The 9-weeks is flying by with a lot of activities! Please read carefully! This Week's News! Thirty-Second Sunday in Ordinary Time November 8, 2015 Mark 12:38-44 Jesus notices a poor widow's offering and commends her great sacrifice. This Sunday's Gospel from Mark contains one of the most repeated and utilized accounts about what it means to practice stewardship, as well as the requirements that need to be met in order to be a good steward. It is the story of the poor widow who placed "two small coins worth a few cents" into the offering basket. The Lord parallels an oft-repeated stewardship saying, "Not equal giving, but equal sacrifice." It is not the size of our gifts of gratitude to God that matter; it is the idea that each of us as Catholics and Christians makes an equal sacrifice in our efforts to be good stewards. The Lord tells us, "For they have all contributed from their surplus wealth, but she, from her poverty, has contributed all she had, her whole livelihood." Although He does not say it specifically, what Jesus is declaring to us is, "She trusts Me." Do we? Do our sacrifices reflect that trust? from Catholic Stewardship Consultants, Inc. Volunteer Opportunities All CTK families are required to complete 20 volunteer hours (10 hours for single parents) for the 2015-16 school year. 50-75% of your required hours should include volunteering for activities (versus item donations). To help you fulfill your requirement, here are some upcoming opportunities and contact information. This would entail asking parents to help greet our open house visitors and helping at open houses. CTK Café: The cafeteria staff is always looking for parent volunteers to help with prep, serving, and cleanup during all lunch periods. Any time you can volunteer between 10:30am-1:15pm would be appreciated. To volunteer in the cafeteria or for more information, contact Chris Ambriz at 795-8283, or via email at cafe@ctkcathedralschool.org. Basketball Concession & Gate: Parents are needed to work all jr. high & high school home basketball games. Sign-up sheets are located on the bulletin board in the gym. Contact Kim Morin at the school office for more information. -------------------------------------------- To enter completed volunteer hours, log into your family RenWeb account. Click on the "Family Information" section on the left side of the screen. Select the name of the parent who completed the volunteer hours (located in the middle area of the screen), and then click on the "Service Hours" tab in the box to the right of the names' list. After you select this tab, you will see a summary of hours already entered for the year. To add additional hours, click on the "Add Service Hours" tab and fill out the form including date of service and click on the "Save" button (the "Verified by" section does not need to be completed). Incomplete volunteer hours will be charged to families at the end of the school year at the rate of $20.00 per incomplete hour.
