JASON GARRETT Head Coach 2011-2018 AWARDS & HONORS 2016 NFL Coach of the Year Pro Football Weekly s 2007 NFL Assistant Coach of the Year 2 NFC East Division Titles Different players selected to the Pro Bowl since 2010 for 20 a total of 44 appearances. JASON GARRETT (74-58, 8th Year) Jason Garrett was named the eighth head coach in Dallas Cowboys history on January 5, 2011. Garrett became the first former Dallas Cowboys player to become the team s head coach. As a backup quarterback during his playing career in Dallas, he started nine-of-23 games played and was a member of teams that won six division titles and three Super Bowl championships. Garrett was elevated to the Cowboys top job after taking over as the team s interim head coach midway through 2010. He guided the club to a 5-3 mark to finish the season after the team started 1-7. He led Dallas to an 8-8 record, narrowly missing the playoffs and an NFC East Division title in each his first three full seasons as head coach (2011-13). Garrett guided the 2014 squad to an NFL-best tying 12-4 record, the club s 22nd Division title - 18th NFC East title - 31st postseason appearance and 34th playoff win. His team fought through adversity in 2015, especially on the injury front where they endured injuries to Tony Romo, Dez Bryant and Orlando Scandrick amongst others, while slipping to 4-12 on the season. The team bounced back under Garrett in 2016, completing the club s largest one-season turnaround in franchise history with a nine-game difference, finishing with a 13-3 record in 2016. The record included beginning the season 0-1 and going on to win 11 straight games - the longest single-season win streak in team history. Garrett s Cowboys won their second division championship with him at the helm, while earning the NFC s top overall seed and hosting an NFC Divisional Playoff Game for the first time since 2007. He was named AP Coach of the Year for his team s 2016 accomplishments. The 2017 Cowboys finished 9-7, just missing the playoffs, but their record gave them back-to-back winning seasons for the first time since 2008-09. From 2007-13, when Garrett was brought on board as the Cowboys offensive coordinator, the unit finished among the NFL s top-10 in total offense in five of his seven years at the helm: 2013 (10th), 2012 (6th), 2010 (10th), 2009 (2nd) and 2007 (2nd). The team has set single-season records in a handful of categories, including topping 6,000 net yards for the first four times in franchise history (2009-6,390; 2011-6,008; 2014-6,138 and 2016-6,027). Since his arrival in 2007, not only has the team set single-season records in numerous offensive categories, but the club s cumulative numbers for gross passing yards (39,993) and total points (3,919) represent the best totals over a 10-year span in the history of the organization while the club s 58,567 total net yards are second. H HEAD COACHES H 10 TOP FINISHES Since 2014, Jason Garrett has led the offense to the top of the rankings in several key categories: 1 st 1 st 3 rd t-4 th 8 th 1 Jason Rush Yards-Per-Game (137.7) Yards-Per-Rush (4.65) Rushing Touchdowns (66) Passing TD% (5.1%) Passing Yards-Per-Attempt (7.48) Garrett is the first former Dallas Cowboys player to become the team s head coach. DOUG PEDERSON (29-18, 3rd Year) Doug Pederson was named head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles on January 18, 2016 following a three-year run as the offensive coordinator of the Kansas City Chiefs from 2013-15. In just his second season as an NFL head coach, Pederson led the Eagles to a 13-3 regular-season record, an NFC East title, the No. 1 seed in the NFC playoffs and the first Super Bowl title in franchise history with a 41-33 victory over the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LII. As a first-year head coach with the Eagles in 2016, Pederson helped develop rookie quarterback Carson Wentz, the second overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft. Under Pederson s direction, Wentz went on to set a team and alltime NFL rookie record with 379 completions, while posting franchise rookie records in pass attempts (607), passing yards (3,782), passing touchdowns (16) and completion percentage (62.4%). Wentz also produced the fourth-most passing yards (3,782) in single-season team history and NFL rookie history. Wentz started all 16 games in his rookie season, becoming the first Eagles quarterback to start all 16 regular-season games since Donovan McNabb in 2008. Prior to arriving in Philadelphia, Pederson served as the offensive coordinator in Kansas City from 2013-15 and helped guide the Chiefs to a 31-17 regular-season record. In 2015 Pederson helped the Chiefs rebound from a 1-5 start to win a franchise-record 11 consecutive games, including Kansas City s first playoff victory in 22 years. Before joining Kansas City, Pederson served as the quarterbacks coach in Philadelphia from 2011-12. Pederson began his pro coaching career as an offensive quality control coach with the Eagles in 2009 and served in that capacity through the 2010 season. A 12-year NFL veteran, Pederson played quarterback for the Green Bay Packers, Miami Dolphins, Philadelphia Eagles and Cleveland Browns after originally being drafted by the Carolina Panthers in the 1995 expansion draft. Pederson served as a backup quarterback for Green Bay from 1995-98 and 2001-04 and was part of a Packer team that won Super Bowl XXXI.
