Minutes of previous annual general meeting CANTERBURY LITTLE ATHLETICS MINUTES OF ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING Friday 27 March 2015 Present: Executive committee members, age managers, athletes, parents and friends Welcome The president welcomed the athletes, parents and friends to Canterbury Little Athletics Centre annual general meeting and presentation night. Minutes of previous AGM were circulated. Minutes were accepted as a true record of the previous AGM All committee positions were declared vacant. Nominations received for the executive committee were accepted. All those nominated were elected unopposed for our next season. Age managers for next season Current age managers have been nominated for the 2015/2016 season and nominations have been accepted. However, several new age managers are required next season and expressions of interest will be followed up. There being no further business, the president welcomed and thanked the new executive committee for accepting their roles for next season and declared the AGM closed. Presentation of awards followed. PRESIDENT'S REPORT Our centre is fortunate to have an active and involved executive committee and age managers. I'd like to mention in particular the continuing contribution from Jim Hondros in setting up and managing the Friday night competition, the energy Sarah Milbourn has brought to the role of secretary including improving centre communications, and the efforts of Amil Pagliasso not just in looking after equipment but also providing throws coaching and maintaining our involvement with school athletics carnivals. This season I am very glad to report that we have been able to expand our coaching program. The efforts of coaches Christopher King, Bradley Woods and Amil Pagliasso have seen increased participation in cross-country, greater success in championships and a number of centre records broken in particular in the javelin event. There is always a need for volunteers to take responsibility for the many roles and tasks involved in running an athletics centre. Whether it be setting up and managing competition on Friday nights, helping with coaching, communicating with parents, volunteering at carnivals, fixing equipment or getting grants to upgrade facilities, we all have something to offer and the rewards are clear to see in the children's enthusiasm, enjoyment and success. This has been a difficult season in some ways with many wet Fridays and the change to the zone and region timetable, which has been disruptive. On the other hand we have seen increased participation in state cross-country and state relay championships and many of our athletes achieved great results throughout the year. I congratulate all the athletes and the parents, helpers and community members who have supported them. I would like to welcome the new committee and wish you all the best for the coming season. Tim Pullen

SECRETARY'S REPORT My first season as Secretary has been a busy one. The season was off to a flying start with State Relay Championships, where Canterbury entered a record number of 18 teams and came away with two medals. Soon after, Zone Championships were upon us and we had many successes here and in the progression through to Regional and State. This season has seen us introduce the use of an online rostering system for rosters and signing up for championship events, as well as growing our coaching staff, where our results have shown our training successes. This role is certainly a consuming and busy one, but a rewarding one also, when you see the successes and smiles of our athletes. A big thank you to Lesley Rodgers, who has guided me in the right direction and pointed the way. Also to Robyn Meakins with her assistance with our training program, championship entries and parent volunteer rosters. Lastly, to all of our hard working committee members and parent volunteers. I hope you all enjoy a well-earned rest and will see you back for season 2016/17! Sarah Milbourn REGISTRAR'S REPORT Well where did the season go? It seems like we only just got started and now it is over. We did have quite a few cancellations due to bad weather, but there s not much we can do to change that. I won t bore everyone with statistics, except to say that we had 545 registered athletes this year. # of Athletes Registration Breakdown: Age Groups Total Kids Male Female TT 54 29 25 6 55 35 20 7 50 21 29 8 71 28 43 9 68 41 27 10 61 29 32 11 49 24 25 12 43 22 21 13 44 22 22 14 24 10 14 15 13 7 6 17 13 9 4 80 60 40 20 0 TT 6 545 277 268 Athletes 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 Female 25 20 29 43 27 32 25 21 22 14 6 4 Male 29 35 21 28 41 29 24 22 22 10 7 9 17 Registering on-line was a huge success this season. Our goal for next season is to get 100% registering on-line. Registering on-line means that every child is in the Results HQ system almost immediately. Registrations for the 2016/17 will open online on August 1 2016, via the LANSW website. All Registrations for the 2016/17 will be ONLINE ONLY. For the first time we will be holding a Registration Day at Campbell Field on Saturday August 27, 2016. This is the day that you will pick up your registration packs and purchase your uniforms. There will be no dedicated trial nights for season 2016/17. Keep your eye on Facebook and the Website for the times and further details. Lesley Rodgers

TINY TOTS REPORT This season, the Tiny Tots had a whole lot of fun releasing all their Friday afternoon energy. They undertook numerous activities which not only helped develop and improve valuable skills but saw them working together as a group. As the season progressed they learnt the importance of listening, forming and staying in straight lines and waiting patiently for their turn. Each week the tots continued to surprise me with the improvements they made in their running, jumping and throwing. They learnt the long jump basics, taking a run up and pushing off with one foot into the sand. Jumping further and better with each jump as the weeks progressed. Their concentration was superb when running the hurdles, learning the basic shot put technique and completing various running and jumping activities. The free races in the second half of the season were a definite highlight, with all the kids getting very excited to run against one another and get an introduction to competition. A special thank you to all the parents who came out each week with their beautiful children. All of this would have been impossible without your constant help and assistance with setting up, packing up and giving the children constant encouragement and direction with each activity throughout the season. It was truly a joy to age manage such a great group and I hope that everyone had as much fun as I did. J Katerina Giannelis their events. Also, a big well done to Tallara for breaking a long-standing record for discus. A big thank you to all of the helpers who gave their time each week. I would especially like to thank Katherine, one of the U9 managers for all her help throughout the season and for entering the U7 results each week. Congratulations to all trophy and medal recipients. See you all for the 2016/17 season. Steve Sipura U8 REPORT 2016 was a great year for the U8 s. It was the first year they could access event specific coaching during Monday and Wednesday night training and that led to a great improvement in skills. We saw Personal Best (PB) times and distances being improved week in - week out and even had 2 of our girls break a long standing club record. In October, Claudia Meaker and Mariella Speak both broke the 700m record in the same race with times of 2:47.25 and 2:45.23 respectively. Claudia then went on to break her own record two more times, running 2:42.54 in Feburary and 2:41.47 in March. Well done Claudia and Mariella. A lot of the U8 s have been together for 4 years now and this has seen the development of friendship, support and encouragement between the athletes. It has been great to see the athlete s rivalry but also the celebration of each other s success. U6 REPORT The U6 age group showed great improvements over the season with many PBs changing with each competition. This season has been a big learning curve for all of us, for the kids starting competition for the first time and many of the volunteers starting coaching for the first time. Thank-you to all the volunteers helping out each week, without you we could not have run, jumped or thrown anything. I hope everyone got to have fun each week and I m looking forward to seeing many familiar faces back again next season. Ruth Eaton U7 REPORT I would like to thank all of you for being part of the 2015/16 season. A special congratulations goes out to all who participated in the Zone Championships, especially to Julia, Angelina and Tallara, who were awarded medals for placing in Finally, a big thank you to all the parent helpers that helped with measuring, marshalling, kids games etc. This ensured the kids were kept busy and the night ran as smoothly as possible. Thanks again to all the athletes and parents and we hope to see you again for the 2016/17 season. Rebecca Cicco and Grant McIntyre U9 REPORT Congratulations to all the U9 athletes for a wonderful season. It was great to see week after week each athlete striving to do their best and beating their personal best times and distances. There were huge improvements from all our athletes over the season because they didn't give up and kept giving their all. All the 9 athletes should be very proud of their achievements this year. We had some fierce competition this season and would like to give a

special mention to the athletes who made this season so exciting. For the boys: Dan, Alec, Deegan, Mark, Calin, Jesse, Archie and Ali, and for the girls: Olivia, Liyara, Siarley, Charlotte, Claire, Sofia, Madeline and Bellamia. A huge pat on the back to Alec who broke the club record for the 60m Hurdles with a time of 10.48 sec and came 2 nd in Long Jump at the State Championships. Well done to our athletes who represented the club at the zone, regional and state levels, we had some outstanding results.. Little A s wouldn't run smoothly without the help of a valuable few that help week in and week out. Their help makes all the difference, so we would like to give a huge thanks to Steve, Christine, and the Wilson and Bruscino families, we couldn't have done it without you. A special thanks to the committee, starters, time-keepers and helpers who make Friday nights possible. See you all next year. Katherine O Brien & Julie Colubriale U10 REPORT Congratulations and thanks to all the Little Athletes for their fair play and participation this past season. All athletes achieved personal bests during the season, and as athletics is a sport where you compete more against yourself than others, then that is all an athlete can do, their best on any day. Thank you to all 10 CLAC Little Athlete parents/guardians/friends/family who helped either directly with 10s or elsewhere at the Centre; without whose help there would be no Little Athletics. Thanks to the officers and officials of the Centre and Association who provide the opportunity for the Little Athletes each Friday during the season and at the Zone, Regional and State Championships. I would like to extend my thanks and the children s thanks to Forte, Sandra, Cathy, Sheila, Michelle, Evan, Antonella, Neisha and Kerry for your assistance with the U10s this past season if I have forgotten any one, my apologies. For those athletes (and family) who attended Zone, Regional and State Championships I hope that you enjoyed yourselves and achieved what you desired. Thanks to Emma Arthur with U10s and in the canteen. I hope you complete your Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award successfully. Whether your child continues with Little Athletics I hope that sport and the great outdoors continue to be part of theirs and your lives, as it has much to add to life. See you in September 2016, remember that there will no trial nights in 2016/17 season, the point score competition will start early September. Ps Cross country training is being held Wednesday afternoon/evenings during the winter. Alan Mansfield U11 REPORT 49 athletes enrolled for the 2015-16 including a number of new faces. They joined a group of kids who have been together now for several seasons and together formed an extremely pleasant group. This is a particularly strong age-group who excelled at all the events, including new additions of the triple jump and javelin. Four athletes set seven club records between them: Joy (shot put), Jack (discus, javelin, shot put), Jonathon (1500m), Uchenna (high jump, long jump). At the state relays in September, our boys brought home the gold in the shotput/discus, Canterbury s first in almost quarter of a century Uchenna, Oscar, Jerome and Jack, and are still smiling! Congratulations to all who represented the club at Zone Championships and those who qualified for Regional Championships Charlotte, Joy, Juliette, Niamh, Alessio, Jack, Jerome, Jonathon, Lloyd, Oscar and Uchenna. Special congratulations to the six athletes who made it to state, Joy (shot put), Niamh (800m, 1500m), Jack (discus, javelin, shot put, triple jump), Jonathon (400m, 800m, 1500m), Oscar (shotput) and Uchenna (High Jump, Long Jump). A final congratulations goes to Jack who braved the oppressive heat of Dubbo to take home silver in the state multi-event! Many of the kids have parents who work tirelessly behind the scenes as well as volunteering in various roles on the Friday nights, without whom the club would not work. Special thank you s to our regular helpers: Cas, Vikki, Marcelo, Ian, Sandy, Mary, Michelle, and Neisha, and everyone else who put in a shift or two. As some of us are moving on next year and high school commitments start to kick in for some of the kids, this age-group will be looking for new helpers, so please let us know if you can assist. Steve Greaves, Alan Brnabic, & John Milbourn

U12 REPORT It has been another fun and exciting season, where all the U12 athletes got in there and had a go and enjoyed time with their friends. Great to see. Here special mention for their efforts includes, Aimee, Isabella O, Grace, Jerome, Aidan, Aanchal and Francesca. Watching these children have a go and their positive attitudes, makes being an age manager worthwhile. Most importantly, I want to thank all the parents volunteers who are the key to making comp night run smoothly. Special thanks to Rita, Lesa, Sophie, Francesca s mum (sorry, cant remember your name), Belinda and Patricia. Records were broken this season by, Isabella M (800m), Bili (Javelin), Antton (Javelin) and Minti (Javelin). Awesome!! In late November 2015, we had a highly motivated group of athletes go to the State Relays. Great attitude in training by all of them. Boys 4x100m came 4 th and mixed 4x400m came 2 nd. Exciting day.and next year will be even better, and that includes the girls 4x100m (unlucky this year). Let s do it again! We had a big group go to zone in mid December 2015. Again, reflecting the U12 s great attitude. A big well done to all athletes, Marina, Riley, Ava, Alexandra Katsilis, Alexandra Kayrouz, Isabella M, Zac, Odili, Essence, Antton, Bili, Minti, Daniel, Ritika and Alex. Then it was on to Regionals in late January 2016 for, Riley, Ava, Alexandra Katsilis, Alexandra Kayrouz, Isabella M, Zac, Odili, Bili, Minti, Daniel, Ritika and Alex. Great performances by all. Well done to Bili (high jump, 800m, 1500), Isabella M (800m, 1500m), Antton (javelin), Ava (1500m), and Daniel (100m) on getting through to State! Thank you again to all U12 athletes for a great year. Looking forward to 2016/17. See you then! Dom Honore U13 REPORT For the under 13's it was an eventful season with lots of rained out days. I hope that all of you take on the ethic of giving all events a go. It is not about winning it is about giving it a go and not giving in. It is about trying something different or working on something you are not good at and trying to improve, who knows what can happen. Above all, is it about keeping active and fit and enjoying the evening. I would like to give a special thanks to Mrs Jugnarain, who had been a great help all year in assisting with the U13's. There were some good performances this year, Tuv breaking the club record on the last evening in the triple jump and strong performances by many, achieving PB's on a regular basis. Outside of CLAC there were good performances in region and state. Keep it up guys and hope to see you all next season. Peter Dimos U14-17 REPORT The following athletes competed at Zone in December Annika Haller (U14G Discus, 100m, 200m, Long Jump, 80m Hurdles), Latisha Yeboah (U15G Discus, High Jump, Javelin), Angelina Agamemnonos (U15G 3000m, 800m, 1500m Walk), Adrien Triccas (U14B 1500m Walk), Oliver Chaves (U14B 100m, 800m, 90m Hurdles, 200m, 200m Hurdles, 1500m Walk), Nicholas Katsilis (U17B 400m, 800m, 1500m, 3000m), Finbarr Warren (U17B 400m, 800m, 1500m), Will Roberts (U17B 100m, 200m). All of these athletes qualified for and competed at the Region Carnival held at Sylvania Waters. We were represented at the State Carnival from 18-20 March 2016 at Sydney Olympic Park Athletic Centre by Latisha (High Jump), Angelina (1500m Walk), Nicholas (3000m), Finbarr (800m, 1500m), Will (100m, 200m), Jessica Filocamo (U15-17G T/F20 100m, 800m, Discus, Long Jump). Results are unavailable at time of writing. Several old club records were broken Erica Hondros (14 girls Javelin), Latisha Yeboah (15 girls Javelin), Emily Campbell (17 girls 1500m Walk and Javelin), and Nicholas Katsilis (17 boys 400m, 800m, 1500m and 3000m). Well done to all those athletes who represented at Championship Carnivals and broke club records, and well done to all of the athletes for turning up and having a go and I hope you all enjoyed the season and will be back next year, except you 2 nd year U17s to whom I wish a fond farewell. Peter Murray
