Kent Michael 316-682-4403 ACCC s Web Page..... http://members.cox.net/accc Message from the Prez... June has been a very busy month if you are into car shows, man there are a lot of cool cars around. I wasn t all that impressed with the Lake Afton show this year but those of us that participated had a great time. The Father s Day show at the Zoo wasn t as big as in the past but, the cars that were there were vary impressive. Tarry Pollard deserves a lot of kudos for having his Corvette looking exceptional and for a great display. The June meeting was possibly the largest meeting I ve seen, it was standing room only. We had some guests to talk to us about an upcoming car show and a lift for your garage that is back in business. If you would like information about the lift please contact me or see me at the meeting. The Drive-and-Eat this month left from the truck stop and headed north lead by our hosts Monte and Chris Rans to a town in Kansas that I have never heard of, Tampa. It was a sleepy little town with not much of a road leading to it, so needless to say we crept along at about 15 or 20 MPH for several miles to get there. On the way home a group of four Corvettes (lead by Mr. M) were running south on K-15 at a high rate of speed and that prompted someone to call the Harvey Co. sheriff. Well they were waiting at I-135 and K-15 where some of our innocent club members were pulled over and harassed for what they were driving. A big thank you goes out to Monte and Chris for hosting this great event. Don t forget the meeting this month is our annual Ice Cream social, and it will be at the shelter house in Sim Park at 7:00 PM. See you there, Kevin. Page 1

July, 2006 Volume 39 - Issue 7 Minutes from the June 7, 2006 ACCC Meeting The meeting was called to order by President Kevin Mansfield at Don Hattan Chevrolet. A large turn-out of 44 members attended. We even had to scramble for additional seating. Kevin first welcomed back old new members Dick and Joyce Preisser (glad to have you back) and new members Dennis and Virginia Boepple who have a silver C6 convertible and Curtis and Wendy Crossman who drive a white C5 coupe. He also welcomed Randy Paxson as a new associate member who is searching for a Corvette. Clayton Baughman who drives a 75 Corvette was visiting. Last month s minutes were approved. Don Crigler motioned and Mary Mehl seconded that E-Board choose a location for the Ice Cream Social. That location will be announced. Kevin reminded everyone that a few rooms are still available for Eureka Springs. Kevin briefly mentioned again that everyone should be thinking of officers for next year as both he and Gary Henderson will not be able to run for re-election. Both President and Treasurer positions will be vacant. We then entertained a motion that $300.00 be set aside for awards and door prizes for the Awards Banquet. Dick Volkmann so motioned and Mary Mehl seconded. It passed. Dallas Keller from The South Winds Corvette Club submitted a special offer from All-American Lifts to the club. Anyone interested in buying a lift should contact him for details. If you want to check out the lifts, the WEB address for All-American Lifts is: http://www.allamericanlifts.com. We moved on to officer reports. Vice-President Greg Esping reported we now have 55 members in the club. Saturday, July 8th Drive & Eat Meet at the Truck Stop on the South West side of the 61st Street North and I-135 Exit. Hosted By: Doug & Mary Mehl Group Leaves Promptly at 5:30 PM Treasurer Gary Henderson reported $1280.90 in savings and $687.12 in checking. He must pay post office $5.00 and is working on a tax exempt status for the club. Secretary Marsha Battaglear passed around a sign-up sheet for the Stone Lion Murder Mystery Bed and Breakfast in Guthrie, Oklahoma. Both the month of September and November are open. She requested that anyone interested in the trip should state a preference for a date. A date will then be selected and reserved. More information will be forthcoming. Officer-at-Large Lin Smith continues to request donations for door prizes. She reported points positions as Kevin Mansfield 1st, Candy Corbin 2nd, and Battaglears 3rd. Governor Monte Rans stated his disappointment in the participation of the Autocross. Mostly only ACCC members attended with one exception of a couple from Illinois. He had no report on money earned. He reminded everyone about Afton and The Great Race. Newsletter editor Kent Michael gave more information on The Great Race to be held Friday June 30th. Members are requested to arrive at Century II before 5:00P.M. See Kent for specific information. Old Business Kevin asked for information about the Lone Star Corvette Classic. The Battaglears, Corbins and Espings attended. The Corbins won an award for best car in their class. Although Rex and Candy were pros on the racetrack, Greg and Bob were a bit tentative with white knuckle grips and all. Everyone finally relaxed and enjoyed the 120+ speeds on the track. Doug Mehl reported on the Ponca City show. Both Terry Pollard and the Battaglears won awards for their classes. FYI from the May newsletter: C= Crigler and R = Ravenscraft. New Business The Drive and Eat will be hosted by Monte and Chris Rans on Saturday June 10th. We will meet at the truck stop on I-135. You must bring cash. The next order of business was the up-coming car shows. All Wheels Day at Lake Afton is June 11th. The club will meet at 10:00 at Frontier Antique Mall on West Kellogg to caravan out. Cruising in the Jungle is on Fathers Day at Sedgwick Co. Zoo. Plan to arrive early and park together as a club. The 50-50 pot was won once again by Marie Esping who got $16.00. Candy Corbin won the door prize. The meeting was adjourned. Secretary Marsha Battaglear Page 2

Volume 39 - Issue 7 July, 2006 Minutes from the June 24, 2006 ACCC E-Board Meeting The meeting this month was graciously hosted by Greg and Marie Esping. Board members and their spouses were treated to Greg s gourmet grilling. (yummy) Because it was Linn Smith s birthday, we also got to sample one of Marie s tasty and lovely cakes. (she is a talented decorator) (There are perks to being on the board) We also enjoyed the lovely Harper, KS evening as we conducted business. Thanks so much for their hospitality. President - Kevin Mansfield called the meeting to order. Our next Drive and Eat will be hosted by Doug and Mary Mehl. Meeting place, time and whereabouts was unknown as of this date. The Ice Cream Social will be July 5th at Sims Park. Kent will put a map in the newsletter. Louise suggested that maybe we could have a cook-out next year with the desserts. Most everyone agreed that was a good idea. Vice President - Greg Esping reported we have 54 paid members. Treasurer - Gary Henderson reported $829.57 in checking and $1280.90 in savings. Secretary Marsha stated that no one had signed up for paper goods, pop or ice for the Ice Cream Social. Kent will check on getting the paper goods and remind everyone in the newsletter to bring their own drinks. Marsha also reported that 9 couples had signed up for the Guthrie, OK trip. She will make reservations for Sat. Nov. 11, 2006 for ten couples. Additional information will be made available later. Officer-at-Large - Lin Smith verified attendance at several events. She stated she had decided on the awards and asked the Board to approve the cost which we did. The remaining money can be spent on door prizes. NCCC Governor - Monte Rans told of the Corvettes on the Square car show, on Independence Square, sponsored by the Kansas City club on Aug. 11 & 12, 2006. Several Board members were interested in attending. We will check on motel accommodations and entry forms and notify all club members. There is no new Autocross information. Monte will contact Rick Smiley for information on this past Autocross and the late summer Autocross. He will again check on timing lights and discuss final approval at the July meeting. Randy will check on getting the airport for the Funkhana. We also need to plan for awards. The tentative date was set for Sept. 10, 2006. Newsletter - Kent Michael reminded everyone that next year is the 40th anniversary of Air Capital Corvette Club. He proposed that we should plan a special celebration and invite back as many former members as we can locate. Everyone agreed that having a club for that long and maintaining several original members was indeed something to celebrate. Although there was much discussion and many great ideas.nothing was decided. We all agreed that it will take a lot of work but will be worth it. Old Business None that had not already been discussed New Business. None that had not already been discussed The meeting was adjourned. Secretary Marsha Battaglear Page 5
