Page 1 Welcome to the Cheer Florida all-star cheerleading teams. We are here to provide the best possible training for all age groups and all ability levels. Our #1 priority is to develop the most respectable, athletes in cheerleaders possible. We strive to maintain a teamwork attitude while improving each individual s self-esteem. We are very excited about working with you and your children in the year to come and are confident in your ability to represent Cheer Florida with pride and responsibility. To ensure the success of our teams, it is essential for all of us to understand the expectations and responsibilities involved in being a cheerleader at Cheer Florida. The biggest misconception is that most people think of team placement is based solely on one skill set. In order to remain competitive, we try to build successful teams that score well in all areas of the score sheet. On an ordinary cheerleading score sheet, there are 7 main areas that must be covered: Partner Stunts, Basket Tosses, Pyramids, Running Tumbling, Standing Tumbling, Jumps, and Motions/Dance. The more areas we max out skill difficulty and execution, the higher the score we will receive. The higher the score, the better our chances are at placing well. Once we have evaluated everyone s tumbling we will look at their stunt skills. Your tumbling will dictate where you start and your stunting will dictate where you end. We build each team like a football team, with each person filling a particular stunt position. The stunt positions are flyer, main base, instep and back spot. We do not consider front spot as a stunt position. Each team has a set number of cheerleaders for each position depending on the size of the team. If we are trying to fill a team with 5 flyers, we will look at all of the age eligible flyers and then evaluate their skill set on the various areas of the score sheet to select the top 5 for that team. For example: If we have 10 flyers that are all EQUAL in level 4 stunts and baskets and we need to choose 5, then we will see which of the 10 are level 4 tumblers. If only 3 are strong level 4 tumblers then we defer to jumps and motions to fill the remaining spots, or make the exception needed to fill the role to satisfy our stunt groups. This goes for every stunt position, but the process is used if all children stunt EQUALLY. Please see our Tumbling Level Guidelines on for details on what will be looking for at each level. Enclosed please find: Medical Treatment Form Estimated Year Cost for all cheerleaders Tentative Competition schedule

Page 2 Pro-Shop & Apparel Policy Participant/Parent Agreement Form Credit Card Authorization Form USASF Membership Instructions Participant/Parent Agreement Form, Medical Release Form, Liability Release Form and the credit card authorization form must be turned in by May 24 th or 25 th, 2017 (Or your 1 st day of practice). By signing these forms you agree to ALL that is stated. You will be provided with additional information, as it comes up throughout the year. Participant/Parent Agreement Form Rules & Regulations Practice 1. All Practices are MANDATORY! No more than three unexcused absences will be tolerated. 2. Excused absences MUST be given to your coach 24 hours in advance. Remember when you miss practice you are letting down the WHOLE team. 3. All cheerleaders must be fully dressed 15 minutes prior to the start of their practice for warm-up. 4. All hair must be pulled back away from the face at all times in a tight high pony tail, slicked back with bow in (Competition look). 5. No jewelry may be worn during practices. No earrings, belly rings, necklaces, bracelets, anklets etc. 6. Athletic shoes must be worn at all times. There will be no barefoot tumbling during cheerleading practice. 7. Tardiness to practice will result in disciplinary actions and possibly dismissal from the team. Every minute late determines the conditioning you will be doing after practice. 8. No parent, family member or friend will be allowed on the floor during practice. Everyone may wait in the waiting room of the facility. There will be no exceptions to this rule. 9. No gum chewing or candy eating will be allowed inside the gym during practice. Lunch and other foods must remain in the waiting room area or outside, no food will be allowed on the floor. 10. Drinks in bottles will be allowed. Breaks will be at the coach s discretion. 11. There will be times during the season that practices will be closed to spectators/parents, to allow the cheerleaders to focus on practice. Competitions 1. Being chosen as a member of the team does not guarantee a spot on the competition floor. Attitude and performance will determine whether or not you compete on the squad. 2. As long as you are a member of the team you will be eligible for competition. We will be attending Regional, State and National Competitions. 3. All competitions are mandatory. 4. All parents, family and friends of the cheerleaders are welcome to attend all competitions to support the teams 5. Competitions are NOT family vacations; the team is there for a purpose. The coaches will have all say as to when the girls will practice, have curfew and so on. 6. If for any reason you know that your child cannot attend a competition you must let the coach know in writing one month in advance. Remember that the routine will probably have to be changed and this takes time. It will also be up to the coach if the cheerleader will participate in any following competitions if they are too close to change back to the original

Page 3 routine. You will also be responsible for any and all fees for said competition that your child will be missing along with an additional $200.00 fee. 7. All cheerleaders must be in their room by curfew. No exceptions will be made to this rule. 8. All teams will cheer on all other teams. All parents will receive an itinerary prior to each competition with times that cheerleaders are required to be ready, to be available to cheer on other teams, and to depart from the competition. 9. Competition attire will be mandatory as stated on itineraries For all Travel Teams cheerleaders will wear their mandatory Cheer Florida Warm Up. 10. For parent apparel at competitions the colors will be as listed on each competition itinerary. We like to support the athletes as a whole and will wear coordinated colors on specific days. Our colors are Blue, Red and or Black shirts. 11. Summit is an additional competition that may or may not be added to our schedule at the very end of our season. Please note, teams must be awarded a bid to attend the Summit Event. This is a very prestigious event, and we will do our best to be awarded as many bids as possible. The Summit is a privilege and will be treated as such. If for whatever reason the athlete cannot participate to their fullest potential in practices, attitude & financial commitment Cheer Florida reserves the right to replace said athlete with another athlete to compete at The Summit. Financial Responsibilities/Parent Rules 1. All payments must be made by the 1 st of each month. 2. If we have not received payment by the 5 th of the month, we will have a credit card authorization on file and we will bill the card for the outstanding amount. 3. If by the 5 th of the month, the balance on your athlete s account is not paid in full, your child will sit out of practice until balances are paid up. 3. Please understand that these payments do not pay for the right for your child to perform. Each child earns this right through his/her preparedness and attitude as a team member. As said before your payments affect the whole team, we WILL NOT register or make final travel arrangements for a team until all team members have paid in full. Cheer Florida does not have the ability to front your payments. 4. In the event that a check is returned from the bank, ALL future payments will be made by money order, cash or credit card and a $25.00 return fee will be assessed. 5. Cheer Florida is on a level pay system. Your monthly investment will be the same every month. In this packet there is a breakdown of everything included with your level monthly pay system. 6. IF A CHEERLEADER LEAVES OR IS TERMINATED FROM THE TEAM FOR ANY REASON, ANY PREVIOUS PAYMENTS WILL NOT BE RETURNED.THE CHEERLEADER WILL FORFEIT ANY AND ALL MONEY. THIS IS A YEAR PROGRAM AND ALL MONTHLY DUES WILL BE YOUR RESPONSIBILITY WHETHER YOUR CHILD DECIDES TO QUIT OR IS TERMINATED FROM THE TEAM. 7. ANY ITEM THAT HAS BEEN PAID FOR IN ADVANCE, FOR EXAMPLE, SHOES, WARM UPS, BREIFS, BOW, SOCKS UNIFORM ETC., WILL NOT BE GIVEN OUT OR REIMBURSED IF THE CHEERLEADER DECIDES TO QUIT OR IS TERMINATED FROM THE TEAM BEFORE THE ITEMS ARE DISTRIBUTED. 8. Page 4 1. No private lessons will be allowed if there is an outstanding balance on your all-star account. All accounts must be paid up to date prior to scheduling any private lesson or class. 2. Private lessons will be requested, scheduled and paid through the front desk. 3. All privates will be for ½ hour. It will be the responsibility of the cheerleader to stretch prior to the private and to condition with the assignment given. The time with the instructor will not change; it will still remain ½ hour of hands on work. 4. Pricing will be as follows: *1 child ½ hour = $40, 2 children ½ hour = $20ea. (Tumbling, stretching or motion tech.) *1 child ½ hour = $50 (stunting), 2children ½ hour = $30ea. There will no longer be any more than 2 cheerleaders in every private. Other Issues 1. Parents please do not use cheerleading as a form of punishing your child. If you do so you are punishing the entire team. If you are having a problem with your child and would like one of the coaches to speak with them, they would be happy to help. 2. The coaches will have final say about which team each child is on. Each individual coach will decide how many practices, how often and how long their team s practices should run. 3. It will be up to the sole discretion of the directors of the Cheer Florida to decide which competitions the teams will be traveling to. Cheer Florida reserves the right to make any necessary changes to the competition schedule set forth in this packet. 4. Please do not take it upon yourself to discipline another child. This behavior will not be tolerated and may be reason for your child s dismissal from the team. Additional Areas of Concerns 1. Parental behavior when traveling We will not tolerate inappropriate behavior from parents when traveling to away competitions. If you can t control your alcohol, then don t drink. This program is for and about the kids not your personal vacation. 2. Parental behavior in gym lobby Please take this as your first and only warning. Watch your language this is a children s facility, and if you have nothing nice to say about a child then say nothing at all. They are all here to learn and no one is perfect or the best (NOT EVEN YOUR CHILD). 3. Cheerleader Behavior Cheer Florida has a zero tolerance policy for illegal/underage drug and alcohol use. Discussion and participation in these activities will result in IMMEDIATE REMOVAL from our program. This includes posts and references on social media. 4. Social Media Please keep in mind that you are a representative of Cheer Florida while in and out of uniform. All social media will be monitored. Please do not post anything that may be questionable of an athlete. Any behavior unbecoming of an athlete will not be tolerated. Please use your best judgement when on line. All cheerleaders and parents are asked to refrain from using social media as a method to belittle and or bully other cheerleaders and other programs. Let s use our social media to get information out to others and not as a forum for negativity. Inappropriate posts from either cheerleaders or parents will not be tolerated. If negativity is posted towards the program, a coach, an athlete or any member of our gym or any other gym, may result in removal from the program. As a parent we realize that you may or may not agree with each and every decision made for the teams. At times, you may feel you have a better way of accomplishing a goal. The key thing is to remember the directors of Cheer Florida only want the best for your children and their teams. You as a parent must trust the decisions we make are the best for the program as a whole. However, please keep in mind that we have an open door policy at the gym and value every parent s opinion. Please feel free to ask for a conference with your coach before or after practice or speak directly with

Page 5 the directors of the program if needed. As an organization we will strive to make your child s experience and pleasurable and memorable one. Teamwork must be your first priority to gain the maximum benefits of cheerleading and of this program.
