Hi All, DIRECTORS REPORT Welcome to a new year of HOG Darwin. Firstly, let me thank all those that served on the 2017/18 committee. It was a pleasure to be involved with you all, and thank you for your commitment during the year. It was a great year for us, with a good number of club events that were all well attended including club attendance at our monthly meetings. Most importantly, the Townsville Rally with 29 club members attending what an awesome time and ride had by all. Onto the New Year, firstly congratulations to all the new committee members, I look forward to working & riding with you all during the next 12 months. I hope we can all have a productive and safe year as a club. Regards, Gibbo Darwin Chapter Director Hi Everyone, ASSISTANT DIRECTORS REPORT It was a great ride after the AGM through Mitchell Street and onto the One Mile Brewery at Winnellie a place we should support after a meeting maybe? Then, onto the Noony for a refreshing ale and to see Bill on his way home to Mandorah. Finally concluding the night with dinner at the Coolalinga Meat House. Stay safe on the roads, Willow

Cheers, YT ACTIVITIES OFFICER REPORT Hi All, The calendar is a work in progress at this stage. Upcoming events will be the fancy dress overnight ride (Sand Palms) just have to confirm dates and theme. I m planning mid-week and the odd Saturday rides for those that work Sundays. Current Bike(s): 2015 Softail Standard When did you first join the Club: Start of 2015 when I moved to Darwin and bought my bike When did you first start riding: I grew up on a dairy farm, so started riding when I could reach the ground. Remember parking my brothers YZ125 next to a fence post so I could kick it over and then take off. Cornering and stopping was a bit of a challenge Bikes you have ridden before your current bike: 1st bike was really a Yamaha Ag 100, and I remember getting dragged by a mate who had a CT110 Very embarrassing. Then I survived the three wheeler death machines in my early teens. My first purchase was a PE250, I wasn t allowed to buy a two stroke scramble bike, so told my old man it wasn t one because it had a headlight.. My first roadbike was a Kawasaki ZX10 Ninja, while I was still on restrictions. I played footy with the local copper who loved it and asked me if I had my full license course I have. Next footy training session Willow you haven t got your license have you? Oops parked it for a while. Next was an FJ1100, great cruiser, then back to dirt with a DR400 and moved to a KTM530. Sold that just before moving to Darwin and bought the Harley. Bike you would like to own: Other than my Harley, a Honda Africa Twin Best Ride you have been on: Townsville 2017 What is your idea of a perfect ride: Anything like the ride up the Gillies from Gordonvale to Atherton in North Queensland. Would also like to do adventure rides in the Himalayas / India. Most memorable ride moment in club or ride: Cagey carrying on like a scared little schoolboy when we got pulled over for speeding just outside Las Vegas. Yes officer, sorry officer, I guess the copper did have a gun and asked us to get off the veeheeical. Maybe the copper was also a little edgy as I overtook him on double white lines while speeding (didn t notice it was a cop car ) Favourite Music: Probably Aussie rock like Angels, Cold Chisel, ACDC. Have you anything else you would like to add to your profile? I m looking forward to filling the role of Assistant Director and helping the club to move forward with enjoyable rides and social events. Also helping to make sure the club is functioning in alignment with the principals of HOG.

HOT 2018 There will be a HOT in WA it will be coordinated with NT and Qld TASMANIA STATE RALLY Friday February 1 st Sunday February 3 rd 2019 Port Sorrell NSW STATE RALLY Saturday September 14 th Monday September 16 th 2019 Byron Bay

RIDE RULES Arrive with a full tank of fuel and an empty bladder. Fuel stops will be made as required along the way. Staggered Riding Formation 1. Have appropriate riding gear for expected conditions. 2. The nominated Ride Captain leads the group. DO NOT OVERTAKE him or her. 3. A motor cycle requires a FULL LANE to operate safely. We ride in STAGGERED FORMATION and NOT SIDE BY SIDE. STAGGERED FORMATION: One second rule: The bike to the left or right of you should not be less than one second ahead of you. Two second rule: Maintain two seconds between you and the bike in front of you. Four second rule: Your eyes should be watching a few bikes ahead of you, not fixed on the bike in front of you. 4. We only use one lane of a multi lane highway. That is the lane the Road Captain is using. 5. Maintain a constant speed, this helps prevent the Rubber Band effect. Always adhere to the speed limits. 6. A rider will be nominated to ride at the rear of the group. It is his or her responsibility to ensure that the riders DO NOT GET LOST and to render assistance if necessary. 7. The group as a whole MUST NOT stop for an individual as it can be dangerous to have the whole group stop on the side of the road. The nominated Tail End rider will stop and render assistance. 8. When we do stop as a group, be sure to park well off the road. 9. ALWAYS signal your intention to change lanes. Keep a safe distance behind the rider in front, CHECK YOUR MIRRORS often and concentrate on your riding. 10. If every rider can see the rider behind him or her in the mirrors, the group should not get split up. Adjust your speed to do so. 11. We ride as a GROUP to and from our destination until we split up to go home. KEEP THE GROUP TOGETHER, TRY NOT TO LAG BEHIND. Rides will be listed as HOG or NON-HOG. On a HOG ride, only HARLEYS may be ridden but friends or visitors may meet us at the destination. On a NON-HOG ride, members friends or visitors may ride NON-HARLEYS but at the rear of the group. In both cases any friends or visitors will be the responsibility of the member who invited them. 12. Riders in doubt about ANY aspect of the ride should ask the Road Captain or appointed Road Marshall for assistance. 13. Although it is a group, ride safety is a personal responsibility 14. Novices or riders new to the group should ride towards the back until they are comfortable 15. If it isn t safe to pass, go through an intersection or turn: DON T. 16. In spite of what the group does, pass as if you were riding alone (within formation). 17. Stay within the bounds of your skill level. Don`t be influenced by the bike ahead of you diving into curves. Group riding is neither a race nor a competition. 18. If you don't feel comfortable riding in a group, ride on your own. Changing Lanes
