Foothills Drive. Newberg, Oregon 97132 Guest speaker: Jeremy Tolman President s Message NSIA puts on a fishing tournament every year called the Spring Fishing Classic (formerly Hawgs and Dawgs). The Sandy chapter and Mcloughlin chapters have volunteered to help at this event for many years and for our effort NSIA makes a donation to the Steelheaders that gets split between us. We would like to invite both of your chapters to help out and make a little money for the chapter coffers. NSIA donates $1000 to us and that would get split between all the chapters that volunteer. The particulars are this: March 30th setup for the event 9am to 2pm at the Kliever Armory on NE 33rd in Portland. March 31st 9am to 5pm at the same location and a few folks at the Delta park Fishermans for the fish weigh in. The event if a lot of fun and a great way to show support for NSIA. You can check out what they do at their web site. I coordinate the volunteers for this event with NSIA so let me know ASAP if anyone from your chapters would like to be involved. We don't need tons of folks but a few from each chapter would be great. The 30th is of course the day we really need folks for it being a work day. But let me know what you guys think. The entry fee is $78 per person and having been to several of these things you get far more than that in door prizes during the dinner! I'm planning on doing it this year. Interested in putting a team together?? Cheers www.nsiafishing.org/hogs.php Russell Bassett 8:18am Feb 7 Hi, ya'll. Please come check us out at the Pacific Northwest Sportsman Show Feb 8-12 at the Portland Expo Center. Steelheaders have two booths (#s 1412 and 504). If you have been thinking about joining the Steelheaders, the show is a great place to do it, as we are doing a membership special. Join at $20 and get a fishing towel or join at $30 or more and get a bag, towel and a 50 years working for fish hat. Also, if you join or renew at the show, Rainbow s End Tackle (booth #355) will give you a free jig or fly. Be sure to bring your knife to the show and get it sharpened by Kershaw at the Fred Meyer booth (#540). Kershaw is donating 100% of the proceeds for the knife sharpening to the Steelheaders.

Social networking isn t just for kids! If you have a Facebook account, search for: " Newberg Steelheaders " If you do not have a Facebook account, setting one up is a piece of cake! Just go to www.facebook.com to join up. Once there, the program will automatically sync the contacts in your e-mail address book that are already Facebook members to your account. It s that easy! Several Newberg Chapter members have Facebook accounts, and post pictures and announcements Web Links of Interest: Meetup Website Helps Bring New and Experienced Anglers Together If you re a member of the Northwest Steelheaders, please take a moment to check out a new website that our organization supports. You can even sign up to become a member yourself! It s easy, and membership is free. The web address is: http://www.meetup.com/nw-steelheading-group/ The goal of the website is twofold: First, we wanted a way to list all of our Steelheaders events, volunteer opportunities, and fishing events, so you can access this information quickly and easily. Second, we wanted a tool that would help us reach out to new (or experienced) fisherman and introduce them to the Association of Northwest Steelheaders. So give the website a look, or better yet sign up. Meet some new folks and help support new anglers looking to learn more about catching fish. Cheers!
