By Regional Executive, Tony Brown HAPPY NEW YEAR Cincinnati Region!! I hope everyone had a great holiday season and received all of the nifty car improvement parts they were wishing for! 2013 is quickly shaping up to being one of the most challenging and active seasons for the Cincinnati Region in recent memory. The Cincinnati Region has a reputation for hosting professional and well planned events. These have been orchestrated by a dedicated core group of volunteers that are always looking for new "partners in crime". And this year will be no different with our Membership Marketing events that kick-off in January & February at the car shows downtown! Our Race, PDX and SOLO chairs and committees are busy solidifying the 2013 events and schedules as I type this. And I am as excited as everyone else to see the fruits of their labors! Also for 2013, look for some enhanced member opportunities to have fun and socialize! Your new board of directors are looking at some options to "mixing it up" with our current monthly membership meeting format to make it more enticing to come out and meet the other members of our great Cincinnati Region. If you have some ideas or options you would like to share, please contact myself or anyone else on the left side of this page! Finally, I'd like to thank our previous R.E. and Board members for their dedication and service. And challenge the new Board members (myself included) to keeping their eyes focused forward and continue making the Cincinnati Region the most active, professional and FUN region of the Sports Car Club of America! 2013 Club Race News By Jerry Cabe Slow but steady progress is being made toward the August 9-11, 2013 Cincy Region event at Mid- Ohio Sports Car Course. The Race Committee has held its first meeting and is actively working on the event Supps and entry forms. There will be the need for a lot of person-power help to pull off this event, so if you have specific skills or time, or one of the Race Committee members asks, please offer your assistance for the event. This event is one of the main sources of income for the region that allows us to be a functioning club. We did receive some very good news from the SCCA BOD in the form of the 2013 Sanction and Insurance Rates. Sanctioning fees for the double-regional race went up, but they stayed the same for the PDX and Club Trial. Insurance rates have gone down across the board for all events, including Solo. It is estimated that the sanctioning and insurance costs for the race weekend will be down about $1500 as compared to last year. Timing of the input of this report is such that the January Race Committee meeting will have already been held by the time the Cinchronizer gets published. But the next Race Committee meeting is scheduled for February 4th. Contact Jerry Cabe at 513-671-3839 or jcabe@belcan.com for the location and time. All who wish to contribute are welcome. It s Car Show Time! Once again it will be car show season very soon and the Cincy SCCA needs your help. The Cavalcade of Customs will be the first show on January 11th-13th 2013 at the Duke Energy Center. We will have a booth at the show and as always Cincy Members get in for free. If you would like to help at the show please contact Brian Walker at briax7@yahoo.com so a ticket can be reserved for you. If you have any Sports Car Magazines that you don't need anymore bring them with you please. The next show will be the Enquirer Media & Cars.com Cincinnati Auto Expo on February 21st- 24th, 2013 also at the Duke Energy Center. We would also like help for this show. These shows help bring in new members to our club and are a great way to get the word out about the SCCA so please make an effort to support the club by volunteering to help at the booth this year. Thanks, Brian

Board Meeting - September 25, 2012 The meeting was called to order by Bill Niemeyer Jr. at 6:50. Board members attending were: David Santel, Shari McCoy, E.B. Lunken, Christy Graham, Bill Niemeyer, Jr., Brian Walker, Nathan Roberts, Joe O'Gorman. On the motion of Brian Walker, with Nathan Roberts seconding, the August, 2012, meeting minutes were approved. Motion passed. Treasurer's Report Christy Graham presented the treasurer's report. On the motion of David Santel, with Shari McCoy seconding, the treasurer's report was approved. Motion passed. Old Business Banquet venues are still being considered. Sharonville has not offered a quote. Dave & Buster's has a competitive offering. Shari has a contact who caters; we would need a location arrange bar sales or BYOB. We will try to locate a suitable venue and make a decision in the coming week. Preliminary date being considered is January 19th. We need a nominating committee. We have three board members at large (Walker, McCoy, Roberts) and RE (Santel) as open positions. Jerry Cabe will take over from Todd Cholmondeley as Race Chair. Race/PDX Report Nothing to report. Solo Report Shari McCoy presented the Solo report. The final event of the year at Wilmington drew 128 competitors. We are still investigating trailer and contents insurance. We need a way to tow our existing trailer to events or come up with a suitable substitute. Several members will research options. Membership Nothing to report. Car Shows We have recently done the Scion Exposed show and FTIK events. New Business On the motion of Bryan Schafer, with Nathan Roberts seconding, the meeting was adjourned at 8:16. Next Meeting Agenda Topics Brainstorm ideas to boost meeting attendance. Truck for Solo. Nominations.

Board Meeting - October 16, 2012 Minutes of the October, 2012 Meeting of the Cincinnati Region SCCA BoD The meeting was called to order by Bill Niemeyer Jr. at 6:48. Board members attending were: David Santel, Shari McCoy, Bill Niemeyer, Jr., Brian Walker, Nathan Roberts, Joe O'Gorman, Pattison Lunken, E.B. Lunken, Christy Graham. On the motion of Joe O'Gorman, with Pattison Lunken seconding, the September, 2012, meeting minutes were approved. Motion passed. Treasurer's Report Christy Graham presented the treasurer's report in absentia. Joe O'Gorman suggested trying to move money to the MM account to take advantage of a higher interest rate. On the motion of Bryan Schafer, with Brian Walker seconding, the treasurer's report was approved. Motion passed. Old Business The board discussed nominations for open board positions. The banquet will be held January 19th, 6:00 at Dave & Busters. $30 for singles; $50 for couples; $15 children under 12. Several board members will pursue door prizes. Solo equipment transportation: A box truck seems like a potential money pit, as does any truck that will sit idle much of the time. Rental trucks that tow are not generally available but the board still feels that a rental option would be best if we can locate something. David Santel moved that the Solo Chairs come up with a transportation plan to recommend to the board by next meeting. Joe O'Gorman seconded the motion. Motion passed. Race/PDX Report Jerry Cabe presented the Race/PDX report. Tentative dates for the PDX/IT*Spectacular are July 26-28, 2013. 2013 Race Committee meetings are tentatively scheduled for the first Monday of each month, beginning on December 3. David Santel moved to allow up to a $175 total reimbursement for two members to attend the November 3 Roundtable in Worthington, OH. Nathan Roberts seconded the motion. Motion passed. Bryan Schafer motioned for the Cincinnati Region to offer to host the 2013 GLD Roundtable. Joe O'Gorman seconded the motion. Motion passed. Solo Report Nathan Roberts presented the Solo report. There has been no Solo activity since the last meeting. David Santel will be meeting with Wilmington representatives on Thursday (with Howard Duncan) to discuss an expanded schedule for 2013 at Wilmington airport. Membership Nothing to report. Car Shows We plan to attend the Auto Expo and Cavalcade of Customs. New Business Nathan Roberts suggested that the club should organize more pre- or post-meeting activities such as annual tech in order to boost meeting attendance. The general sentiment of the board is that there is little value in our general meetings. The board discussed the possibility of moving to quarterly general membership meetings at special locations while continuing to have our monthly board meeting with an open invitation to general members. Pattison Lunken suggested surveying the membership for ideas to boost attendance. On the motion of David Santel, with Joe O'Gorman seconding, the meeting was adjourned at 8:21. Bryan Schafer will arrange to publish approved meeting minutes in the CinChronizer.

Between the Cones Solo Report By: Shari McCoy and Nathan Roberts As we enter a new year we tend to look forward to what will be but let s not forget what has been. I ve had a chance to look over all of the people who have won trophies this year and it made me think about what a great year we had. A large part of what made this year so amazing were all the great races that took place. I can speak from experience that a lot of strong feelings and even deeper emotions go on in these parking lots we race in. I for one would question if Sebastian Vettel ever wanted victory as much as Tavis Spencer when he was white knuckling his car around every cone trying to will every last ounce of grip out of his car to put himself ahead of Robert Drake in the points race. For that matter, did Michael Shoemaker ever feel as good standing on the podium of an F1 race as Patrick Witte when he took FTD after a diligent season of dialing his car in until it functioned as an extension of his body? What about Chris Donovan who in his first year took a season championship through no small amount of dedication, hard work and lots of trial and error. All of these are just a small sample of what goes on and I m sure most of us have some pretty amazing stories to tell. So the next time you've got a chance go find your favorite autocrosser and ask them how there season went. I m sure you'll hear a pretty good story.
