Unit 1: Football Week 1 Week 4 02/11-03/08 Day 1: Football Passing and Catching Day 2: Football Passing and Catching Lesson Objectives: Students practice sending and receiving the football in partners -Students learn how to grip the football and the proper way to throw a spiral Fitness Components: Flag Pulling Sprints Lesson focus: Passing and catching with partners -Students begin playing ultimate with the flags Example Activities: Variations of Flag tag - Basic Passing and Catching - Modified Game Play (No running with ball) Day 3: Positioning and Passing Tree Lesson Objectives: Students review passing and catching and begin learning how to play flag football. Fitness Components: Shuttle Runs Lesson focus: Dribbling/Foot Skills Keep the ball close to your body Take a touch on the ball with every step Knees Bent Head Up On the balls of your feet Example Activities: 1 vs. 1 Dribbling/Dribbling Within a Grid/Knockout Day 3: Passing and Introduction to Game Play Day 2: Passing and Receiving Lesson Objectives: Students review how to pass and receive a soccer ball. Fitness Components: 3 minute Warm up Students will run around a designated area for 3 minutes. Lesson focus: Passing/Receiving Ankle locked Follow through Knee bent, head up & eye contact Pass in front of the player you are passing to Receive by giving in a little Use inside of the foot Example Activities: Pass Through Cones to Partner/ 3 Person Passing/Monkey in the middle Day 4: Positioning & Shooting Lesson Objectives: Students continue passing and receiving techniques and learn how to create space. Lesson focus: Passing and Receiving Example Activities: Partner shooting and rebounding -Passing and Catching the Tchoukball Day 3: Shooting & Catching Lesson Objectives: Students learn what can and cannot be done with the ball, as well as perform passes and catches within the rules of Tchoukball Fitness Components: Have the students partner up and jog around a set distance and have them pass the ball back and forth any way that they can Lesson focus: Frame Introduction and Rules -Shooting stationary and from a pass Example Activities: Shooting Stations Lesson Objectives: In groups, students answer a variety of questions concerning the lessons taught this semester. Fitness Components: n/a Lesson focus: Multiple Choice Questions on PE related material Example Activities: Stations with sport equipment to help students answer various PE-related questions Assessment(s): 10% of Final Score Day 2: Ultimate Tchoukball Lesson Objectives: Students practice and review passing concepts in a game situation Fitness Components: Students will run around a designated area for 4 minutes. Lesson focus: Passing and Receiving in an Ultimate game. Students work together passing the ball down the floor. (Tchoukball rules are implemented into the game.) Example Activities: Ultimate Tchoukball Day 4: Scoring & Positioning Lesson Objectives: Students learn how to play Tchoukball using basic rules and concepts. Students review basic skills in a game situation. Fitness Components: Running around the 2 nd Floor area Lesson focus: Manipulative skills of 4 square Introduction of the formal game of 4 square with modifications Example Activities: 4 square Manipulative game Day 3: Tchoukball Game Play Lesson Objectives: Students will play a competitive and fun round of games, with an emphasis on cooperation. Fitness Components: Balance Fitness Testing- The Stork balance test Lesson focus: Testing Shooting and Rebounding drills and Tchoukball Game Play Day 5: Optional Sports Lesson Objectives: Students choose sports to play that they learnt throughout the semester.
