BULLETIN #1 Shortline Lakes 11-15 September, 2012 www.corypickos.com Cory & Rose Pickos and the Pickos Ski Club are pleased to invite you to the 2012 Pan American Championships. The 2000 Pan American Championships were held at Shortline Lakes and we are looking forward to hosting another successful Pan American event. The tournament will be held at world famous Shortline Lakes in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida near the Emerald Coast with its magnificent white sugar sand beaches. We hope you plan to visit for a few days before and after the tournament. The area is a vacation paradise with lots of things to do beyond the best water skiing in the world. LOCAL CONTACTS: Rose Pickos 850-259-2182 info@corypickos.com Jim Jaquess 770-235-3584 jjaquess@bellsouth.net Karen Jaquess 404-403-8542 jaquessk@bellsouth.net

Lake Alexis (Lake 2), Slalom Event SITE Located just several miles east of Destin in Santa Rosa Beach, Shortline Lakes is a water ski paradise. The lakes were designed to optimize ski performances in all three events, including gently sloping white sugar sand shorelines that make backwash nearly impossible. Cory Pickos has operated his ski school on this site for the past two decades. A water ski legend with 24 World Records, 10 US Masters titles, and a couple of World Championships to his credit, Cory and his staff of talented coaches have taken competition skiing to the next level. Many of the Pickos Ski Resort students have gone on to claim World titles in all three events. Numerous Pan American athletes have trained at Shortline Lakes, including students from Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Mexico, Peru, Trinidad, and the USA. The site has been host to 15 World Records in all three events, including Overall. This is more world records than any other site on the planet. The site has hosted many past USA Team Trials, Jr US Opens, US Opens, Southern Regionals, AWSA Nationals and the 2000 Pan American Championships. The lakes were custom built and are as close to perfection as you can get for all three events. Located one half mile from the Gulf of Mexico and world renown white sugar sand beaches (some say they are the best beaches in the World). The lakes are World Record capable with the latest technical equipment installed. Resort area with many activities, including deep sea fishing, snorkeling, dolphin watching, golf, etc. www.beachesofsouthwalton.com and www.30a.com. Sandestin, Baytowne Wharf and Destin Harbor Walk offer many nearby restaurants and night clubs. Red Bar and Louis Louis restaurants nearby (owned/operated by famous Belgian Executive Chef Olie Petit) along with many beachfront restaurants. 2

Slalom is scheduled to be held on Lake Alexis (Middle Lake- Lake 2) while Trick and Jump will be held on Lake Adam (South Lake- Lake 1). The jump was professionally designed and constructed with a frame of steel and a fiberglass surface. There have been many personal bests off this ramp, including the current USA Elite Women National Jump record. Elite Men have gone in excess of 235 at Shortline Lakes. This is the site of the first person to jump 220 (Sammy Duvall World Record 1993). ENTRY FEE The entry fee is $220 per athlete. The entry fee includes lunch each day of competition, one ticket for the athlete reception and one ticket for the awards banquet. The Entry Fee must be paid by the deadline date of June 30, 2012.
