Pullman High School Hound s Den A newsletter connecting the Pullman High School Community Principal's Message November is a busy month here at PHS! From celebrating our local veterans, to our fall play, an abundance of fall sports playoff games (not to mention the beginning of winter sports), concerts, fundraisers, you name it Pullman High has been a hub of positive activity. On Monday, November 6th, Pullman High School students and staff were able to honor many of our local veterans, including our own Mr. Jake Bledsoe and Mr. Garren Shannon. In addition, we heard many of these veterans speak about their experiences, what it means to serve, and the importance of honoring all of those who have sacrificed for their country. We appreciate their efforts and sharing their stories with us. A special thank you to our Leadership class for organizing the event, our band for their amazing musical accompaniment and to our Veteran speakers and attendees: Chris Rehwaldt Bob Rehwaldt Eunice Coker Garren Shannon Jake Bledsoe Jerry Coker Ted Weatherly Bill King Al Leguis Remember, that in honor of Veteran s Day, there will be no school this Friday, November 10th. Also, the week of November 20th 24th is Thanksgiving Break. Please reflect over these two important holidays about those in our lives that we honor and are thankful for. We hope that everyone has a wonderful holiday break; I know am very thankful for the dedication and hard work of both our students and staff this school year, which I know we will continue into the new year. INTRODUCING MS CARR: PHS School HEALTH Announcements ROOM My name is Debbie Carr and I am the new school nurse at PHS. I come with many years of experience, most of it in hospital nursing. My husband & I just moved to Pullman at the end of the summer. We moved here to be closer to 4 of our 5 grandchildren. So far we love it here in Pullman. I have enjoyed getting to meet some of the students when they come to see me at the Health Room. Let me encourage everyone to think about getting a flu shot for their students. I m sorry to those of you that think that I am being a nag for asking about health care plans & vaccination records. I am new, but I know that I must follow what is mandated by the State of WA. And thank you to everyone that has supplied what I have been asking for. Remember to have everyone in your household drink plenty of fluids, water is great, this winter season. The indoor heat can dry out our mucous membranes and that can cause some dehydration. Hound s Den Page 4
