MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL Dear Parents, Guardians, Alumni, and Friends, During this holy Lenten season, we take time to reflect on our Lenten devotions and the mercy of God. We spend the time thanking Christ for His sacrifice and mercy, following the Lenten promises of prayer, sacrifice, and almsgiving. Our entire school community attended mass yesterday on Ash Wednesday. Our teachers are guiding their students as they determine how to best observe this time of preparation. Some students will make small sacrifices while others will try to do something special. Please discuss with your child(ren) what their Lenten promise is during these 40 days. Increased prayer is always encouraged. Our students will participate in Stations of the Cross at 2PM on Fridays throughout Lent. It is a blessing that we can express our faith and live Lent fully in Catholic school. Please feel free to join us for Stations and/or our weekly school Masses.
2 Shamrock Newsletter Father David has created a Lenten journey Mass card and Holy Week card. Students who attend Mass 4 of the 6 Sundays in Lent can earn a free dress pass. Students who attend the additional services throughout Holy Week can also earn a free dress pass. It is with regret that I inform you that Mrs. Seeterlin our music teacher will be leaving. Her last day is March 20th. There will not be after school choir after that date. I will be actively searching for a music/choir teacher for the 2019-20 school year. It is our hope that the choir students will still sing during Wednesday morning masses. I will let students know as soon as I have more information. Reminder that the deadline for the Bishop s Aquinas Scholarship application is March 15th! To apply for the Aquinas Fund Scholarship for the upcoming school year, the applicant-family must complete the online application (www.factstuitionaid.com) which will calculate financial need. The diocese will not accept any late applicants. Wishing a blessed Lenten Season, Mrs. Olivia Brazil, Principal SCHOOL NEWS The 2018-2019 St. Apollinaris Academic Decathlon Team had a solid performance against 21 other schools from the Diocese of Sacramento on 3/2/19 in Sacramento.
