STATUS REPORT MARCH/APRIL 2018 2018 is on the roll and many programs, events and AGM s are at the order of the day. EDEN was the recipient of over the R2m for sport development for the 2018/19 year of which the sport community of the Eden district is proud of. The organising of the BTG that will be hosted in George this year, the 2018 Farm Workers Sport Day schedule for 12 May in Worcester and the EDENSC Sport Awards, are main projects on the Eden sport calendar. The EXCO is also steadily implementing the decisions taken at their strategic planning workshop early in January 2018. The EDENSC however remain true to its vision to serve their members in the best possible way irrespective of the financial outcome of the funding grants received. AMINISTRATION The R101 500 grant from DCAS that is now ring fenched for administration, S & T and Projects is not sufficient to service the 51 federations and 7 municipal sport councils and subsequent other methods of funding need to be investigated. This will, like last year, worked in detrimentally on the service delivery especially in the field of capacity building and commission activities. In order to streamline the operations of the EDENSC, bi-lateral meetings were held with all the commissions and the restructuring of the commissions are now a priority as the success of the EDENSC relies heavily on the work done by the commissions. MEMBERSHIP The affiliation of EDENSC is at present 51 DSF S and 7 LSC s affiliations. The target is to at least affiliate 3 more federations in 2018. At present EDENSC is proud to report that 42 of the 51 federations are now functioning under the EDEN name! MEETINGS The following scheduled EDENSC EXCO & MANCO and relevant meetings took place in this period: 5 March - EDENSC Coaches Commission, George 7 March - EDENSC MANCO meeting, Oudtshoorn 15 March - EDEN Sport Academy Stakeholders Meeting, Oudtshoorn 27 March - EDENSC Women Sport Commission Meeting, George 28 March - EDENSC MANCO meeting, Financial meeting, Oudtshoorn 5 April - EDENSC Commission Bi-laterals, George 12 April - EDEN Sport Academy Review Sessions, Oudtshoorn 17 April - DCAS/EDEN Cheque Handover Ceremony, Riversdale 23 April - EDENSC MANCO meeting, Oudtshoorn ANNUAL GENERAL MEETINGS/FUNCTIONS ATTENDED 12 March - EDEN Bowls Inter District Opening, Oudtshoorn 13 March - EDEN School Sport AGM, Pacaltsdorp 13 March - SWD Rugby Legends, Pacaltsdorp 15 March - EDEN Badminton AGM, Oudtshoorn 21 March - OUDTSHOORN Municipal Sport Council Indaba, Oudtshoorn 24 March - EDEN Hunting Rifle Awards, Waboomskraal, George 25 March - EDEN MPA Clinic, Oudtshoorn 7 April - EDEN Aquatics Level 2 Gala Opening, Oudtshoorn 1

The bottom line again was funding to fulfil their mandate. Regular reports on a template will be submitted and each commission is expected to at least host one major project per year. Bi-laterals will be scheduled on a regular base. 2 SWD CRICKET ANNUAL AWARDS 20 April 2018, Oudtshoorn De Opstal near Schoemanshoek was the venue of the SWD Cricket Annual Awards Function 2018 and true to the standard of CSWD this events was no different. Union Stars Cricket Club was the "star" of the night walking away with most of the awards on offer. The SWD team was awarded the Team of the Season Award and Knysna CC the promotion award. Jean du Plessis left his legacy by presenting his #10 SA cricket shirt to CSWD. Johan Weyers of Cricket SA delivered the keynote and the core of his message was that even be overlooked for SWD teams at school level, persistent passion lead to be recognised later. EDENSC was represented by Desmond Speelman and Dave van der Walt. EDENSC is proud of a federation of the calibre of Cricket SWD. 3 INTER DISTRICT BOWLS TOURNAMENT, EDEN 12 April 2018, Oudtshoorn & George The Oudtshoorn Municipality in the person of their executive mayor, Colan Sylvestor, welcomed all the bowls players from all over the country to the SA Inter Districts Bowling Tournament hosted by Eden Bowls in Oudtshoorn [Ladies] and Men [George]. 4 HESSEQUA SPORT COUNCIL SPORT DAY 31 March 2018, Riversdale Hierdie Sportfees was n eerste vir Hessequa en is aangebied deur die Hessequa Sportraad in samewerking met die Hessequa Munisipaliteit. Hessequa se munisipale sportraad stel werklik n voorbeeld aan alle ander MSR e! 5 COMMONWEALTH GAME 4 to 15 April 2018, Gold Coast, Australia EDENSC is very proud on the sport persons from the Eden district who represented South Africa at the Commonwealth Games in Australia.
