooloola Coast will soon be seeing themselves featured on Channel 7 as well as on Bigscreen Cinemas Caloundra. You ll be able to spot some familiar Caloundra faces from the Dicky Beach Surf Life Saving Club, Moffat Beach Netball Club and the QuoCKa Reading Program all of whom were happy to pluck up the courage and speak in front of the camera to promote our partnerships. They all know first-hand the difference we ve been able to make in the local community. Whilst our Caloundra Community Bank Branch is a sponsor of these organisations, providing muchneeded financial assistance where it counts, we re much more than that. We partner with these and several other local groups because we know that the foundation for strong families is a strong community. Strong communities bring both economic and social benefit to all Caloundra locals. If you aren t already a customer of Caloundra Community Bank Branch, we encourage you to Make the Change today. We re a full-service bank with all the products and services as well as top-rating customer service and a Branch Manager you can speak with anywhere, any time it suits you. To make the change today, visit our branch at 99 Bulcock Street Caloundra or phone 5492 5267 and ask to speak with Pip. Dicky Beach Surf Life Saving Club also star in our Make the Change TV campaign. Moffat Beach Netball Club during filming. Popularity of Caloundra City Soccer Club created the need for more playing fields. Caloundra City Soccer Club has always been a highly sought-after club on the Coast but with over 600 junior and senior players, they were forced to look for additional playing fields to finish the season. Fortunately, the season has been taken care of with an agreement in place with Golden Beach State School. Thanks also to the assistance of grants, the club now has an extra two full size fields hosting games each time Caloundra has home games. It means the majority of Caloundra City Soccer Club s competitive teams only needed to travel to Golden Beach and not further afield to other clubs such as Noosa and Mudjimba. The Club s popularity continues to explode. Our branch team joins in the fun with the soccer community. As the biggest soccer club on the Coast, its little surprise they also dominate competitions. Given their impressive 2017 results, which saw eight teams from U11 upwards and their ladies win the Grand Final, there s plenty of excitement building for a stellar finish to the 2018 season. Our Caloundra Community Bank Branch is proud to be a long-time sponsor of Caloundra City Soccer Club.

You can have it all with these credit card tips. Here s a few handy reminders when it comes to managing your credit card debt. With the cost of living continuing to go up, it s more important than ever that you are on top of your credit card debt. Step 1 Look for low interest. Interest rates are charged as a percentage of your outstanding loan so it s important to shop around to find the best card that suits your needs without incurring a high interest rate. Bendigo Bank s Low Rate Mastercard is a good one because it gives you access to some of the lowest interest rates available. If your current credit card has the same interest rate as Bendigo Bank s you could still be paying more based on how and when you re charged interest. At Bendigo Bank, you re only charged interest from the time of your statement not from the time of your purchase, and it s based on the amount you don t repay in full. When you add it up, it could be around a 50% saving on each bill. Step 2 Pay it off asap. Get in the habit of paying off your credit card every time your income comes in or pay at least the minimum by your statement s due date and maximize your 55 days interest-free. Set yourself up with a budget so you know what you can put straight onto your credit card. QuoCKa expands reading program. Our Caloundra Community Bank Branch has continued its very successful partnership with QuoCKa which this year expanded its reading program to include Caloundra State School as well as Currimundi Primary School. The QuoCKa program is a weekly reading program to improve relationships between community leaders and young students. Caloundra State School was the first beneficiary of the program which started last year. Quota International of Caloundra and Caloundra Community Bank Branch as well as several community leaders read each week to a child who is presented a new book for Year 2 and 3 students. Volunteers read in small reading groups while a second copy is donated to the school library. Branch Manager Pip Fawcett said the reading program gave the Caloundra Community Bank Branch the opportunity to deepen its relationship with local schools. While we support a lot of school age children and families with our school banking program, we re always on the look out to see what else we can do to help. We believe QuoCKa have fielded more interest in this program from other schools so we re going to be reading a lot of books at this rate! said Pip. Step 3 Budget for luxury extras. We all have living expenses but it s nice to also allow yourself some spending money for those things that bring you joy whether that be small ticket items like a morning coffee or bigger ones like an annual holiday. The truth is you can enjoy these luxury extras if you budget for them. It just may require you to pull back in some areas of spending. You might like to put a little money aside into a credit card fund that you can use for this discretionary spending but as it s already set aside, there s no interest, repayment, or debt. For further information on Bendigo Bank s Low Rate Mastercard, visit us in branch at 99 Bulcock Street, Caloundra or apply online at www.bendigobank.com.au/creditcards Bendigo Loans and Credit Cards are subject to terms and conditions, fees and charges apply. All loans are subject to Bendigo Bank s normal lending criteria. Bendigo and Adelaide Bank Limited ABN 11 068 049 178. AFSL/Australian Credit Licence 237879. QuoCKa volunteers and some of their readers visit us in branch. Friends share some great credit card advice. Caloundra State School shows its appreciation.

Zonta International Women s Day breakfast. The Zonta Club of Caloundra City International was all abuzz hosting the 2018 International Women s Day breakfast. International Women s Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. Our branch team invited students from Caloundra State High to join us at this motivational morning. A highlight was listening to guest speaker Roz White from IGA tell her story, It was great to share the table with these lovely young girls, all of whom were equally impressed by the morning and the message that we need to stand up and press for change. Caloundra State High School students enjoy their first Zonta IWD breakfast as guests of our branch team. Welcome to the Board Karolyn Keogh. Our Caloundra Community Bank Branch extends a warm welcome to Karolyn Keogh who is the newest member of our Board of Directors. Karolyn takes on the role of Company Secretary and comes well qualified for the position. Karolyn Keogh is the newest addition to our Board of Directors. As a personal assistant with Robyn Hills Photography, Karolyn fulfils various reception and office administration duties. She plays a pivotal role in organising her manager s workday whilst working as an integral member of the team. Her passion lies in finding solutions that satisfies both her employer and their customers a key attribute desired by our Community Bank network. Karolyn said she was inspired by the Community Bank concept. Bringing people together and supporting these projects through sponsorships and donations is a wonderful way of creating the sense of community which is sometimes lacking in our busy modern society. It s a great way to meet people from all walks of life and create opportunity and inspiration for those who may not always have the chance to do so themselves, said Karolyn. Karolyn will be a great asset to our team going forward and we look forward to seeing Karolyn out and about in our community as a representative of our Caloundra Community Bank Branch. Moffat Beach netball girls go for gold. It s a new bar that s been set by Moffat Beach Netball Club which is officially now the largest netball club in the district. Club President Maleesa Dukes said it was testament to the growing popularity of the sport. Netball has always been a hugely popular sport for girls, but I d like to also think our explosion from 11 teams to 17 this season is in response to the positive culture of our Club, said Maleesa. The fact we have the Sunshine Coast Lightning team, a national premiership team, based here on the Coast and Netball Queensland s decision to lower the starting age to seven has also fuelled interest in the sport. Moffat Beach Netball Club is a non-for-profit organisation that focuses on giving young girls skills that can be transferred into adulthood. Our Caloundra Community Bank Branch is a passionate supporter of the Club providing financial assistance to help offset the fees and playing uniforms for families. The Club continues to fundraise for new equipment and training facilities such is their impressive growth. Moffat Beach Netball Club numbers continue to swell. Sporting clubs realise the benefits of the Club Referral Program. Another Caloundra Community Bank Branch Just Tri It Series has wrapped for the year and no newsletter is complete without a few photos from this fantastic community event. We ve been a long-time supporter of the Caloundra Triathlon Club and in a show of solidarity they ve now also joined Caloundra Rugby Union, Wind n Sea and Dicky Beach Surf Life Saving Clubs on our Club Referral Program. The program gives fantastic benefits to clubs who have signed up. The Referral Program is simple. If any club member takes out a loan, a new business overdraft or a credit card facility with the Caloundra Community Bank Branch, the club will receive a payment which will amount to an agreed percentage of the loan amount. There s also benefits available to members with further discount rates. We re here to give back to our community and we ll do it anyway we can if you re interested in setting up a Club Referral agreement with your club, then let s chat. Visit the Caloundra Community Bank Branch at 99 Bulcock Street, Caloundra or phone and ask for Pip on 5492 5289. Wind n Sea Surf Club. Caloundra Junior Rugby Union. The Caloundra Triathlon Club joins the Bendigo Bank Club Referral Program which provides a financial windfall to sporting clubs across the Coast.

Our branch reaches double digits! Another year means another birthday for our Caloundra Community Bank Branch. This year legs eleven was our lucky number! Celebrations were kept a little more low key compared to last years event held at the Caloundra Rugby Union Club, but we still managed to celebrate in style. Our Community Bank branch staff kicked the celebrations off in high gear by throwing a birthday party in the branch. Our customers also joined in on the birthday celebrations with us, enjoying birthday cake and goodies throughout the day. Thank you so much to all our wonderful customers for making our Caloundra Community Bank Branch such a success for the last 11 years, we look forward to celebrating many more birthdays with you.
