It was originally owned by the Keil Family and was passed down to the younger generations. The farm ownership was taken over in 1998 by Sarel du Toit. Lauwater Wes is a registered game farm within a formal Conservancy (Dordabis), easily accessible and set in an excellent Savannah area. The game farm is 155km south east outside Windhoek and 145km from the Windhoek Airport. The size of the ranch is 7403 hectares. ACCOMODATION: We are fully aware of the high expectations of our guests and therefore guarantee an unforgettable hunting experience. The accommodation at Lauwater Wes is divided in three different options. Guests have the option of staying on the main grounds, in chalets or the bush camp. The camp is set in the bush, surrounded by the African beauty and sounds. The bush camp gives you the chance to experience nature in its purest form, ensuring that you have a unique African experience.

During evenings make sure you are wearing warm clothes as it can get very cold at night in the bush. Ensure that you have lightweight and comfortable clothes, walking boots, hat, sunscreen and water when out in the bush during the day.
TRAVEL: The farm is situated 145km from Hosea Kutako International Airport, airlines such as South African Airways and Air Namibia have daily flights to and from Windhoek. If needed, pick up at the airport can be arranged. The farm is accessible by road; there are also two airstrips available on the farm for small aircrafts. No visas are necessary but please ensure that your passport is valid for at least six months after your departure. HUNT AND GAME: Hunting season in Namibia is from May to August. Hunting methods used on the farm is limited to rifle hunting and bow hunting. Rifle Hunting: With the assistance of the guide, the animals are located with the use of the vehicles. The hunter then proceeds to shoot his choice of animal from the vehicle. Hunting on foot, or by horseback is also done and enhances your hunting experience. After the hunt, our team of skilled skinners will ensure that your trophies and skins are well prepared and taken care of. Bow Hunting: Bow hunters are accommodated by providing excellent hunting opportunities at our various watering holes, lookout points or on foot.

Skin: Normal skinning or cunning if arranged in advance. BASIC RULES AND SAFETY RECOMMENDATIONS: Weapons and Ammunition: 1. Licensing: Please ensure that all weapons are fully licensed A maximum of thirty rounds per weapon is allowed. 2. Calibre: Please ensure that the calibre of the weapon is relevant to the game hunted e.g. at least 0.30 calibre for game bigger than springbuck. 3. Skills: All hunters should have previous hunting experience with their particular weapons that they are going to use for the hunt.
4. Rules: No loaded weapon will be allowed on the vehicle Weapons are not allowed to stand loose on vehicle No person will be allowed to handle a weapon while under the influence of alcohol No hunting or shooting will be allowed without the guide or professional hunter present. Vehicles: No driving under the influence of alcohol Ensure that the driver of co-driver is accustomed to working with a radio Ensure that there is always a first aid kit in the vehicle No other vehicles other than the ranch s vehicles are to be used for hunting Guides should always be present when using the vehicles for hunting or game viewing DOCUMENTATION: The only documentation that is organized by the company is the invitational letter and standard hunting permit. All other permits and documentation is the hunter s responsibility. Permits for raw meat to RSA As with immediate effect, the exportation of animal products for own use from the officially recognised FMD free areas of Namibia has been changed. 1. The product should form part of the travellers personal luggage and intended for personal use. It may not be sold or disposed of in any way other than by own consumption/use. 2. Please note that up to 25kg of meat from the FMD free zone may be exported without any certification. This excludes pork and meat from wild pigs or warthogs. 3. Quantities of meat over 25kg now require an import permit. The limit for processed meats (polony etc) is 25kg. (>25kg 250kg per importer: South African veterinary import permit and veterinary health certificate from the exporting country is required.) Permit costs is R105.00.
4. Up to 10kg of biltong and droewors may be imported without a veterinary import permit. Larger quantities now require an import permit. 5. Animals and animal products that require a veterinary import permit (including large quantities for own use) may only be exported through Vioolsdrift, Nakop or in-transit through Botswana via Ramatlabama. Small quantities of products that do not require import documentation may be exported through any port if it is clearly part of personal luggage. 6. In order to qualify as person in terms of the guidelines, the person must be older than 12 years. We have first aid kits at the main house, bush camp and in every vehicle and can administer first aid. In the case of serious injury the guest will be airlifted to the nearest hospital in Windhoek. Please inform us of any illnesses, allergies or injuries beforehand.
