Waller weekly news 23 January, 2015 Good Project kicked off proceedings at Randwick on Saturday with a very deserved win however left the team with a tough day at the office with the firm track and leader s bias not playing into our other runners hands. The Birchall family s promising 2yo colt Encosta Line and Mr Storey s You ll Never ran good second placings on the day as did Hoywedge and Miss Denni during the week and just shows the difference between a good and outstanding week in racing is a very fine line. We live to fight another day however and we have plenty of top chances again at Randwick, Newcastle, Canterbury and Sandown in the coming days. Head to the website for Chris and Liam s thoughts on our runners in the video preview. While the team at home keep the horses ticking over early next week, Chris and Liam will be joining the sales team in NZ on Sunday as we look to add to our exciting bunch of youngsters from Magic Millions. Read on below for more information on Chris and Guy s thoughts on the sale and make sure you get in touch via the details below if you d like information on our purchases. INSIDE THIS ISSUE WINNER www.cwallerracing.com admin@cwallerracing.com +612 9760 5700 We wish you all the very best of luck over the next week of racing! SEARCH FOR NEXT PREFERMENT ON AT KARAKA, PLEASE DADDY BUY ME A PONY, GETTING TO KNOW SARA SATHERLEY & PHOTOS.

CHRIS WALLER RACING CHRIS WALLER RACING WINNERS THIS WEEK GOOD PROJECT 3yo C by Not A Single Doubt Euchre by Final Card Good Project made winning work of Randwick s mile on Saturday after a frustrating spate of placing s for Mr Lai s very talented colt. Carrying 54kg opposed to Good Project s 59.5kg, runner up Invinzibeel made him work for the victory, pushing him to impressively run close to a track record time. Good Project is now enjoying a short break and will be targeted at the lucrative $400,000 Group 2 Queensland Guineas (1400m) in the winter. search FOR our NEXT PREFERMENT IS ON Karaka is the next stop on the sales circuit with New Zealand Bloodstock s yearling sales starting on Monday next week. The crew at NZB spoke to Chris about the advantages of buying at their sale, a sale that s been very good to the stable with the likes of Rangirangdoo, Preferment and Sacred Falls all sourced from the sale - watch the whole video here: http://vimeo.com/116511701 The stable s busy bloodstock agent Guy Mulcaster has been doing much of the leg work at the sale this week and offered the following this morning It s been a productive week at Karaka. We have inspected 500 horses and have already selected our future stars! I ve been hugely impressed with the quality of both pedigree and physical type and I m looking forward to showing my selections to Chris on Sunday. Hopefully some of this weeks purchases can become Preferment, Bascule or Kermadecs of the future. After the sales, the yearlings are left in New Zealand to be broken in, grow out a bit and further their early education before coming to Australia. Last year s purchases are starting to filter across the Tasman at the moment and early reports are that the sales team looks to have managed to find some more gems there last year.

PLEASE DADDY BUY ME A PONY One would have thought, if Chris was to be getting a pony anytime soon, it d be for Tyler and Nikita however smart French import Weary is a gelding but carries on like a proper colt. He s got a few antics at home, so we ve got him a pony, and it s the first time I ve used a pony in my training career, said Chris to The Daily Telegraph s Christian Nicolussi this week. He s coping well, the pony takes him on and off the track, and it helps him through his work. Weary was disappointing last spring after he impressed in the autumn and started favourite in the Doncaster. He has gone through some re-education work at Limitless Lodge and was one of a few eye-catching trials for the team on Tuesday at Rosehill. Weary s stable neighbour at Rosehill is none other than Coolmore s Cox Plate hero Adelaide, who remains on track to run first-up in the Queen Elizabeth Stakes. 3 Ready to rock and roll! The sight Chris is greeted with at the races every Saturday his happy team all lined up in their crisp white shirts with their charges for the day. Star thoroughbreds currently syndicating The first of the stable s exclusive syndicators Star Thoroughbreds Magic Millions purchases are now online and are available for you to purchase shares in. On offer at the moment are colts by Toorak Toff (pictured) and Smart Missile plus fillies by Helmet, Hinchinbrook, Stratum and I Am Invincible. Head to www.starthoroughbreds.com.au for more information.

CHRIS WALLER RACING GETTING TO KNOW SARA SATHERLEY Sydney-based foreperson Sara Satherley took some time out this week to give us some background on her and answer our weekly questions I was born in Palmerston North and raised in Foxton on a farm, before leaving for boarding school. With a strong liking of horses I started riding work for Mr Busitton at Ripon Lodge along with my brother. After a short stint their I gained employment with Grant Laursen. Fifteen years later I moved to Lisa Latta's, staying there for four years before running her South Island stable. After a track accident in 2012 which resulted in a broken arm and leg I stopped riding before moving over to Australia to start work with Chris Waller. Nickname? PJ Best quote? Best horse ever seen? Lonhro. Role model? Trevor McKee. Favourite food? Salmon, caviar and Champagne. Favourite jockey? Noel Harris (who incidentally is shooting to be the oldest jockey to ride a Group 1 winner at Trentham in NZ this Saturday at 60 years of age). If you weren t in racing, what would you have done?
