Ms. DavisShaw saed ha FDOT has agreed for he seleced consulan o speak o he Commission prior o beginning he process; ha Saff is seeking Commission direcion regarding he op prioriy areas o begin requesing funds. A discussion ensued concerning ensuring a safey plan o address he possible negaive impac o U.S. 301 wih he proposed improvemen o narrow U.S. 41. The following person spoke: Rod Warner indicaing a roundabou helps decrease ravel ime and aracs more volume, he Ciy should add any desired projecs on he lis for he MPO s Regional Plan o possibly obain funds, and recommending he Commission add roundabous for John Ringling Parkway a Bird Key and Sunse Drive ono he lis for he MPO s Regional Plan. A discussion ensued concerning he Ciy has only one chance every five years o place projecs on he lis for he MPO s Regional Plan. In response o a quesion by Commissioner Clapp asking he saus of he bicycle lanes proposed for U.S. 41 near he Indian Beach Neighborhood, Ms. DavisShaw saed ha he proposed bicycle lanes are being explored. A discussion ensued concerning he need o acquire righs-of-way for a projec slows down projecs and ime being more imporan han dollars. A moion was made by Commissioner Turner o prioriize secions of U.S. 41 for -Manaee Meropolian Planning Organizaion Long-Range Transporaion Plan as follows: Universiy Parkway o Tenh Sree as firs prioriy, Tenh Sree o Osprey Avenue as second prioriy, and Osprey Avenue o he souh Ciy limis as hird prioriy.

In response o a quesion by Commissioner Clapp asking if a pedesrian bridge a Whiakers Lane can be included in he moion, Commissioner Turner saed yes; ha pedesrian bridges should be added o he eas and wes sides of U.S. 41 a Whiakers Lane. Commissioner Clapp seconded he moion. Depuy Ciy Manager Marlon Brown came before he Commission and saed ha he anicipaion is Saff will no be precluded from considering any inerim improvemens o Gulfsream Avenue and Fruiville Road since raffic congesion leaving S. Armands Circle is sill an issue. Commissioner Turner saed ha Saff is no precluded from considering any inerim road improvemens. A discussion ensued concerning he obaining of funds for proposed projecs including federal gran funds and he possibiliy of dividing he U.S. 41 corridor ino wo segmens raher han hree. A moion was made by Vice Mayor Akins, seconded by Commissioner Clapp, and carried by a 5-0 voe o exend he meeing beyond 9:30 p.m. Mayor Kirschner called for a voe on he moion, which failed by a 2-3 voe wih Mayor Kirschner, Vice Mayor Akins, and Commissioner Awell voing no.
