Well, it has certainly been a crazy week for weather - difficult to believe the call is for temperatures in the 60's next week! We began our week by thanking you - our parents - for all that you do for the school. No Catholic school can be successful without the support and assistance of every family - we are in this together! Additionally on Monday morning, Deacon LaDuca led us in a prayer service celebrating the rich tradition of Catholic schools and reminding us all that our primary mission, both young and "old", is to teach the Faith! On our crazy Tuesday, the students completed our service project that was started with our small change drive, "Pennies for Parties". Every class decorated a box with a birthday theme along with a large "Happy Birthday" banner. The boxes were stuffed with banners and all of the materials needed put together a home birthday party. The students had a wonderful time with their buddy class! All of the birthday boxes will make their way to House of Mercy to be distributed to those families who might otherwise not be able to provide a party for a child. Of course on Wednesday we had the day off - I am thinking maybe this was a true celebration for the students! Today we celebrated our students with a movie and popcorn for the afternoon. The teachers entertained the students with a flash mob dance to "Joy". Check it out on the school's Facebook page - search for HSSFlames or Holy Spirit Catholic School. Tomorrow, Friday, we will thank the clergy and the other ministry leaders of our parish who provide us with amazing support throughout the year. A tremendous "THANK YOU" to Mrs. Evans and Ms. Gregas for spearheading our week of celebration! If you have not returned your registration form for next year - now is the time! The registration fee increases to $150 per student after Friday, February

1st. We are looking for science fair judges for the February 19 Holy Spirit Science Fair. If you have a sibling you would like to have join us next year - now is the time to turn in that application. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Laclede - llaclede@holyspiritflames.org. Applications for new students will be accepted beginning next week and we will begin filling available slots. Thank you! -Maureen Ashby Principal World's Finest Chocolate Fundraiser Thank you to those families who have been participating in this important PTO fundraiser. We have a few more days to go to the official close of the selling. Please remember that all students in the school benefit from the money raised through this and all PTO fundraisers. Questions? Concerns? Please email Le'Neeka Manning (leneeka.manning@uscp.gov ) & Emily Sprissler (chefemily192@yahoo.com ). Each family is asked to sell a minimum of 2 boxes of chocolates Seeking Ambassadors to the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math to introduce and encourage Holy Spirit's future scientists.

Catered lunch will be provided. Arrive at 11:30 and wrap things up by 2:45pm. Please contact Mr. Mike Thieman (mthieman@holyspiritflames.org) for more details.

RESCHEDULED! Note there is no PTO meeting on this date only the presentation

Students are encouraged to participate! Questions? Contact Mrs. Liss iliss@holyspiritflames.org

Intelligent Lives Intelligent Lives Trailer Bishop O'Connell High School is hosting a FREE viewing of Dan Habib's new film, INTELLIGENT LIVES on Wednesday, Feb. 20 at 7pm. This film is a catalyst to transform the label of intellectual disability from a life sentence of isolation into a life of possibility for the most systematically segregated people in America. INTELLIGENT LIVES challenges what it means to be intelligent, and points to a future in which people of all abilities can fully participate in higher education, meaningful employment, and intimate relationships.the 70-minute film will be shown in the Bishop O'Connell auditorium, and will be followed by a panel discussion. The event is open to the public.
