Secretary: Sharon Proulx Corr. Secretary: Kim Fortuna Editor: Mary Jackson A Message From the President Hello everyone and Happy New Year! I hope all of you had a very happy holiday season! As we return from the holiday break, the PTSA is already busy. Currently we are shopping around for a Spring Fundraiser. We are still selling Market Day every month. You can place an order online or send your order to school. Market Day has a lot of delicious products, so please consider making a purchase. Our Star Search committee will be busy very soon working on Star Search. I hope to see a lot of students participating in the show this year. Thank you to those of you who made a donation to the Johns Hopkins Bayview Pediatric Burn Unit. We raised about $1,600.00 during the Holiday Concert Series. We will be doing another donation drive during the Spring Concerts. This year we will be selling discounted tickets to Hershey Park. The tickets are usually about half the cost that you would spend at the gate. Please look for flyers to come home in the next few weeks. This is not a fundraiser, but a service the PTSA will provide to our students and their families. The Animal Shelter Donations Drive was also successful. We collected cat foods, dog foods, treats and many toys for our homeless friends. If you would like to continue donating, please contact me, and we can make the necessary arrangements for me to get the donation from you. A special thank you goes out to Mrs. Messier s and Mrs. Pipino s classes. The students helped with morning announcements asking for donations and they helped to sort the donations. Our PTSA website has been recently updated. Please periodically check our website for any new information that needs to be passed along. Please also consider signing up for our Eblast. All you have to do is go to our website, type in your email address where it is prompted and you would have all the latest information sent to you as it becomes available from the PTSA to you. Please mark your calendar for Wednesday, February 16th - Spirit Night at Buffalo Wild Wings at White Marsh Mall. There will be a flyer with additional information sent home within the next few weeks. Until next month, stay warm! Sincerely, Cyndi F. Drye Perry Hall Middle School

2010 / 2011 PANTHER BEAT FEBRUARY PAGE 5 STAR SEARCH AUDITION REGISTRATION INFORMATION Registration for auditions for Star Search 2011 is currently underway!!! All students were given an informational flyer about Star Search at the end of January. Students who would like to audition need to have a parent/ guardian sign them up online at the PHMS PTSA website (www.phmsptsa.org). Auditions will be held on Tuesday March 1, 2011 from 6:30-9:30 p.m. in the Meeting Room. Students are assigned a halfhour time slot during that three hour period you will not need to stay the entire time. Audition time preference is considered on a firstcome basis, and only 40 acts will be able to audition, so don t delay! Once we have 40 acts signed up, registration will be closed. 1. If you are going to sing, make sure you have a KARAOKE or INSTRUMENTAL version for your song. Students will not be allowed to sing along with a track on which the lead artist is singing, and students who try to sing without music usually do not score well on their audition. 2. All members of a duet or group act must register separately in order for the act to be given an audition time. 3. Check your family s schedule to be sure that you will be able to attend the Dress Rehearsal on Tuesday April 26 and the show on Friday April 29 (both in the evening) if you are selected for the cast. Please don t sign up to audition if you won t be available those 2 dates. Here are some additional suggestions for those students who are planning to audition: 4.
