Lakewood is the Class A Affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies. The Shorebirds took three of four games from Lakewood in their only scheduled trip to New Jersey last weekend, with the only loss coming on a walk-off home run. Since opening the season with a 4-6 mark and losing two of the first three series on the campaign, the Shorebirds have a series record of 7-2-1 over their last 10 sets, going 22-13 over that stretch. Delmarva is two games out of first place in the Northern Division with 24 games left in the first half. Lakewood beat Hagerstown yesterday to salvage the series, but they have lost to the Division-leading Suns in 10 of 11 contests this season. TODAY S OPPONENT: Right-hander Harold Arauz gets the ball from Shawn Williams in the series opener. Arauz just pitched against Delmarva last Friday night, going six strong innings with seven strikeouts and just one unearned run against him. This is his 61st professional game and his 42nd career start. He was acquired by Philadelphia in a trade with Houston in December, 2015. LAST GAME QUICK HITS: The Shorebirds smacked a season-high three home runs, including two from Alex Murphy, but lost the series to Greensboro by falling 11-4 yesterday afternoon. Delmarva surrendered five runs in the bottom of the second frame and played from behind all game. They pulled within three runs in the fifth, but a pick-off ended the inning with Yermin Mercedes representing the tying run at the plate. Cristian Alvarado (2-4) took the loss after giving up six runs on five hits. Patrick Baker also allowed a season-high four runs in 1.2 innings. PLAYER TO WATCH WHO S HOT/WHO ELSE ALEX MURPHY C Alex Murphy has been the most consistent offensive weapon for Ryan Minor s club this season. He s rotated between catcher, first base and DH, but has been in the lineup on a nightly basis. Murphy is hitting.277 with five homers and has reached base safely in 22 consecutive games. WHO S HOT RYAN MEISINGER Ryan Meisinger finds his name among the premier relievers in the South Atlantic League this season. He leads all league relief pitchers with 14.77 K/9IP (which would also lead starting pitchers) and he has the second lowest WHIP in the circuit (0.94). WHO ELSE GARRETT CLEAVINGER Cleavinger was the Orioles Minor League Pitcher of the Month in April and has been even better in May. The lefty is now 5-0 with a 1.80 ERA in 11 games this season.

This will be Love s 21st professional appearance on the mound and his 14th career start. After being drafted by Baltimore out of East Carolina University last June, Love pitched once in the GCL and spent the rest of the summer in Aberdeen. He went 3-4 with a 4.81 ERA in 2015 between his two stops. Love has pitched twice in 2016, working as a tandem with Ofelky Peralta. Love was thrust into the starting rotation after Lucas Long and Cory Jones were promoted to the Frederick Keys last week. Love helped lead the ECU Pirates as a 2-way standout player and First Team All-American Athletic Conference performer to their first ever conference championship. ARSENAL: 2-Seam Fastball, 4-Seam Fastball, Slurve, Circle-change LAST TIME OUT: Love continued to be a nice option for Ryan Minor and Blaine Beatty. Love dipped and dodged around the BlueClaws bats as he scattered just one run on six hits last Saturday in New Jersey. The only inning in which he ran into any trouble was the fifth. He was taken out of the game with two outs in the sixth after allowing his first walk of the night to put two runners on with two outs in a tie game. 2016 SINGLE GAME STATS PRO CAREER GAME HIGHS Low Runs: 0, 4/11 vs. KAN Innings: 6.0, 4x (3x in 16) High Runs: 4, 4/29 vs. CSC Runs: 7, vs. LOW (9/2/15) Low Hit: 1, 4/11 vs. KAN Hits: 8, two times High Hits: 7, 4/29 vs. CSC Walks: 3, 4/29/16 vs. CSC Innings: 6.0, 5/5 vs. LEX Strikeouts: 8, vs. WV (5/16/16) Most Walks: 3, 4/29 vs. CSC Pitches: 95-60 vs. WV (5/16/16) Strikeouts: 8, 5/16 vs. WV Hit Batters: 1, 2x ( 15, 4/17/16) 2016 MISCELLANEOUS NUMBERS W L ERA GS IP ER Home 1 2 5.28 2 15.1 9 Road 1 1 2.73 4 26.1 8 Day 1 1 3.52 2 15.1 6 Night 1 2 3.76 4 26.1 11 AVG AB H HR BB SO vs. Left:.311 45 14 1 2 13 vs. Right:.204 108 22 2 10 29 TOTALS:.235 153 36 3 12 42 2016 INNING-BY-INNING Inning ERA IP H R ER HR BB SO AVG GIDP 1 3.00 6.0 4 2 2 0 2 2.222 1 2 6.00 6.0 7 4 4 2 1 7.292 0 3 0.00 6.1 6 0 0 0 2 6.250 0 4 0.00 7.0 2 0 0 0 0 8.087 0 5 3.86 7.0 5 3 3 1 3 9.200 0 6 4.05 6.2 6 3 3 0 3 9.231 0 7 27.00 1.0 5 4 3 0 1 0.714 0 8 0.00 1.0 0 0 0 0 0 1.000 0 9+ 27.00 0.2 1 2 2 0 0 0.333 0 2016 MONTH-BY-MONTH Month Record ERA IP H R ER HR BB SO AVG April 2-1 3.50 18.0 15 7 7 1 6 16.227 May 0-2 3.80 23.2 21 11 10 2 6 26.241 CAREER STATISTICS Season Team W-L ERA IP H R ER HR BB SO 2015 GCL Orioles 0-0 0.00 2.0 1 0 0 0 0 1 2015 Aberdeen 3-4 5.06 37.1 42 24 21 4 9 34 2016 Delmarva 2-3 3.67 41.2 36 18 17 3 12 42 TOTALS 5-7 4.22 81.0 79 42 38 7 21 77 SATURDAY S STARTER: Ofelky Peralta is slated to make his ninth start of the season tomorrow night. Game #47 Delmarva Shorebirds vs. Lakewood BlueClaws (Phillies) Arthur W. Perdue Stadium MANAGER RYAN MINOR Minor, 42, returns for his eighth season on the Shorebirds coaching staff, and his sixth as the team s manager. In 2015, he led the Shorebirds to 71 wins, the most victories for the franchise since 2009. This is Minor s second stint in Salisbury, having previously managed the Shorebirds for three seasons (2010-12) and spent two seasons (2008-09) as the hitting coach for the Shorebirds. In between, he managed the Frederick Keys (Advanced-A) in 2013. During his tenure as manager of the Shorebirds, the team compiled 302 wins, the most of any Delmarva manager. Minor aided the development of current Orioles, Manny Machado and Jonathan Schoop, who played for the Shorebirds in 2011. Minor, a longtime resident of Salisbury with his wife Allyson and two children Reagan and Finley, enjoyed a four-year run in the major leagues from 1998 through 2001. He spent his first three years with the Orioles and his final season with the Montreal Expos. Minor s playing career is best remembered for replacing Cal Ripken, Jr. at third base on September 20, 1998 when the consecutive games streak of 2,632 came to a close. The Orioles drafted Minor in the 33rd round of the 1996 First Year Player Draft out of the University of Oklahoma. In 1997, he played for Shorebirds and was an SAL All-Star third baseman. He batted.307 with 24 home runs and 97 RBIs. Minor still owns the franchise single season records for doubles (42). Minor also owns a decorated college basketball career. He is seventh all-time in scoring at Oklahoma with 1,946 points. He was selected in the second round (32nd overall) of the 1996 NBA draft by the Philadelphia 76ers. Of the 35 errors the Birds have committed, seven came in the first two games of the year and 18 have come in the last 20 contests. In the other 24 games, Delmarva has tallied just nine errors and 23 total errorless games. Catcher Yermin Mercedes is the league leaders defensively at his position.
