The Railway Children Theatre Trip On Wednesday 13 July Teddington School Drama Department took 30 Year 7, 8 and 9 students to see The Railway Children at The Kings Cross Theatre in London. The set and design elements of the show were amazing. The performance was set in traverse with the audience either side of the tracks with a full size steam engine entering down the tracks. A particular highlight was the scene set in the tunnel which had a black gauze curtain pulled across so you could no longer see the other side of the audience but could still see the action which took place inside the tunnel. This allowed tension to be built along with the increase in pace and the sound of the train getting closer and closer. The performance was excellent and allowed students to use their imaginations to see what is truly possible in the world of theatre and hopefully inspired them to adapt these ideas and apply them to their own work in lessons. The students thoroughly enjoyed the show and were as ever great ambassadors for the school. Miss Kelly Jenkinson Subject Leader of Drama Year 12 Treasure Hunt On Tuesday 19 July Year 12 spent their Curriculum Enhancement Day on a treasure hunt in London. They put themselves into teams and received their challenges on The South Bank at 10.30am. These involved collecting various items and taking photos by famous landmarks. Despite the heat, the teams approached the day with energy and enthusiasm. Several cooled off in the South Bank fountains at the end of the day. The winning teams will be announced, and prizes given, in the first assembly in September. Do not forget to email your photos to Mrs Carroll. Mrs Jo Carroll Sixth Form Administrator

German Exchange From Thursday 14 July to Tuesday 19 July, 27 Teddington School Year 9 students and 3 staff visited our German exchange school in beautiful Konstanz. We would like to thank our partner school, the Geschwister Scholl Schule, for their fabulous hospitality. During our visit we went on day trips by boat to Friedrichshafen, Meersburg and also Stein am Rhein in Switzerland. Teddington students thoroughly enjoyed the lake and all the water activities on offer. Konstanz is such a brilliant location and the students really made the most of the opportunity to immerse themselves in German culture and language. The German teachers, head teacher and families always make us feel incredibly welcome and some great friendships were formed. The German students will make the return trip to Teddington in September and we are all really looking forward to welcoming them here.
