TREC GB WINTER ARENA TREC SERIES 2018 / 2019 RUN BY WHITE HORSE TREC GROUP AND AFFILIATED TO TREC GB At Middleton Park Equestrian Centre, Middleton Grove, Leeds LS11 5TZ Sunday 24 February 2019 Arena TREC competition featuring fun unaffiliated classes plus TREC GB Winter Series classes. Friendly event open to everyone, ideal introduction for you and your horse or pony to the fun sport of British TREC, with lots of help and advice available. Come and have a go, you and your horse will enjoy something new and challenging this winter. Nonmembers welcome. Spectators welcome. Rosettes for every competitor. Enter online now via Equo: https://www.equoevents.co.uk/viewevent/vieweventdetails/20888 Entry for WHTG members only until 30 November! WHAT IS ARENA TREC? This fun competition consists of two of the three phases of full TREC, the MA (slow canter/fast walk) and PTV (obstacle/horsemanship challenge). There is no POR (map-reading) phase. Riders compete over a course of approximately 10 PTV obstacles within a set time, scoring points for each one completed. Obstacles simulate the type of challenges you could meet out hacking, for example crossing a footbridge, leading your horse across a ditch, jumping a small log, bending between poles or remounting. If you want to opt out of a particular obstacle you just stop and tell the judge before continuing. Some obstacles may specify they must be done led. Full details on how each obstacle is judged is available in the 2018 TREC GB Rulebook. Some obstacles may be adapted for use in an arena. The MA/Control of Paces phase involves riding along a marked track (usually 2 metres wide and 75 metres long around the edge of the arena) in a slow canter and a fast walk. Points are awarded according to a scoring table, 15 points per pace. Not all our classes include this phase. WHAT DO I WEAR? Safe and suitable riding clothing and footwear, no need for show jackets or cream jodhpurs. Please read the rules regarding hats and tack. HOW DO I ENTER? WHTG members get priority entry until 30 November, when any remaining spaces will be made available for non members. You can enter online using the Equo system at, once you have registered the first time it saves all your details so you can enter quickly every time. Alternatively print off the entry form and post it to the entries secretary with your cheque before the closing date. If entries are full before the closing date further entries will be placed on the waiting list and riders notified. Please enter early to avoid disappointment! Full refunds will be given for withdrawals before the closing date. Any refunds after the closing date are entirely at the organiser s discretion. Start times will be published on www.white-horse-trec.co.uk on the Wednesday before the event. Come along on the day and collect your number bib. The course will be open for walking at set times during the day. The placings are decided by the combined total of points from the PTV and MA sections, in the case of equality the higher PTV score wins. Every rider receives a rosette.

HOW DO I FIND OUT MORE? Visit our website www.white-horse-trec.co.uk for more information. We also have a Facebook page and you can contact us via Twitter too. HOW CAN I HELP? All TREC competitions rely on volunteers to run them. We are grateful for all offers of help, and learning to judge, scoring or timing rounds are great ways to learn more. If you are riding on the day you can help us with course building, clearing away the course at the end, and of course making sure our wonderful judges are kept well supplied with hot drinks during the day! Please get in touch if you or a willing friend or relative can help even just for part of the day. All judges are provided with food and drink and usually a little something to say thank you. Email evie@white-horse-trec.co.uk or call 07939 47564 to volunteer.
