She is now working on the past presidents. Annette has done an excellent job on these projects. Meetings. The December 6th meeting was held at the home of Mary Lynne Reinagle's home in Social Circle. Fourteen members were in attendance. After the pledges and the Opening Ritual, Suzanne Forte gave the Historian's Program on "The Battle of Grand Gulf, Mississippi". Members were updated on our projects for the year. Beth Walton sent a total of 839 stamps to the Veteran's National Stamp and Coin Club. Pauline Myers and Madelyn Stark mailed coupons totaling over $5000.00 for distribution to US Military families. Pauline delivered over 200 pounds of food items to F.I.S.H. at the Social Circle United Methodist Church after the December meeting. The volunteers were very grateful for the items. Their food pantry was getting very bare. (L-R) Mary Lynne Reinagle, Suzanne Forte, Pauline Myers, Diane Goga and Annette Wade loaded the food items to be delivered to F.I.S.H. Thanks to Mary Lynne Reinagle, our Scholarship Piggy has been "dressed". The pig will be passed around at each meeting and any donations will help with the chapter's scholarship. After the meeting, hostesses Mary Lynne Reinagle and Jane Williams served a wonderful meal. We will continue to collect food items and make another delivery in May. Older supplementals are still outstanding due to the transition of paperwork to the new registrar and a change in rules set by her. Hopefully these will be processed soon. The devotional given by Beth Walton was "A New Year Prayer. After the pledges to the flags, Ann Hall led us in L-R: Pauline Myers holding "Dixie" with Mary the singing of "Dixie". Pauline Myers presented Lynne Reinagle the Opening Ritual and prayer. While dining on a wonderful meal prepared by Diane Goga, Ann Hall and Pauline Myers will be at- Diane Goga and Suzanne Forte, we listened to tending the Executive Board meeting this week-end. Hard Road: Favorite Camp Songs of the Civil War by the Second String Band. Susan Harnish reported that eight of Jane Williams' supplementals have been approved. Cindy Little, Executive Director for Faith In Serving Humanity (F.I.S.H.) was the speaker. She gave a very interesting talk about the different functions of the organization. Two programs for children include FISH4KIDS and Backpack Buddies. FISH4KIDS provides food for children in the summer and Backpack Buddies gives nutritious snacks to children on the week-ends. The March 7th meeting was held at the Welcome Center. In the absence of Chaplain Beth Walton, Ann Hall gave the opening prayer. After pledges to the flags and the singing of "Dixie", Pauline gave the opening ritual and stated the UDC objectives. Nine members were in attendance. Jane gave a very interesting historian program about the "Richmond Bread Riots". Lunch prepared by Ann Hall and Pauline Myers L-R: Pauline Myers and Jane Williams Vice-President Ann Hall urged everyone to purchase insignia and to wear their ribbons to all meetings to honor our ancestors Plans are being finalized for Confederate Memorial Day. Jane Williams and Madelyn Stark Ann shared with us a list of members of the Monroe UDC Chapter, Henry D. McDaniel which disbanded in 1940. Many of the surnames were very familiar. Madelyn found an old Children of the Confederacy Cookbook at a flea market. It was from the Raburn Gap chapter. Many prominent Georgian men and women contributed recipes to the book. Madelyn also shared a note that she received from her "Real Daughter", Mrs. Bernice Peacock. After a blessing by Ann we enjoyed a lovely meal prepared by Ann and Pauline.
