RESULTS & NEWS MARCH 2009 Clearwater Lake March 14, 2009 Written by: Lori Luzynski Location: Piedmont Park Marina Time: 9:00 AM 3:00 PM Lake Conditions: Clear to slightly stained Lake Level: 494 (Normal 494) Water Temp: 49 to 51 Deg Air Temp: 43 Deg at take-off to 58 Deg at weigh-in Weather: Cloudy and overcast in the am then the sun peeked out in the afternoon Winds: 10mph from the NW in the am and then turned N in the afternoon 19 boats turned out at our first tournament. A total of 52 fish were brought to the scales. Tournament Results GREG AND ANDY SHANDS TAKE THE WIN WITH DOUBLE LIMITS (10 FISH) WEIGHING 9.78 LBS. Greg and Andy were the big winners, being the only anglers with a boat limit. By the looks of the mounds of soft plastics inside their boat, they appear to have been practicing for some time. They reported catching their fish on black back, red belly bombers and wiggle warts and Andy admitted he might have caught one on a brush hog. Gee Andy, is that a new lure for you this year!! They took home $184.00 for first place. Great job guys!! Second place was Terry Stanek and Lori Luzynski. They had a total of 5 fish weighing 9.57 lbs. They reported catching their fish on crawdad color crankbaits. Terry also had big bass of the day bringing a 4.10 lb. to the scale. Nice fish Terry!! Although Lori did have one fish, she enjoyed being net girl for her partner! Good thing she didn t bring that net that she gave Terry at the banquet last year!! They took home $148.00.

Third place was Mike and Jeff Schwent. They had a total of 9 fish weighing 8.40 lbs. They reported catching their fish all day on green pumpkin brush hogs. They took home $114.00. Fourth place was Dave Jett and Terry Bost. They had a total of 9 fish weighing 7.91 lbs. They reported catching their fish Carolina rigging centipedes in about 6 10. They took home $82.00. Fifth place was Bill Scheller and Russ Grobe. They had a total of 6 fish weighing 7.10 lbs. They reported catching their fish on chartreuse crankbaits. They took home $58.00. BIG BASS goes to Terry Stanek with his 4.10 lb. nice fish. He collected a check for $70.00 in addition to the big bass side pot of $85.00 Great job Terry!! Honorable angler limits of 5 fish: Dave Jett and Jeff Schwent. CONGRATULATIONS to all the winners!! (See complete tournament results below.) Giveaways Attendance price winners: Terry Stanek, JD Ketcherside, Dennis Goetges, Ted Reim and Richard Beckham. Free tournament coupons were won by Jason Sportsman and Greg Shands. Special attendance prize: Holiday Hideaway (Table Rock) was gracious enough to give us a one night free stay for one person. Pam Wakim was the big winner of this. Thank you Holiday Hideaway and congratulations Pam!! Special Thanks To: A special thanks goes out to Piedmont Park Marina for letting us have our weigh in on their dock. Thanks also to our Tournament Directors Pam Wakim and Bob Treadway. And another special thanks to Holiday Hideaway for the voucher. We truly appreciate what some of the resorts/marinas/restaurants are giving us to include in our prizes for the members. Who s New? Welcome new and past returning members Josh Chapman, Mark Chapman, Sue Davis, Steve Danko, Mike Ellis, Benjamin Gerdes, Dennis Goetges, David Haintel, Jim Hawkins, Brian Jankowski, Daniel Lichius, Ken McNeil and Richard Riemann. Glad to have you aboard!!

Comedy Corner Chewey (Pam s Chihuahua) does a great job with the weather! Last year, first tournament, as you may recall, was cold and rainy. Some of us (not mentioning any names) had so many layers on, it was hard to move much less cast. Some even had trouble fishing. As I recall, someone said their partner spent most of the day in a fetal position in the bottom of the boat (not mentioning any names Andy). We decided from that point, we needed someone to do a dance that would bring warmer, sunnier weather. Chewey got designated for that. We ve not seen pictures but heard stories that the little dog actually does the Mexican hat dance prior to each tournament. Well Chewey, you did a great job for us this tournament! The weather was great! Keep up the good dancing!! Special note from Pam: This is Chewey doing her hat dance to keep the rain away but we only use her when we REALLY need her. This past weekend she did a new dance for us called the "no rain, sunshine, happy dance" and it seemed to work. From the Vice-President s Boat By Terry Stanek At the start of each year one of the responsibilities of the club officers is to review our tournament rules with respect to compliance to current Missouri fishing regulations. And this year has been no exception. During this review we have noted that rule governing culling stipulates that in order to be eligible for the exception allowing our members to cull fish during a tournament, the event must be a bona fide catch-andrelease tournament. The requirement for this type of tournament is one after which all bass are released alive and also which requires entrants to have a boat livewell with adequate capacity and a pump constantly adding fresh or recirculating water. This has prompted the following rule changes to our tournament rules. A. GENERAL 1. Tournament eligibility requirements: (added) c. Entrants must have a boat livewell with adequate capacity and a pump constantly adding fresh or recirculating water.

E. WEIGH IN PROCEDURES (revised) 9. Upon completion of a team s weigh in, all fish submitted will be returned to the water. If your boat is not equipped with a livewell, a sufficiently large cooler with a portable pump system will also meet the requirement. One such portable pump system is available at Bass Pro Shops listed as the Super Saver Kit and retails for $39.99. We hope that in initiating this change we have not inconvenienced any of those members that have already signed and submitted their membership and entry forms. If this is the case, or if there are any questions regarding this issue, please contact one of the club officers. Thank you and good fishing!
