THE PACE STUDIO: RECITAL INFORMATION PACKET

Transcription:

Congratulations on being cast in the fourth annual production of NWACCB s. We are excited to present this holiday classic to our dancers, their families, and the community of Northwest Arkansas. The artistic staff will be investing many hours in the studio for rehearsal. The success however, of a full scale production such as this, is only possible through the full cooperation of the cast and the support of our parent volunteers. Please take time to review this information packet. The basic requirements for performers are outlined, as well as important information about volunteering. The enclosed contract must be completed and handed in by the first day of rehearsal. Thank you all for your involvement! ~Emalie Coen Artistic Director

Performance Fees Performance fees are used to offset the costs of rehearsal staffing, costume production and maintenance, theater rental, ticket and program production, prop production and maintenance, as well as many other costs associated with a show this size. The 2016 Nutcracker performance fee is $100 per dancer for the first role in which she/he is cast, and $25 for any additional role(s) per dancer. The initial performance fee of $100 is due at audition and will be held until parts are casted and accepted. Fees for additional roles will be collected at the dancer s first rehearsal. Please understand that performance fees are non-refundable once parts have been accepted. Fees are not charged to participants playing adult roles in the performance. Casting Casting is at the discretion of the Artistic Director. Please understand there may be casting changes due to injuries, costume concerns, or any other unforeseen issue. Parent Guild -- Volunteers Each family is required to provide one parent volunteer to work at one dress rehearsal and one performance, and/or to volunteer for a task on one of our prep committees. If you are unable to provide volunteer help toward the production, you may pay an opt-out fee of $100 to offset the expense of hiring production assistants. Volunteer assignments and sign up opportunities are organized through SignUp.com. You will receive communication from The Guild when those positions are posted. All production related inquiries should go through the Parent Guild Chair, Thalia Madewell. She can be reached at TheGuild@nwaballet.com or (479) 530-2967, voice or text.

Hair and Costumes Costumes will be provided for the performance. Dancers may not take costumes home. Dancers should be careful to keep their costumes clean and free of damage while they are using it for the performance. There is absolutely no eating or drinking any liquids, other than water, in costume. Below are the basic attire requirements for all roles. These are items that will not be provided by NWACCB. Please note, all dancers are required to purchase and wear a thin strapped, nude colored leotard underneath their costume. Rehearsal Attire Requirements is a classical ballet, so we require dancers to attend rehearsal in classical attire. This includes leotards, tights and ballet slippers for the girls. Dance skirts will be allowed, unless otherwise noted by your rehearsal director. Boys should wear athletic or dancewear, and ballet slippers. Performance Attire* Girls: Pink Capezio #9 tights, pink ballet slippers. Dancers should have two pairs of tights, free of stains, holes or runs, ready for each performance. Hair is to be in a classical ballet bun, unless otherwise noted by the Artistic Director. Boys: black ballet slippers, hair should be trimmed and well kept. Some roles may require white tights to be worn under their costume. Those requirements will be sent out at a later date. *Additional role specific hair and costume requirements will be provided.

Make-up The bright stage lights have a way of making performers look pale, or washed out. All dancers will be asked to have stage makeup applied for dress rehearsals and performances. Basic requirements will be as follows: Face: A base coat of liquid foundation, with powder over the top to avoid a shine. Blush on cheekbones in red or pink, depending on skin tone. Eyes: Light brown, neutral shade over the lid, with a darker brown in the crease. Eyeliner and mascara. Dancers in Snow, and Act II variations (with the exception of Mother Gingers) will be required to wear false eyelashes. Lips: Lipstick is necessary. A red that matches the dancer s skin tone works best on stage. No glitter should be worn by any dancer. A more detailed makeup requirement list for specific roles will be sent out at a later date. Rehearsals Rehearsal attendance is imperative. Dancers are required to arrive 5-10 minutes prior to your rehearsal time to prepare to rehearse. Dancers should be stretched and ready to start at their rehearsal time. Please see the attached tentative rehearsal schedule, and note that we will have a mandatory in-studio scene rehearsal Sunday, November 27 th following the Thanksgiving holiday.

We will realize that this may pose a challenge for traveling families; however, being that our performances are the first weekend of December, the weekend directly following Thanksgiving, it is essential to have the cast stage ready at that date. Attendance Policy: Excessive absence and missing more than two rehearsals may cause your dancer to forfeit her/his role. Dancers will not be excused from the November 27 th in-studio scene rehearsal. If a dancer is to miss a rehearsal they must contact their rehearsal director. It is the responsibility of the dancer to obtain any missed choreography on their own time, and be fully prepared with the material when they return. Performance Week and Dress Rehearsal Dress rehearsals and performances will be held at Arend Arts Center, 1901 SE J Street, Bentonville, Arkansas. REHEARSAL ATTENDANCE IS ABSOLUTELY MANDATORY.
