This week @CarltonGardens Parent/Carers Mornings - Continue Friday 3rd August The next Parents/Carers' Morning will take place next Friday, 3rd August. It will be a time that we can come together, enjoy a cup of tea or coffee after drop off and get to know other families in our community. Parents/Carers' will be welcome to head up to the PAC (above school car-park) from 8:55am. There will be a loose agenda each time and this is open to ideas from parents as we go: 1.Make a cup of tea/coffee and get to know each other. 2.Hear about some of the teaching and learning practices at Carlton Gardens PS. This second session will focus on how students develop a strong understanding of mathematical concepts and how you as the parent/carer can best support your child at home. 3.Help out with some book covering while we talk. The main aim of these Parents/Carers' Mornings is to provide a time and place for you to meet other families, get to know one another and learn a little something about the school. We look forward to seeing you on the 3rd if you can make it. Drop Offs & Pick Ups We would like to ask that all parents/ carers enter and exit the school through the side gates when dropping off and picking up their students. We are having difficulty getting our students outside due to the number of people inside the building. Free AFL tickets Carlton Football Club has generously donated a limited amount of tickets to an upcoming match against the Western Bulldogs on 19/8/18 at 1:10pm at Etihad Stadium. If you re interested in going please email Riley on minns.riley.r@edumail.vic.gov.au. All children attending need to be accompanied by a supervising adult. Schedule for Day Time 9:15 am Activity Grade 4-6 students travel by bus to Collingwood Athletics Track (From https://www.esafety.gov.au) Fortnite Battle Royale is a popular, free version of the original Fortnite game. It is a battle royale - style third person shooter game in which up to 100 players compete online through player vs player (PVP) combat to be the last person standing. In the game, players are dropped onto an island alone, or in a team of up to four players; players can choose the members of their team or be assigned random teammates. The object is to then explore the island, collecting weapons, building fortifications and engaging in combat with other players. Each game lasts approximately 20 minutes, with action intensifying as the eye of a deadly storm shrinks over the island, forcing players into an increasingly smaller playing area. 10:00 am Grade 4-6 students participate in rotation of track and field events at Collingwood Athletics Track. Prep students participate in activities at school Fortnite is not recommended for children under 12 years of age, as prescribed by PEGI, but you do not need to provide your age to be able to play online. 11:30 am 12:30 pm Grade 1 and 2 students participate in events at Carlton Gardens Grade 3 students participate in events at Carlton Gardens 1:00 pm Grade 4-6 return to school 1:30 pm Prep -6 lunch at school 2:30 pm 3:10 pm Presentations Whole school to walk to Carlton gardens for relay events It should be noted however, that these ratings do not take into account the actual content of the game.
