February 5, 2019 Meeting: Club President Dan Bremer opened the February meeting at Austin s Cattle Company at 6:45 pm. The opening prayer was led by Paul Worth. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by David Boyd. There were 34 members in attendance. As part of his opening remarks Dan read a letter from the Sheriff s Youth Home thanking us for our $1,500 gift. Minutes: the January minutes were read by club Secretary Bob Raffaele and were approved by those present. Treasurer s Report: in the absence of club Treasurer Donna Roberson the report was given by Bob Raffaele and was approved by those present. Old Business: participation at our recent Bruster s and DQ cruise-ins was well attended. Additionally, fifteen club members attended Hot Rod s wedding and were warmly welcomed. The Membership Directory will be going to the printers on March 1 st. Membership dues are now due. New Business: In his update on the Fall Car Show, George Hardy noted Logan negotiated a contract with Premium Productions for a reduced rate of $500 rather than $700 originally specified. The location is still a work in progress. With the mall wanting to charge a rental fee, Logan has been in contact with both Lowe s and Walmart for parking lot space. George has been working on sponsorship as well as a vendor row area for the event. Minutes The subject of both club and event t-shirts was discussed. As a starting point Tiffany Baker got a quote for 300 shirts with a 7-color design at $7 each that could retail for $15. A discussion followed on the quantity, price and design with no conclusion reached at this time. Kyle Baker has the club s trailer at home and he s in the process of sorting and cleaning it thoroughly. A motion was made, seconded and passed authorizing an expenditure of up to $50 for any supplies he needs. Annette Woodruff reported she s in the process or calling members who have not been active in club events. While still on the subject of membership, a motion was made, seconded and passed authoring the printing of membership invitation cards. These would be given to prospective new members offering them $ off their membership dues. (continued to the right >) President s Report Dan Bremer So far 2019 has been a good year for the SGCCC. The Hot Rod Wedding at the Yacht Club was a blast. The cruise-in venues all drew many cars and our Monthly Meetings at Austin s have been well attended. Our club has many different ways to have fun for every member. It is up to the individual member to decide if they want to be at every event or to be at no events. We have room for everyone to exercise their choice. March to December 2019 will have opportunities for each member to enjoy their club. Thanks goes out to all those members who are helping the club with planning and directing. Every organization needs all kinds of members and the SGCCC has a lot of people who want to help us. When a member needs help, many other members are there to provide it. Makes us proud to be involved. Sorry I can t be at the March meeting but the club is in excellent hands with our long time Vice President David Boyd. Until next time! Thanks. Daylight Savings Time begins on Sunday, March 10. March Madness the NCAA basketball tournament goes on much of this month. After all the rain we had during December and January, it is nice to be drying out with some warmer weather and a good dose of sunshine. We had a very good February club meeting, with a lot of discussion about the activities of the car club. We need to continue to support our administration as we move our club ahead in this new year. It is good to see several members stepping up to take responsibility for different espects of the club. Sandi Foster has done a great job in getting our web site up to date. Be sure to provide pictures of your cars for inclusion on the site. Premium Productions running our Fall Classic Car & Truck Show, so we can use our efforts in other ways to support the show. The Hot Rod wedding was a lot of fun, and we have a couple of pictures of the happy couple on page 2. Thanks to Richard Lassiter for the car care tips from yesteryear, and the child safety aadvertisements Looking forward to seeing you at the club meeting on March 5 and at some of the cruise-ins.
