The Feed Bag June 2017 Volume 39, Issue 6 A Diablo Valley Mustang Association Publication 2017 DVMA CAR SHOW After 9 months of planning, calling, scrounging, cajoling and finger-crossing (mainly by Jim Blair, Car Show Planner Extraordinaire) our yearly car show was a tremendous success. Changing the venue to the parking lot of the Cobra Experience in Martinez turned out to be a great choice and almost all the participants were happy with the abundance of shade and the nice eating area up top. As yet we don t know the amount that will be donated to our charity, Bay Area Crisis Nursery, but it should be a generous amount. Many, many thanks to our financial supporters, Tom Cruze at Delta Bay Mustangs who donated ALL the trophies, Rob Brandt at Bill Brandt Ford in Brentwood who gave a very generous seed money check, and to the Cobra Experience who coordinated with us for a well thought out, smoothly-run show. Then, of course, there are our tireless club members who got up at the crack of dawn getting things set up (especially Dave Wallace, our trusty work horse) and, once again, to Jim Blair who, honestly, did the majority of the work prior to show day. It truly was a great day. Thank you everyone!! Page 1 Feed Bag Car shows run on donuts and coffee!! June 2017, Volume 39, Issue 6

Beautiful cars and great to see the variety of vehicles on display. Even the works in progress were unbelievable. There were many raffle prizes to be won, and lots of vendors. The show was well organized and Golden Hills members showed their cars as Display Only and were not eligible for awards. This is an annual show that is first class, so plan on attending next year. NEXT DVMA MEETING WILL BE JUNE 14, 2017 The meeting was adjourned at 8:02 pm by Harry Davis, President WATER POLO GIRLS UPDATE. In March 2016, Harry announced that he is coaching a water polo team at Pittsburg High School. Those players are now in the swim program as well as the fledgling water polo team at Pittsburg HS in 2016. Harry detailed plans for the 2017 water polo program, including balls, goals, shot clock and scoreboard. DVMA members made fantastic donations totaling $260 to the upcoming 2017 water polo team. In July 2016, Leeza Davis and Alyssa Beltran spoke to DVMA members about their water polo dreams and the team they were putting together for 2017. DVMA members quickly donated an additional $130. As details were coming together at Pittsburg HS for the water polo 2017 team, the newly appointed Athletic Director made some new requirements. The end result was that the new Athletic Director cancelled the water polo program at Pittsburg High School. On April 21, 2017, the members of the first 2016 team gathered together to celebrate the year of 2016. Some graduating members were unable to attend, having enlisted in the Navy and Army, gone to school back East, and moved forward with their dreams. You can see photos of the team that were able to enjoy pizza, family, and some Pittsburg Pirates water polo jackets celebrating the 2016 team they enjoyed, with the help of all DVMA member donated monies.
