State President s Report Thomas Jack Shirey Membership Chairman s Report Mike Delio August, 2015 Hello Brothers and Sisters: On August 8, 2015 Mike and I attended the District Directors training held at Clarion Aerie #3807. I would like to thank instructors Bob Wahls and Eric Barnes and all of the District Directors that attended the training class. All Aerie Officers should attend this class, it would eliminate so many troubled Aeries. Jan, Mike, Becky and I left for District #1 on August 22, 2015. We arrived at Greenville Aerie #805 and were met by President Tom Marks, Secretary Dick Edward, Conductor Charlie Courteau and bartender Sierra Blair. Tom and Dick showed us their Historical building next door where they hold their meetings. What a beautiful meeting room. We had some snacks there and then we headed for Grove City Aerie #1895. We were met by President Melisa Coovey, Trustees Marge, Rick, Scott, Conductor Jen and bartender Ron. They presented me with a check for my charity. We had a light lunch and then we headed for Franklin Aerie #328. We were met by President Bryan Barthen, Vice-President Don, Trustee Rich, Secretary Marge and bartender Jody. We had another light lunch and headed to Oil City Aerie #283. They were having their Golf Tournament and not many members were present. Since Oil City has a stag bar Jan and Becky took a walk in the nearby park. Mike and I had a couple of drinks and talked with bartender Don Mohnker. We left for Meadville Aerie #429 which was our last stop for the day. We were met by Trustee Gary Baker and Past President Jack Adams. They were playing Texas Hold-Em so we decided to join the tournament. I won the tournament. Yeah! After the tournament was over we went back to our rooms for a much needed rest. The next morning we had breakfast and headed for Wattsburg Aerie #4516 and met President Rob, Trustees Kevin, Jim, Secretary Glenn and bartender Jackie. They were busy doing their weekly Trustee report. Glenn told us they have bought the building next door and are going to tear it down and make a parking lot and an access for the general public to launch boats. This Aerie has come a long way in the past two years. Next stop was Warren Aerie #313 and we met bar manager Willie and bartender Gary. We visited with the members and then started home. We decided to go by way of Kinzua Dam and a ride down 322 to Kane Aerie #307. There we met bartender Kay and visited with members Dick, John, Rick, Laurie and Ken. To Mike s and my surprise of the eight Aeries we visited nobody knew that when you sign up a new or reenrolled member you have a chance to win a new car. Secretaries you all should have received a poster on the Grand Worthy Presidents Awards. Please post them on your bulletin board. Thank you to District #1 Director Gary Baker for scheduling our tour.

On August 28 Jan and I headed to Carlisle for their annual Charity Run sponsored by the Carlisle #1299 Eagle Riders. We went to the Aerie to have dinner and Jan played bingo and won. The next morning we headed out to the Carlisle Eagles Picnic Grounds. Don Moffitt showed me around the grounds and horseshoe pits. We had 46 registered for the ride. There were 42 riders and 2 cars. Shirley Moffitt rode with us and helped us navigate. We stopped at the North Mountain Inn, the Laurel Run Lodge, the Hot Point Inn, The Three Pines Inn, and then back to the picnic grounds. It was a beautiful day for a ride. We traveled about 80 miles and went through 2 State Parks and 1 State Forest. Jan won 3 rd place in the poker run and a gift certificate for the Laurel Run Lodge. The American Legion riders had 2 riders with us and they made a donation to my charity. Also PA State Aerie Chaplain Clint Slima presented a check for my charity from New Brighton Eagles. We had dinner there and were on our way home. I won t know how much they raised until November 7. I would like to thank Jake and Tana Cassell, Mary Ann Yohn, Bev Fraker, Elaine Regi and Sylvia Clepper. Jake organized the ride and the ladies helped with the lunch and registration. Events I plan on attending this year are: September 11-12 Auxiliary Fall Conference Blairsville October 1-5 Vacation October 23-25 Eastern Regional Conference Somerset, NJ November 7 PWP Banquet Carlisle November 13-14 Keystone Conference Clarion November 21-22 District # 11 Meeting Kutztown December 14-15 Bethlehem Invitation Bethlehem Remember; Ask not what your Aerie can do for you, but what you can do for your Aerie. Fraternally, Jack Shirey Mike DeLio PA State Aerie President 2015-2016 PA State Aerie Membership Chairman 2015-2016
