Asheville (34-23/66-61) started the scoring on Wednesday with a leadoff double from Roberto Ramos. Ramos scored the first run off Gnats starter Casey Delgado on a double form Cesar Galvez. Delgado received a no-decision for his 6.1 innings of work. Savannah (37-18-1/76-49-1) answered in the sixth with a leadoff double of their own from Guillorme. Guillorme came home on an RBI-single from 3B Eudor Garcia. Tied at one, Galvez gave the Tourists the lead in the seventh on a sacrifice fly from Omar Carrizales. Guillorme led off the eighth with a double to center and the Gnats down 2-1. Garcia collected his second RBI with another single to score Guillorme and tie the game again. With one out, the Gnats loaded the bases on a single from 1B Michael Katz and a walk to LF John Mora. DH Tomas Nido plated two with a single to right, giving the Gnats their first lead of the game. Asheville added a run in the eighth on a solo homer from Ramos. Luis Guillorme added a single in the ninth to give him four hits on the night, including a double. SAND GNATS STARTER: RHP Chris Flexen tossed 8.0 shutout innings allowing just four hits in his third start for the Gnats in 2015 last night. Flexen K d a seasonhigh 10 before exiting the game after throwing a season-high 100 pitches. The right-hander has not allowed a run for 19.1 innings since the first inning on 8/8 @ Charleston. Flexen will make his fourth start for the Gnats in 2015 tonight at McCormick. The Californian tossed 6.1 shutout innings allowing just five hits in his second start for the Gnats in 2015. Flexen K d five before exiting the game after throwing a then season-high 94 pitches. Flexen was 3-5 with a 4.83 ERA (37/69.0) in 13 starts with the Sand Gnats in 2014. BALDONO-NO: LHP Alberto Baldonado has not allowed a run over his last 16.2 innings over 13 appearances. Baldonado s streak is the longest for the Gnats this season and dates all the way back to July 7 th. HURRICANE GUILLORME: SS Luis Guillorme leads the SAL with 137 hits in 2015. Guillorme is also tied for the league lead with a.314 batting average. In the last 10 years, no Sand Gnat has finished in the top ten of the SAL in hitting. In 2015, there are three with RF Wuilmer Becerra who ranks seventh with.298 and 3B Eudor Garcia is ranked ninth with a.295 batting average. ON TOUR: The Sand Gnats lead the season series against the Asheville Tourists 11-7. The Gnats offense is led by Becerra who has hit.316 (18-for-57) over 14 games against the Tourists.
