Premier Intermediate Hurling Championship Semi-Final Replay On sat evening last in Pairc Ui Rinn our Intermediate Hurlers renewed acquaintances with neighbours Courcey Rovers. The first half began with two points from Courceys before points from Eoin O Reilly and a free from Chris O Leary leveled the score on five minutes. A Rory O Sullivan strike gave Valleys the lead followed by a point from Jack Walsh. Courceys replied again to equalise. Another from Jack Walsh pushed Valleys in front and more points from Eoin O Reilly and two frees from Chris O Leary had them in the ascendancy. A final point from play from Chris O Leary had the Innishannon men leading 0.09 to 0.05 at the break. The second half began with three points from Courceys followed by two points from play from Chris O Leary before Courceys stormed into the game and although Chris O Leary pointed from a free again on 52 minutes, it was to be Valleys last score. The next four points were all Courceys giving them a two point victory 0.14 to 0.12. Included in this second half were two long range frees from their goalkeeper which really drove the nails in the Valleys coffin. Courceys now go forward to meet Charleville in the final next weekend while Valleys will ponder on what might have been. Final Score: Valley Rovers 0.12 Courcey Rovers 0.14. Team: Willie Burke, Eoghan Delaney, David Lynch, Tomas O Brien, Sean O Regan, William Hurley, Noel O Donovan, Jack Walsh, Cormac Desmond, Kevin Canty, Chris O Leary, Rory O Sullivan, Colm Butler, John Cottrell, Eoin O Reilly. Scorers: Chris O Leary (0.07(4f)), Jack Walsh (0.02), Eoin O Reilly (0.02) & Rory O Sullivan (0.01). Page 2 of 11

U8 Boys The U8 Boys and Mentors enjoyed an end of year outing at Inchydoney on Sun 14th last. The boys successfully tried their hand at Orienteering along the beach and dunes, and the Mentors tagged along for some exercise! We finished off the day with a game of ball on the beach, which was competitive to say the least, and wasn t helped by some dodgy refereeing decisions!! Great fun was had by all. Thanks to all the parents for supporting it. The boys can be seen on the feature cover page picture this week & below also; The Annual General Meeting of Valley Rovers Juvenile Club will be held on Friday Nov 16th @ 7:30pm in Knockavilla hall All members requested to attend Well done to the Valley rovers players who played with St Brogans U16 hurlers & defeated MICC Dunmanway last week on a scoreline of 4-19 to 4-9. Hard luck to Valley Rovers players Daire & Emer Kiely, Niamh Hurley, Carol Cremin and Jane Mulvihill who were on the West Cork Senior panel that played Mourneabbey in the Replay of the Senior Final in Cloughduv last Sunday. Emer & Daire both started the game at left & right wing back respectively & had a great game despite the result not going their way. Well done to all the girls involved. U16B Championship Valley Rovers U16 Camogie Team took on St Finbarrs in the replay of the U16 championship at a wet Brinny on Saturday last. St Finbarrs got off to the dream start scoring a fortuitous goal after 2 minutes and followed this quickly with an excellent point. This put it up to the Rovers girls but they responded magnificently taking the game to the favorites for the remainder of the half. Valleys found the net first through a great goal from Kate Lynch and on the stroke of half time Fiona Twohig pounced for a poacher s goal to leave the half time score Valley Rovers 2-05 to St Finbarrs 1-04. St Finbarrs up d their game in the second half with the breeze and were using their strong bench to their advantage but were finding it difficult to break down the Rovers resolute defence. With 12 minutes left the Rovers still lead by a goal when disaster struck for the girls when the conceded two quick goals. Try as they might Valley Rovers could not claw back this deficit and St Finbarrs tacked on a few points nearing the final whistle to run out winners on a score of Valley Rovers 2-5 Vs St Finbarr s 3-9. Minor Championship Valleys take on Nemo Rangers in the Quarterfinal of the Minor Championship next Saturday at 5pm in Brinny. We wish them the best of luck. This brought an end to the girls championship where the girls were unlucky against a very good Barrs side. The girls can be very proud of their display over the two games. Page 10 of 11
