The Tallwood Tradition November 2013 http://www.tallwoodmensclub.com 2013 Board of Directors President Ron Krupa thekrupe@yahoo.com Vice President Greg Garcia gnjr_98@yahoo.com Treasurer Kim Aderman kim.aderman@comcast.net Secretary Dave O Brien overrideuc@yahoo.com Handicap Jim Bidwell dsbjab@sbcglobal.net Membership Joe Krist joekrist@aol.com Co-Social Greg Berger greg.berger@clorox.com Co-Social Scott Marshall scottmarshall@snet.net Tournament Ken Comerford kjc5949@hotmail.com Communications Kevin Savage kevin.savage@cox.net The President s Corner With my term wrapping up, I want to take this opportunity to once again thank my Board and give them all the credit for the successful year TMC had. We kept our membership level up when many other clubs were losing players, gaining many new members and I had the pleasure of playing with quite a few of them throughout the season. Tournaments went smoothly, we tried a few new scheduling adjustments to get more play and we'll continue looking at these types of changes and improvements. Social events were as good as ever, from Kickoff to Awards, Hams and Turkeys, Guests and Ribs, Children and "Scotches", we had some fantastic gettogethers. Everyone stayed on budget, we learned a thing or two about handicaps, we tried a new special event with Caddie Day, and we made sure everyone was kept up to date with Tallwood blasts and updates on the website. I heard from members during the year, many saying what a good job the board is doing, so I want to pass those kudos on and make everyone aware that it's the Board and their hard-working committees that make this club work the way it does. Make a difference and join a committee or better yet, take on a Board position when I look to recruit next year. See you at the 19th hole... Ron - The Krupe Past President Mike Peterson michael.peterson@snet.net

The Tallwood Tradition 2 November 2013 Tournament The last two GOTY events of the year were completed in October. In the Tournament of Champions, on the net side Bob Wahlberg shot 78 for a net 67 to take the trophy, while the gross prize went to Brett Franklin, with a fine round of 72. It should be noted that Rob Davidson also shot 72, but managed to lose matching cards for the 4th time in a GOTY event in the last three years, thus setting some kind of record for lousy luck! But it had to be some consolation for Rob when he and partner Dave Rutz bested Randy Thornton and Eric Womack in the final of the Governor's Cup. So Rob won a trophy after all - and the Sox won the Series, so he can't be too unhappy, can he? Here's wishing you all a great holiday season! Ken Comerford, Tournament Chairman Social It s hard to believe the 2013 golf season has come to an end already, thanks to everyone on the Social Committee - your hard work and your participation contributed to a fun and successful year. Looking ahead to next year, please save the date for next season s kickoff dinner Friday, Feb. 28, 2014 to be held at The Gallery in Glastonbury. Details will be published in our Jan. / Feb. editions of the newsletter. Greg Berger and Scott Marshall, Co-Social Chairmen
