It was an enjoyable 6 years from Fleet Captain through Commodore of the best Yacht Club in the country. We are the best due to 100% of our members, your great dedication to PSYC by attending our meetings, events, cruises and volunteering where needed. I am proud to belong to PSYC and you are the GREATEST! Be sure to make the last General Meeting of the year (1 week earlier December 14, 2011) as we are going to have a catered meal and a chance to recognize our members for your contributions during the last year at our annual Awards Banquet. We have a great Bridge for 2012 lead by: Commodore Peggy Allen, Vice Commodore David Morton and Rear Commodore Mike Thompson. A great group of Flag Officers: Fleet Captain Joyce Carlson, Secretary Nancy Morton and Treasurer Robert Murphy. An excellent group of returning board members: Tim Dies, Lisa Haistings, Rich Tremaglio and Jerry Zitkovitch. Page 2 December 2011 Vice Commodore s Report - Peggy Allen Thanksgiving is now behind us and Christmas will be here before we know it. Each year goes faster than the last. It seems like I just completed my first Vice Commodore Report and here it is my last. This year has been great thanks to everyone who dedicated their time and energy to PSYC. Bill Dils has done a great job of leading the club. Bill has kept us on course through a year of excitement and challenges. Our fleet has cruised from Tacoma to Pt Townsend and points in between. Fleet Captain, Mad Dog and the dedicated cruise captains and crews have given their all to make each cruise a success. The hosts of social events provided a great variety of activities. We ate lobster, became wine aficionados, were treated by Barry and Marcia Ellingson, and John and Vicky Orr to a beach party, and cruised on a ship. Our Rear Commodore, David Morton, introduced Dock Friday which will certainly become a regular event. Thanks to everyone who volunteered for the work parties at the club. Facilities Chair, Mad Dog, has kept on top of maintaining the club. A special thanks to those folks who dedicate their time to keeping up our docks at Hat Island. The monthly dinners allow members to build relationships and promote the spirit of belonging. Those who volunteer on the dinner crews make this possible. Thanks to Linda Eagan and our wonderful cooks and crew who devoted their time to provide great meals at each meeting. Our membership has grown thanks to Judy Quick and Trina Smith. They both put so much effort into this with great Rear Commodore s Report - David Morton The holiday season is now upon us and soon my tenure as Rear Commodore will be at an end. Before we turn that page, I d like to take a brief look back at a very busy 2011 social year for the Club. This year I think we had a great mix of PSYC traditions and new activities. The year was off to a great start with the Boat Show Brunch, the Wine Social, the New Member Open House, the Lobster Feed and a fun St. Paddy s celebration. Then in keeping with our boating heritage, we took GAFIA on the High Seas with a coastal cruise from San Diego to Vancouver BC. It was then time to celebrate the official start of boating season with three full days of opening day fun. Not one to stop the celebration, we then kicked off what I hope will be a new tradition with Dock Fridays. This new monthly event (summers only so far) attracted nearly 50 people out of the gate and continued to be a fun time throughout the summer. Nancy and I spent our very first 4th of July at the club this year and we had a wonderful 4 days rafted up to Pat Hansen. It was then off to Mission Beach where the Orrs and Ellingsons hosted a great family beach BBQ. While summer weather didn t really arrive until September, we had a great time at the End of Summer Party (aka Duck Friday). Thanks again to Ride the Ducks for supplying two Ducks dedicated to our party. It was then off to the Tri-Cities for some great vino and food on the Wine Tour. As the year comes to a close, we have recently honored Bill Dils at the Commodore s Ball. We also honored the champions at an altogether different kind of ball, Whirlyball. This year s tournament was a hard fought individual challenge. Lance Loomis took results. Thanks to Paula Spina for her expertise and devotion in providing consultation through challenging issues. Her no nonsense style and ability to maintain focus on what s best for the club have been invaluable. Pat Hansen serves as Dock Master, Rental Chair, and keeper of the club calendar. She keeps a finger on the pulse of PSYC and deserves all of our thanks for her devotion to the club. Thanks to Nancy Morton as secretary and for her contributions in addition to her duties. Sharon Moore has done an awesome job as Treasurer. Thanks to all of the 2011 Trustees for their leadership, insight and support. I am looking forward to another great year. Happy Holidays! home first place, followed by Nancy Morton and Mike Thompson for second and third respectively. Finally, we have the Christmas cookie exchange on December 11. Check with Nancy Morton or elsewhere in this issue for more information. Thank You As you can see this was an action packed year and there is no way we could have done it without a lot of help. This month s Awards Dinner will specifically thank those who work so hard to make this club the great place it is. I also would like to offer my heart felt THANK YOU to everyone who helped throughout the year. This includes those who will be officially recognized and everyone who lent a more casual hand.
