VOLUME 45, ISSUE 08 Fort Wayne Ski Club APRIL 2013 www.fwsc.org 4420 Ardmore Ave Fort Wayne, IN FRANKIE AND THE BANANAS LECTIONS @ 8:30 PM WARDS @ 9:30 PM ELECTIONS RACING AWARDS

By Michael Ehle President Spring is in the air, although it still is a bit chilly. Our ski trips are almost over (still snow out there) and now we look to the spring and summer activities. Don t miss our last party of this season, April 5 th! It is an important meeting with elections of Officers and Board Members! If you would like to help the Club by becoming an Officer, please let Brad Lawson or any Officer know of your interest. Please be active in your club, keep it running great. Also, don t forget the Bull Riding Rodeo on March 30 th and contact me at 260.657.3424, if you have any questions. What can I say about ASPEN; besides perfect weather, 3 days snow 3 days sunshine? There was great snow on all 4 mountains, from the green cruisers to the rolling blues like corduroy in the morning and don t forget the blacks with their challenging bumps. For me, it was the double diamonds that I ll never forget. Thanks to Hal Atkinson, I had the opportunity to ski one of Snowmass s legendary runs! I wasn t able to ski with everyone but the members I did, we encountered the true Aspen experience! I d like to thank all the members who went to Aspen and made my trip very special! And a special thanks to Hal for being our guide and Larry Trumbull for skiing all those wicked runs with me! I asked the racers to show the Chicago clubs that FWSC has good racers too. And they did! Our club took the most medals of all 13 attending clubs! Marianne Watkins was again top woman on the mountain. Larry Trumbull, top male in our club, placed 4 th overall. I saw fast runs and great form. I also saw Suzanne take out the finish line camera (sorry Suzanne). There was plenty of great action on the mountain. Now our thoughts go to BIG SKY in 2014! YOU WON T WANT TO MISS THIS TRIP! Not only is the downhill skiing great, but there is beautiful cross country skiing and fantastic snowmobiling as well. Yellowstone is a short drive away, in all its splendor. It is truly a trip to be had. I m looking forward to our April 5 th meeting, see you all there!
