Warren, M. Henderson GENERAL Stewards accepted the explanation tendered by trainer B. Williams for the late declaration of riders as per the Stewards Race Day Summary. Race 1: GLENN SEXTON CONSTRUCTIONS OPEN H'CAP - 1300M MORE MORE MORE (E. Ljung) was slow to begin. SARBI (T. Bannon) began awkwardly and lost ground. RHYTHM 'N' RAP (F. Edwards) overraced in the early and middle stages. Race 2: COAST TO COAST THE GOLDEN ROAST MAIDEN H'CAP - 1200M Stewards accepted the explanation tendered by trainer M. Whitehouse for the late declaration of G. Watson as the trainer of RUM RATION. MALIBU ROSE was a late scratching at 11.30 am on veterinary advice. Trainer A. Molino was advised that a veterinary clearance will be required for MALIBU ROSE prior to it being permitted to start. Mr Molino was advised that a certificate from the attending veterinary surgeon would be required evidencing the reasons for the late scratching. SILVER STAR, which was fractious in the float en route to the course, was declared a late scratching at 12.30 pm on veterinary advice. Trainer K. Baumann was advised that a veterinary clearance will be required for SILVER STAR prior to it being permitted to start. CRAIGLEA ZETA (S. Fawke) began awkwardly. SNIP PINS LASS (T. Bannon) was slow to begin. LADY ISLES (E. Ljung) and LAKE VERMONT (P. Cullen) raced wide throughout. RISKY PROPOSITION (A. Dykes) raced wide for the majority of the event. Near the 800m RUM RATION (G. Watson) improved on to the heels of CRAIGLEA ZETA and shifted wider, forcing LAKE VERMONT wider. RUM RATION was obliged to race wide from that point onwards.
Near the 400m SNIP PINS LASS shifted out to improve and inconvenienced RISKY PROPOSITION (A. Dykes). CRAIGLEA ZETA was held up rounding the home turn. Near the 200m CRAIGLEA ZETA was disappointed for a run between LAKE VERMONT and LADY ISLES, which shifted ground under pressure in the home straight. RUM RATION was eased from the heels of LAKE VERMONT over the concluding stages. Race 3: HAPPY NEW YEAR FROM THE TTC QTIS 3YO H'CAP - 1000M As D. Simmons was injured, F. Edwards was substituted as the rider of MOLONGLE DREAM. The start of this race was delayed when SIMON BON ROCKET (T. Bannon) was fractious in the barriers. SIMON BON ROCKET was subsequently removed, examined by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to take its place in the race. Trainer J. Manzelmann was advised that SIMON BON ROCKET must obtain a further barrier certificate prior to starting again. CRAIGLEA FIESTA (A. Coome) began awkwardly and lost ground. CRAIGLEA DUCATI (S. Fawke) was slow to begin. MOLONGLE DREAM (F. Edwards) and CRAIGLEA DUCATI raced wide throughout. Approaching the 700m CRAIGLEA FIESTA, SEVEN RED (S. Wilson) and SIMON BON ROCKET had to be eased when racing in restricted room to the inside of MAINSHAFT (E. Ljung). Leaving the 500m SIMON BON ROCKET had to be eased when racing in restricted room to the inside of SEVEN RED. Near the 400m SEQUONIS (D. Hayse) had to be eased when held up on the heels of DAZZLUNA (J. Orman). SIMON BON ROCKET, which was following, had to be checked to avoid the heels of SEQUONIS. SEVEN RED also had to be eased as a consequence. Following this race D. Hayse was examined by the ambulance officers and stood down from his remaining engagements. Riding replacements were made as per the Stewards Race Day Summary Sheet. Jockey Hayse was advised that he will be required to produce a medical clearance before he rides again. Race 4: TOXFREE TOWNSVILLE BM75 H'CAP - 1000M Trainer B. Williams was reprimanded for presenting PEOPLE'S CHOICE (A. Coome) late to the enclosure SEEK DE FORTUNE was a late scratching at 11.30 am due to transportation difficulties. FUNDIDO (S. Fawke) shifted out at the start and bumped TOUCH OF ELEGANCE (J. Felix). When questioned as to the improved performance of BELLASPIRIT (S. Wilson), trainer A. Molino noted that BELLASPIRIT was having its first start from a spell today and was returning to his stable from another trainer. Mr Molino stated that since returning to his stable he had been able to improve the fitness of BELLASPIRIT and as a result it had worked well leading into today's race, on the basis of which he was confident of an improved showing. The explanation was noted. Race 5: ELEGANT KITCHENS CLASS 1 H'CAP - 1000M Stewards permitted trainer B. Williams to replace D. Simmons (injured) with apprentice J. Kuskopf when no other suitable senior rider was available. Apprentice Kuskopf was allowed to claim her full 3kg allowance. A public announcement was made to this effect. EIREANN was a late scratching at 2.55 pm when no other rider was available to replace D. Hayse, who had been stood down after Race 3.
CRAIGLEA PIXIE (S. Fawke) shifted out at the start and bumped HEY HEY (S. Wilson), which began awkwardly. KISS ME QUICK (J. Kuskopf), FIDDY GEE (J. Orman) and CARE TO SHARE (G. Cullen) were slow to begin. GLOUCESTER STORM (J. Felix) began awkwardly. SCOT FREE (T. Bannon) and BERKELEY (F. Edwards) both raced wide throughout. PUBLIC AFFAIR (E. Ljung) had to be steadied near the 350m when tightened for room by CROTCHET (G. Kliese), which shifted in marginally. KISS ME QUICK had to be steadied off the heels of MOONLIGHT CAFE (A. Coome) over the concluding stages. Apprentice J. Kuskopf reported that KISS ME QUICK was inclined to hang in for the majority of the race and furthermore had to be steadied from the heels of HEY HEY for a considerable distance passing the 600m. Race 6: CHERYL'S BOUTIQUE CLASS 2 H'CAP - 1630M BANDIDAS was a late scratching at 11.30 am due to transportation difficulties. As M. Cullen was unable to fulfil his engagement due to transport difficulties, D. Hayse was substituted as the rider of CLEAR. A. Dykes was subsequently substituted as the rider of CLEAR when D. Hayse was stood down after Race 3. J. Felix was dislodged from ROMAN PLEASURE upon leaving the parading enclosure and the horse then galloped a short distance riderless before being captured. Upon arriving behind the barriers, ROMAN PLEASURE was examined by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to take its place in the race. CRAIGLEA CARINA (S. Fawke) and CLEAR (A. Dykes) were slow to begin. PRESS PLAY (E. Ljung) raced wide for the majority of the event. NAIL 'EM (F. Edwards) overraced in the early and middle stages. DOMINANT PLAY (A. Coome) was held up approaching and rounding the home turn. A post-race veterinary examination of AWESOME HORSESOM (T. Bannon), which was eased down leaving the 300m, failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Trainer R. Tapiolas reported that following the disappointing performance, AWESOME HORSESOM would now be sent for an immediate spell. When questioned as to the disappointing performance of MOONLIGHT CAFE, A. Coome stated that due to the slow speed in the early and middle stages, the gelding overraced and then when the tempo of the race increased leaving the 700m, MOONLIGHT CAFE was left flat-footed and failed to quicken with the field at that point. Jockey Coome expressed his disappointment in the performance but was of the view that the tempo of the race today did not suit the usual racing pattern of MOONLIGHT CAFE. The explanation was noted. Race 7: THANK YOU DAWN ANDREWS BM65 H'CAP - 1300M Stewards accepted the explanation tendered by trainer K. Baumann for the late declaration of F. Edwards as the rider of KINGSTON COUNTY. Stewards allowed J. Felix to replace the suspended apprentice K. Aho as the rider of ROCKBEL when no other apprentice was available. MIATA (A. Dykes), ROCKBEL (J. Felix) and SCIROCCO SAN (P. Cullen) were all slow to begin. TATYOON (A. Coome) and OUR MIMI (E. Ljung) began awkwardly.
SCIROCCO SAN raced wide in the early stages. ROCKBEL raced wide for the majority of the event. VON SEBASTIAN (J. Orman) hung in during the early stages of the home straight resulting in Apprentice Orman being obliged to stop riding and straighten the horse at that stage. SMUTTY JOHNS (D. Andrews) shifted out under pressure in the home straight. When questioned as to the tactics adopted on JAXTER'S BALLET in the middle stages, Apprentice J. Kuskopf stated that JAXTER'S BALLET overraced and refused to settle, which resulted in it leading by a considerable margin leaving the 500m, which was not her intentions. Apprentice Kuskopf stated that despite her efforts, she was unable to restrain JAXTER'S BALLET at this point of the race and the racing manners of the mare had a detrimental effect on its ability to finish the race off as expected. Apprentice Kuskopf reported that she had advised connections that JAXTER'S BALLET may perform better when ridden with cover in its races. The explanation was noted.
