North Bristol Sportsman s Club 4 NBSC Sun Prairie High School Trap Team Recently competed at the SCTP State Shoot at the WATA home grounds. We fielded 19 Athletes, and they put in a good performance, finishing as a team in the top half of the field and 2 of our shooters shot 25 straight. We are losing a couple Seniors this year, but hopefully they can still come out and shoot and guide the newer shooters. Best of luck in the new adventures to : Hannah Mathison, Andrew Brehmer, Danny Haack and Josh Skindzelewski. It was a pleasure to get to know and work with these athletes, and by knowing them and the parents and support they have, they will do well in the future. Can t wait to see what they get to do next.

North Bristol Sportsman s Club 10 Pistol - Rifle Range News Interested in becoming a Range Safety Officer? We have an ongoing need for RSOs on the rifle range and, soon, the pistol range. NRA certification requires a one day class and, for NBSC, an RSO specific range orientation. If you re interested, contact Dan Kittel at (608) 219-8711, dankittel8711@gmail.com for more information, or Kevyn Quamme at kevyn@advbldgcorp.com We are planning to open the pistol range more often, with RSO oversight, from April to November. Watch for the dates. This will provide access for a fee to non-members. Rimfire Challenge Rimfire Challenge is getting readily for their new season. If you re tired of poking holes in paper, come on out and shoot steel plates and hear them ring. We ll be shooting on Wednesday evenings, starting as soon as the course is setup. The second Saturday of each summer month and our final the North Bristol Rimfire Registered Shoot on Sunday, September 11th. Check out the Newsletter schedules for details on shooting dates. Some Saturdays could be moved or cancelled because of conflicts with Rimfire Challenge Registered shoots held by other clubs. From what I have observed at other shoots, NBSC has the best group of traveling shooters supporting other clubs. 22 ammo is becoming more available, might still need to look around but it s there, never to return to the old prices we would like to see. Smithy s in Deerfield has had a good supply of 22 s at good prices. Check them out.

North Bristol Sportsman s Club 12 Monthly Drawing Members News Looking for help? Maybe we can be of assistance Volunteers are the key to every event and activity that takes place at the club. Their contributions come in all forms, from maintenance and repairs to cooking and serving as RSOs. To recognize the importance of volunteer time, the club will begin a monthly drawing on the night of the July meeting. The names of two volunteers, who s put in at least 4 hours of time in the previous month, will be randomly drawn to win prizes. This is just a small way of saying thanks for everything you do. The Board Volunteer Recognition Drawing JULY 2016 The first drawing for volunteer recognition prizes was held. The prizes are: (1) a Gerber branch saw with sheath, a pair of game shears with sheath and a Winchester commemorative knife set; (2) four NBSC folding knives with sheaths and club polo shirt; (3) a 12 volt Q-Beam 400,000 candle power spotlight, a Whitetails Unlimited LED flashlight and 2 free fish dinners. The winners were Kay Seitzner, Shane Dynes and Steve Statz. The prizes must be collected at the clubhouse, with first and second choices going to the first and second to arrive. Periodically Members contact our Membership Director (Tom Seasor) seeking names of Members that could assist in teaching: Trap, Skeet, Hand Gun, Archery. There may or may not be a financial charge. North Bristol Sportsman s Club 13 R3 R a n d o m R a n g e R a n t s Finally, its hot and muggy summer outside. Thunderstorms and unpredictable rain and sweating while you stand still. Perfect weather. Doesn t stop the shooters though. The club pulled off to great weekend shoots. The ATA Buckle shoot went really well, and the weather more than cooperated. Congrats to the shooters and to Gelane and Carl for pulling it off again. High School Shooters competed at Rome again this year. We had 19 shooters, and they did well. We had a couple shooters that shot 25 straight, and we placed above average in as JV and Varsity teams. We got to shoot early and beat some of the heat. The shooters shot well, and were very focused, prepared and well organized. The coaches and myself couldn t have been more proud. Thanks to parents, grandparents, friends and siblings who came and supported the teams. I stopped out for Trap League in Monday and Wed. the last few weeks. As many of you know the team numbers are down. Sure would like to figure out what we can do to get them shooting again. I was surprised at the Club House energy too. Or lack of it. Really missed the interaction between teams and shooters and the fun carefree energy that usually occurs after the shooters complete their misses! I hung out with some of the old reliable shooters, can t learn anything more from them. The crowd was down. I know with the Holiday week some teams skipped the week, so I really hope I just stopped on a bad day. Let s see if we can get a crowd to hang out and have some fun on league nights. Even if you don t shoot, come out and support the club and catch up with some shooting buddies. I hope to get back out next week to do my part. I hate to admit that the Skeeters take the fun party award again. They shoot Thursday nights. They remember how to hang out. Too bad they can t shoot trap. It would be nice if they were a little more likeable, and maybe laughed a little more. (Just kidding) Only problem with them is it s hard to leave when you should. Five stand is being worked on, and should be available during open shooting real soon. We are getting more non-member interest in shooting. So make them feel welcome and show them around. Share what you know, as full as your brain is, you can t be using it all so let someone else use some of that useless information that you no longer need. Help out where you can. Tom S has the rimfire challenge going on so support or help if you can. Check for other events coming up, and if you have any ideas for events, fund-raiser or something to do, let the board know. Meetings are the first Tuesday of the month. We have a few shotguns collected for rentals, and need a couple more. We will be rolling out that program about the time we get 5 stand rolling. If you have a trap or skeet type firearm in good shape to loan out, let us store it for you!! Maybe raise a few bucks for the club, but more importantly, get some new shooters interested in the sport. Plan to attend a Fish Fry or shooting event soon. Hang out during the open shooting times, sign up for an event or a league or help out at a work day or whenever you can. Bring along some stories or a joke or two.. COME OUT AND SHOOT!!! Or just hang out. Bring out Friends and Family too. We ll be watching for you at the club. Shoot Straight, Be Safe and Have Fun!!!!
