GREATER DAYTON CORVETTE CLUB (GDCC) Minutes May 16 2018 President Freddie Haugh called the meeting to order. Forty-five members were in attendance. GUESTS: Glenn Cary owner of a Beige 1976 Corvette that is currently not running. ANNOUNCEMENTS: Freddie: Thanked Eric Mundy and Bev Reck for hosting the dinner out on April 21 to Buffalo Jacks in Covington. The food and service was great. Thanked Terri and Larry Kopa for helping to pass out our Cruise-in flyer at Buds. Ken Huff said he has his 2019 Z06 Sebring Orange Corvette. He also bought a car lift from the Museum. Bob Chelle said that he and Karen are owners of 2019 Grand Sport Long Beach Red coupe. VICE PRESIDENT: Bob Haugh called for the following committee reports: SECRETARY S REPORT: Carl Durbin motioned dispensing with the reading of the April minutes. Seconded by Dean Tavener. TREASURER S REPORT: Herbie Smith provided the report. SOCIAL: Freddie recapped the following in Donna Tucker s absence: May 19: Dinner out (7:00 p.m.) at Ann and Tony s, West Jefferson OH hosted by Ken and Linda Huff. Bob Haugh will lead caravan from the Enon Park. Plans are to meet at 5:45 p.m. and depart at 6:00 p.m. June 2: Thirty-first Annual Cruise into Summer Car Show, Brookville OH. Registration is $10.00 per car. Gates open at 3:00 p.m. Car show from 4:00 p.m. 9:00 p.m. June 8: Voss Open Car Show, Centerville OH, from 5:00 p.m. 9:00 p.m. June 21-23: Trip to Lexington KY hosted by Donna Tucker and Dan Gorby to visit distilleries and horse farms. Donna needs the money tonight for the distillery tour. June 22-24: Boris Tirpack racing at Mid-Ohio. June 23: Somernites Corvette weekend, Somerset KY. June TBD: Dinner out hosted by Dean and Carol Tavener.
July 4: Americana Parade, Centerville OH. Freddie has 15 cars that will participate. Let her know tonight if you would like to participate. July 13: Voss Open Car Show, Centerville OH, from 5:00 p.m. 9:00 p.m. July 14-15: Boris racing at Mid-Ohio. July 21: Dinner out (6:30 p.m.) at Chop House, Centerville OH. Hosted by Mike and Vicky Stewart. August 3: Boris racing at Mid-Ohio. August 11: Ft. Thomas open car show to benefit Wood Hudson Cancer Research Laboratory. There is a $20.00 entry fee. August 26: Enon Police Department 5 th annual car show. The car show will be held from 4:00 8:00 p.m. at Settlers Park. There is a $10 per car entry free. MEMBERSHIP: Carol Tavener reported that we currently have 135 members. PUBLIC RELATIONS: Bob Sledge said that he is advertising our Cruise-in in local media, calendars, and our Facebook page. He is also updating the pictorial directory. EDITOR/ WEBMASTER: Mike Jones stated that he has been busy putting out various Club correspondences. Freddie said this shows how active and involved our Club is in events. NATIONAL CORVETTE MUSEUM (NCM) AMBASSADOR: Tom Brooks talked about the activities such as the paddle boat ride and banquet that he and Star participated in at the NCM Bash. He said he also has raffle tickets for a 2019 Red Convertible. Tickets are $10.00 each. President s Corner: Old Business Freddie:
Has flyers for members to pass out for our upcoming Corvette only show on July 8. Use these to give to businesses when asking for donations. Judy Smith provided the following in regards to our Corvette only show: Need quality items for door prizes. Chinese auction items should be around $50.00. Carol Tavener said that monetary donations will be accepted for door prizes and the Chinese auction. Fred Farnsley s place of work has donated a gift certificate for a set of four Goodyear Tires. These tires can be used for any type of vehicle. New Business Freddie was asked by the President of the Brookville Corvette Club about our clubs joining in each other s activities. She agreed. She has completed applications for the Centerville Fourth of July Parade and the Kettering Holiday at Home Parade. Larry Kopa talked about Trooper Island and their program run by the Kentucky State Police that some Club members visited at the NCM Bash. The program is for 11-12 year old children. Some of them because of their experience at Trooper Island go on to become police officers. Larry also mentioned Mid-American Funfest in Effingham IL that will be held September 20-23. Various activities happen that weekend that include entertainment, the opportunity to purchase exhaust systems and tires. George Frymyer conducted the 50/50 drawing which was won by Karen Franz.
