Water in warmer weather The warmer weather is, hopefully finally here to stay. With this in mind, it would be helpful if each child brought a named bottle of water to school each day. At the end of the day, the water bottle will be taken home. Water bottle containers are to:- be 500ml or less be preferably transparent ONLY contain water Royal Wedding Party On Friday 18 th May our Reception children will be celebrating the wedding of Prince Harry and Megan Markle. On that day, the children should wear smart/ formal wear; prince/princess outfits but no superhero outfits! Please remember the children will be in the playground for the party (weather permitting) and therefore need to have sensible shoes and warm clothes that are practical for school. Our Nursery children will be celebrating the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle by taking part in a garden party on Friday 18 th May. Children are welcome to wear red, white and blue to mark the occasion. We will be making some sandwiches and healthy snacks during the session that we will then share outside. Handwriting Compeition At the end of last term all children from Reception to Year 6 took part in a Handwriting Competition. The children had been studying Poetry in Literacy and had to copy one of the poems they had studied in their neatest handwriting. Year 5 Football Success Last Thursday the following Year 5 boys had an amazing opportunity to take part in a specially organised Year 5 football tournament at the Matchroom Stadium, on the ground of Leyton Orient FC: Kuba 5TB, Amir 5JP, Oliver 5IH, Abdul 5TB, Jaydon 5JP, Harry 5JP, Malokai 5ML and Daniel 5TB. This was a once in a lifetime opportunity for our boys and they did not let themselves down. The team played out of their skins and under the watchful eyes of football coach Mr Hercules and coach Dennis. The boys managed to win the tournament! Another sensational sporting success for the children of Chase Lane! Well done to all those who took part and our thanks for the hard work from our coaches Mr Hercules, Dennis and Aslam who give up their time to help out with the school's football team. KS1 Smoky Mountain Out of Bounds The Key Satge 1 Smoky Mountain is currently out of order. Please remind your children that they are not allowed to play on it. Bikes & Scooters For health & safety reasons it is essential that all children dismount their bikes and scooters before they enter the school gates. No bikes or scooters are allowed in the playground. I would like to advise, for security reasons, all bikes and scooters are padlocked in one of the bike/scooter bays which are located at the front of the school. Class Photos This is a reminder that class photographs will be taken on Monday 11 th June 2018. Please ensure your children are dressed in their smartest uniform on that day. Friends of Chase Lane All of the Friends of Chase Lane events are organised to help raise funds for the school, and give our children a better start in their early years of education. A really easy way to help us raise funds is to have an estate board advertising the school summer fair like the one on this page that we previously used for the Easter Fair. They look great and will only be in your drive or garden for approximately 2 weeks. The Friends of Chase Lane will receive 10 for every board that is erected. All we need is an email to the below address with your Name, Address & confirmation you are happy to display a board. friendsofchaselane@hotmail.co.uk Unfortunately we are limited to 50 boards per fair, so they will be issued on a first come first serve basis. Yours sincerely Carolyn Houstoun Head Teacher 5
