Why are you on this trip? The Do s To demonstrate the quality of music produced by Autrey Mill Middle School students and to see the results of teamwork within a group. Be responsible/mature, be prompt, be present, be positive, be prepared, be polite/respectful/helpful, and be safe. Interact with other students and remember you are a talented group of students! 1. Do follow all Fulton County School policies, including those on drugs alcohol, and tobacco. Failure to do so may result in dismissal. 2. Do bring headphones for ALL electronic devices (ipods, gaming systems, etc.) 3. Do wear comfortable walking shoes (tennis shoes) in theme parks. 4. Do keep your hotel room neat as well as your concert uniform. 5. Do keep hotel room doors and windows locked at all times and keep up with your room key. 6. Do report strangers to your chaperone. 7. Do remember that Light s out means go to sleep! 8. Do pack your concert uniform, including all accessories in a garment bag. 9. Do pack your other clothes and accessories in one suitcase. 10. Do listen to your chaperone(s) and directors at all times. 11. Do THINK! PHONE: No outside phone calls can be made from the rooms. Calls to home or relatives can only be made from cell phones. Please send calling card information with your child or allow them to call collect if they do not have a cell phone. Phones in the hotel rooms can only be used to call for assistance from your chaperone. MONEY: Many meals have been paid for, but each student is responsible for paying for at least one meal a day. Please plan for each meal (marked on the itinerary with a $ ), and souvenirs/snacks, etc. If a student is going to bring a credit card or pre-paid debit card, it is still recommended that students bring some cash. Students will also have an opportunity to shop and purchase drinks and snacks from the vending machines at the hotel; you will want to bring money for that purpose. Students are not allowed to charge anything to the room. This includes phone calls, pay-per-view, or food. PLEASE!!! Keep your money on you at all times! Do not leave money lying around in your room, even if you are in the room! We cannot be responsible for any lost money. This cannot be stressed enough! Don t spend your money all in one day. Students may want to portion out their spending money to make sure they have enough to cover the entire duration of the trip. DO NOT BRING: Expensive jewelry, valuables of any kind, large radio/mp3/cd player. Each room in the hotel should have an iron, ironing board, alarm clock/radio, hair dryer. The Autrey Mill Middle School Dress Code will be strictly enforced! If you can t wear it at school, don t bring it on the trip! Page 2

MEDICAL CARE: If any illness or emergency arises that the staff and/or chaperones cannot handle, the student will be taken to the nearest clinic or hospital. ALL MEDICATIONS MUST BE CHECKED IN WITH the clinic before departure! Medications must be presented in their original container in the amount that will be needed for the duration of the trip. The medications will be distributed as prescribed. Also, if a student will be self administering medications, a parent must complete and sign the permission form for self-medication and submit to the clinic. AUTREY MILL MIDDLE SCHOOL BAND & CHORUS RULES OF THE ROAD: TRAVELING RULES AND REGULATIONS 1. The consumption of alcoholic beverages and use of illegal drugs will not be tolerated and will cause immediate dismissal. 2. Smoking and/or consuming chewing tobacco products will not be tolerated and will cause immediate dismissal. 3. Band members will not be permitted in any hotel room other than their own after hours. No unauthorized persons will be allowed to visit at any time. 4. No boys are permitted in girls hotel rooms. No girls are permitted in boys hotel rooms. No student from Autrey Mill is permitted in any other group s room. 5. At dark, no boys/girls will be allowed to sit in the same seats on the bus. 6. Students are expected to behave at all times in the hotel. You are representing Autrey Mill Middle School and Johns Creek, Georgia. The Directors or Administrator will deal with anyone deemed guilty of gross misbehavior. 7. Young adults DO NOT roughhouse or damage property. As Autrey Mill Middle School Band/Chorus members you are not only a reflection of Autrey Mill Middle School, but the community as well. Parents and students will be held responsible for paying for any property damage or lost room keys (where applicable). 8. All students are expected to participate in all activities. 9. No food, glasses, silverware, or dishes are to be taken from a meal service area to your room at any time. 10. Shirts, shoes, and other appropriate apparel are to be worn at all times. The AMMS Dress Code applies to attire worn on this trip. 11. Rooms are to be locked at all times. 12. Hotel room windows are to be closed and locked at all times. Hotel room draperies/curtains are to remain closed at all times when you are in your room. 13. There will be NO breaking in line at any eating facility. 14. Courtesy to others is expected at all times. 15. There is to be NO wearing of hats, hair rollers, or sunglasses in the building. 16. There will be NO playing of instruments while in your hotel room. This includes drumming on desktops, floors, etc. 17. All school rules will be strictly enforced. Any infraction of these rules will be dealt with by both the Directors and the school authorities. 18. All students should realize that for the duration of the trip, any personal desires, uniqueness of character, or other individualities must be considered secondary to the traits that facilitate large group control and management. 19. Under no circumstances will students be permitted to leave the hotel/rooms except when with the entire group or at the discretion of the Directors. Any students found leaving the premises without permission from the Directors will be dealt with severely. Page 4

20. Profanity is NOT a part of the Autrey Mill Band/Chorus programs. Make sure that your language is NEVER offensive at any time while with the group. 21. AMMS BAND/CHORUS MEMBERS ARE EXPECTED TO BE AT THE RIGHT PLACE, AT THE RIGHT TIME, IN THE RIGHT UNIFORM, WITH ALL OF THE RIGHT EQUIPMENT READY TO GO! 22. While on the trip, students will be in a group with a MINIMUM of SIX (6) students. Each group must be with their chaperone as required. 23. The Directors reserve the right to dismiss and send home (at parent s expense) any student who disobeys the rules and whose general conduct and attitude towards the trip and its participants is determined to be detrimental to the rest of the group. 24. All rules of conduct were written with the individual safety of each student & group decorum in mind. Every precaution will be taken to insure adequate supervision. Students are expected to comply with the requests of adult chaperones to insure the safety and well being of everyone. Please stress this when discussing out-of-town trips with your son or daughter. 25. Students are expected to remain with chaperones and in the park designated for that time period. 26. Students are expected to be prompt at meeting locations. 5 min. early is on time and on time is late. In the event a group is unable to meet a designated meeting time, communication should be made to the directors. Behavior Consequences If inappropriate behavior choices are made one or all of the following consequences will apply: Chaperone/Student Conference Chaperone/Director/Student Conference Chaperone/Director Conference Director/Administrator Conference Call Parents A student will be sent home at the expense of the parent/parents for being part of, in any way, one of the following infractions: Use or possession of a controlled substance (Drugs of any type, alcohol or cigarettes) Co-Ed room visitation Failure to follow trip rules Stealing, physical confrontation, defacing property or using vulgar/offensive language Any other serious offense deemed necessary by a director or administrator Page 5

Autrey Mill Middle School Band/Chorus ROOM CAPTAIN RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Upon arrival at the hotel, you will be called to exit the bus first to get the room card keys for you and your roommates. 2. Go back to the bus to get your roommates and your luggage. 3. Pass out room card keys to your roommates. Keep the envelope in which you receive your card keys. You will need this for checkout. 4. There will be a $10 fee charged for each room card key lost. It is the room captain s responsibility to tell your roommates to keep up with their card keys. If a card key is lost, give the student s name and room number to your chaperone at checkout. The student will be billed for the loss!!! 5. All students must remain in their room with their room captain until your chaperone has checked your room for checkout. 6. After your room has been checked by your chaperone, collect all keys from your roommates, place them in the original envelope, and return them to your chaperone. This must be done after your room has been checked by your chaperone and cleared of all belongings. 7. Report any room damage to your chaperone as soon as it happens. BUS CAPTAIN RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Prior to departure, report to the bus and assume responsibility for loading the luggage into the appropriate compartment of the bus. Do not let students just pile items inside the luggage compartment. 2. Upon arrival at the hotel at the end of the first day, you will be allowed to get off of the bus first to begin unloading the luggage or equipment from the luggage compartments. Line the luggage up in a row, so it will be easy to retrieve. Stay with the luggage from the bus until all of it is retrieved by its owner. Then, gather your luggage and go with your roommates to your room. 3. Report to the chaperone on board any problem on the bus as soon as it occurs. A problem can be anything from the need for another trash bag, a spilled drink, a sick student, or a broken seat. 4. When we arrive at the hotel at the end of each day, check the bus to ensure it is clean and ready for the next day. Take the initiative for supervising the collection of all trash into trash bags before arriving at a destination. The chaperones on board will then collect the bags upon arrival at the destination and get them to the dumpster. 5. Upon return to the school, the bus captains are also responsible for ensuring that all trash and personal items are removed from the bus. Page 6

Chorus: Formal Uniform AMMS Music Department Shirt / AMMS Spiritwear Shirts One suitcase with the following: Bathroom items (Shampoo, brush/comb, toothpaste/toothbrush, shaver/razor if needed, deodorant, etc.) Shorts/pants for 3 days Shirts for 3 days Undergarments/socks for 4 days Walking shoes for theme parks. - no heels, flip-flops, open shoes Flip/flops or comfortable shoes for hotel and bus (NOT for Universal!) Sunscreen. Pillow and light blanket for bus ride. Backpack with books, electronics, and toiletries for bus trip. All electronics must have headphones as not to disturb other students. Weather The extended forecast for Orlando is partially cloudy and Highs in the low-80s / Lows in the low 60s! We have requested clear blue skies and warm temperatures but you never know. Check the Weather Channel for Orlando prior to packing. You should bring a light jacket or sweater for evening activities. Also, bring an emergency rain poncho or jacket, just in case. Travel Tips Eat a good meal before departure. This will make you more comfortable on the bus ride. You may want to bring some snack food and water. Choose what you wear on the bus ride down carefully. All clothing should be school appropriate. Make sure that you have everything important that you need for the trip with you at your bus seat daily medications (turned into clinic), sunscreen, hats, camera, spending money, etc. If you don t need it, don t carry it! You will have to carry and be responsible for all personal belongings. Keep in mind, if you carry a bag at Universal you will have to put your personal belongings/bag into lockers for some rides. First Aid Please notify your chaperone/director for any needs that you may have. Spending Money Students should be prepared to purchase one meal per day. There are many opportunities for souvenirs and snacks, so please send some extra money with your child. Page 7
